R.L. was my first introduction to real blues and one of my biggest influences on guitar. Been listening to him since high school and I only become an even bigger fan as the years pass. It makes me big happy that Black Keys have been covering his stuff. 🙃 cheers!
I actually lost a lot of songs a couple of weeks back and for the love of God I couldn't remember the name RL Burnside and neither the song name (see my jumper hanging on the line) and then I saw your comment today. Thank you!!!
I glossed over this album when it first came out, and I’m pretty obsessed with BK. Then 1 or 2 tracks creeped up on me… and now I think it’s up there with their best work. I’ve rarely seen musicians play so far inside their own comfort zone and still sounding amazing. Just effortlessly naturally good. I’ve always found blues kinda boring, but not this…
Thank you Black Keys for spotlighting these cotton patch blues! A true public service to resurrect wonderful music that might have been lost to posterity.
Thank you for this album. The last 2 years have sucked, just in general, but all of my heroes I grew up listening to are dying. Another one every week, it seems. Makes my heart happy hearing new music that sounds this damn good. Real, not auto-tuned music. Hope for the future. The album has been on repeat since I heard it the first time. Not many albums like that.
3:50 when Kenny Brown is finishing up his solo and Dan jumps in sounds great. Great mix and the way they pass the flag right there is real smooth and it’s not Dan trying to be loud and butt in. KB has some nice licks.
I didn't realise that was Kenny Brown until your comment, even with the KB on his guitar lol. I only recently came across him while he played for RL Burnside. Mind-blowing!
I'm going down south, I'm going down south Going down south, I'm going down south Chilly wind don't blow I'm going with you babe, I'm going with you babe Going with you babe, I'm going with you babe Don't care where you go Some other man, some other man Some other man, some other man He's always hanging around I'd rather be dead, rather be dead Rather be dead, I'd rather be dead Six feet in the ground I'm going down south, going down south Going down south, I'm going down south Chilly wind don't blow
My best sounding album for 2021...real pure beauty...and eric deaton playing on a simple middle range squier bass ...so when the sound and the soul are together there's nothing left to say...beautiful...Greetings from Morocco 😇😉🤙
I swear that guitar solo quotes one of the licks they used a bunch on the Jon Spencer backed version on A Ass Pocket Of Whiskey. If it's intentional I'm exceptionally happy about that.
By the way, we are an upcoming band who are very inspired by the music of the Black Keys. If you are interested, head over there 👈 and let us know what you think of our songs. Especially now, it is very hard for new bands to let people hear their music. Your support would help us a lot!
Too much great songs to pick one tbh.. but I can say that I really dig the new album!! Checked your songs out as well btw. Really good stuff mate, i'm impressed. Keep it going!
Thanks. Too much good ! Always ! Yesterday, I did listen to El Camino ! I love it 🌞✨ Yeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh ! Huuuuuuuuuummmmmmmm ! My dream actually : to see you and to listen to you in reality without ANY fool law but with real freedom. 🦅🇺🇸🇫🇷 🇫🇷🌳
Listened to the album a BUNCH on the lake Up North (Wisconsin that is)...Perfection of ALL the senses with a little nip between the fingers and the toes tappin’...Just great music. Thank you BK’s.
RL Burnside and The Black Keys, my favourite blues sounds merged into this piece of paradise💓
❤

Oh also, if you haven’t already, check out R.L.’s grandson Cedric Burnside. He’s just as awesome as his grandad.
I actually lost a lot of songs a couple of weeks back and for the love of God I couldn't remember the name RL Burnside and neither the song name (see my jumper hanging on the line) and then I saw your comment today. Thank you!!!
Delta Cream was such an underrated album. There was such a great balance between the delta blues and TBKs je ne sais quoi
Nice, dude

Best blues album of the last 10 years
Love how the black keys have really helped put North Mississippi Hill Country blues on the map.
This jam just gives me so much joy. The whole album does. Can’t stop listening to it.

kenny brown took the spotlight 😭😭 wow so talented
Had the new album on repeat for two weeks now. I don’t care how tired the trailer park is of it.
Kenny Brown, what a fucking firestorm. You all should tour with him.
Hopefully The Black Keys go on tour promoting this album with Kenny Brown and Eric Deaton.
I need a live version of “Poor boy long way from home” 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I've been listening to this new album constantly and it just keeps getting better.
What a tune, love that the Black keys are going back to this blues sound.
Man Kenny Brown got tone and style for DAAAAAAYS
For those whose love blues, The Black Keys is giving us a full bucket of it. Estupendous.
Thank you for making this year better. I thought we were never going to get an album like Chulahoma again.
My favorite music is the black keys
Another Grammy album ♥️
I just was looking for a nice video to test my brand new headphones (HD650) and this was it. I am crying in joy, jeeeeez...

Un blues du sud profond jusqu'au désert africain. un régal
The soulful vocals take my breath away.
Someone with terrible music taste said the falsetto was bad. Wtf?
Kenny Brown's work with RL Burnside on the Burnside on Burnside live CD is epic.🔥🎸🔥

Great cover. My favorite version is still the North Mississippi Allstars with R.L. Burnside.
North Mississippi Allstars are amazing even when it’s just Luther and Cody playing as a duo.
Love NMA, RL & Kenny Brown.
