Yeah that dynamic behringer basically screws with the whole point of diminishing return. At $20 there’s not much reason for normal people to spend more.
You're a superhero, Bandrew! The law of diminishing returns is such an important concept, I feel like every gear comparison video should be talking about it
I use a Rode Procaster for solo work, but I have six of those Behringer XM8500 mics for podcasting- when you multiply it by 6 the price makes total sense, being so close to the SM58 in performance.
I choose NT1 over mics 5 times in price, including a TM103 or 416. Top, bottom and mid, it’s smooth, quiet and articulate. Closest thing to perfection.
Yeah, I came to a similar conclusion. The AT4050 or TLM193 are comparable but much more expensive. Though when absolute quietness isnt that important, a small diaphragm condenser like the NT5 is even better.
Might pick up like 5 xm8500s to just have on hand (I work in live sound, lot of corporate work but a little bit of everything). At like $20 it’s almost no different sounding then a sm58 so why the hell not?
Hey what do yout think about sE Electronics T2? How different is it from a 4400a? There are many comparisons of other authors on the net, but I would like to hear your opinion as a professional. Thanks for Your work!
One budget line of mics to check out are the Fifines. The Fifine K669B USB condenser mic is $30 and sometimes goes on sale - I recently bought it in the T669 bundle with the mic, shock mount, scissor arm, pop filter and small stand on sale for $42. Another Fifine USB condenser mic to check out is its bigger brother, the K683a. And for a USB dynamic mic, Fifine makes their S7MB-competitor called the K658 which often goes on sale for $75. The quality they offer for the price is ridiculous.
I’ve had mine for like 7+ years now and use it for RUclips videos I make and I love it. Absolutely worth the price if you want a great sounding mic without spending too much or being too cheap sounding
Hey you mentioned the AT875r. I use that microphone for all my voiceovers. I tried the Shure Sm58 which was way too dark and not enough detail for my voice. The AT875r is also a little dark but okay. I like the Rode NT USB though it picks up more background noise.
You should try the Superlux Sonata 88S. It's an SM58 style dynamic. And the price is about $50 for a SIXPACK! Yes, you do get 6 microphones! How good it is? I could tell you, of course, but I'll leave that for you to discover (except to say that it was better than I expected for the price).
the XM8500 and BA 85A mics from Behringer really are way too good for $20 and $25-30 mics, respectively. I have 2 of each, and I usually use the XM mics for putting a mic to guitar cabs, and the BA super cardioid I use for vocals, as it is better with noise rejection and handling noise, with a very similar response curve to the XM mic.
I’m just wondering I bought the blue baby bottle sl with the scarlet solo interface but would you say the sm7b was a better option or should I stick with the baby bottle?
Great review as always. I'm a happy Shure SM7b & MV7. Just for fun bought the RE320 and returned it because it sounded really awful and harsh in my voice. Because I wanted to buy another mic, give it a shot to the new Donner PO-8 (reviewed by Obscure Mics) and #dammmnnnn, it sounds IMO better than both Shures at a bargain.
Im incredibly happy that I bought the behringer xm8500 for 20 dollars not only does outclasses most of the mics in the 50 dollars category but it can match up to the shure sm58
Gasp! Where is the EM91c at $59.99! jkjkkjk. Diminishing returns is a very real thing with mics. Some mics hit really hard for the money. Other mics don't sound much better than the cheaper mics.
You should do a "Best mic for streamers/gamers" video. It would get a ton of views. You could compare all of the new usb mics. There is a ton of them and hard to pick one.
His room is treated pretty well. He makes in his bigger comparisons tests in an untreated room as well. Check those out and compare that for yournown curiosity and aha Moment eventually. :-)

what is better, the behringer or the samson q2u
Here I am again, watching this on my cell phone speaker. Like an idiot.
Danke!

Was there something wrong with the 441 ? It sounds terrible.
Ya... I notice that too.🙂
It sounded much better when he used it on his podcast about a month ago.
Maybe... A cable problem... 🙂🙂
Because lce440 sounds very good...

Still happy with my Austrian Audio OC18. Same sweet sound as the OC818 just without the various patterns or the price :)
Although if the OC16 sounds as good just without the pad and one less setting in the filter I’d be tempted to get a stereo pair.

R Johnson I agree and own one too! Not disappoint in any way. Rode is outstanding for their microphone products.
The sm57 sounds good imo. With a pop filter it'll do good for recording vocals.
Yup, SM58 is basically a 57 with a pop filter
Might pick up like 5 xm8500s to just have on hand (I work in live sound, lot of corporate work but a little bit of everything). At like $20 it’s almost no different sounding then a sm58 so why the hell not?
Please make a similar video about headphones

The NT1 is incredible for the price, I can barely believe how good it sounds!

Thanks, again, Bandrew!
Thank you.

What's good for gaming and won't pick up keyboard or background noise
would you ever review the lewit lct 840? or compare it to the tlm 103 since they are pretty much the same price
I did not expect the outro
Thank you, great video! But I think your MD441 might be broken. Mine has tons of low end; comparable to the RE20.
You should try the Superlux Sonata 88S. It's an SM58 style dynamic.

What's your opinion on the SM27 for voice over and ASMR (keyboard build)

OC818 sounds amazing
Why dont compared At4040.... It is great too..
And i like it better than lct440 pure..🙂🙂
Ah-May-Zing as usual!
Love the ksm32!
Im incredibly happy that I bought the behringer xm8500 for 20 dollars not only does outclasses most of the mics in the 50 dollars category but it can match up to the shure sm58
This design makes me feel handsome when I take it out! Hahaha
The Shure SV100 and Pyle PDMIC58 sound like you're being strangled.
Damn the OC818 is worth it 😭
I preferred the timbre of that to the U87i in this particular demo. I am curious to hear that against a JZ67.
Long time MKH 416'er here and I'll never go back
ironic, since that mic is so lonnnnnng!
@cgriesemer -It’s the best.

One more category is USB:)
Timestahmps!!
*Obligatory "why didn't you include the mic I like?" comment*
And they are only as good as the preamp you are using!
"81-8" lol
Rank $/quality
5:23 this is the most popular microphone in the Chinese communist party

Man I must be doing something horribly wrong, I have a rodepod that doesn’t sound anywhere near as good as any of these.
His room is treated pretty well. He makes in his bigger comparisons tests in an untreated room as well. Check those out and compare that for yournown curiosity and aha Moment eventually. :-)
Forgot Audio Technica AT4040
SV100 and SV200 sound like garbage. Why Shure? Why?
