When you spoke about needing extra time to create your art, and the feeling of unworthiness in comparison to others, it really hit home for me. A few years ago I heard a quote attributed to Andy Warhol. He said, “Don’t worry about making art. Just do your work and let others decide whether or not it’s art.” Every time I feel that sense of foreboding, I repeat that phrase and get on with it. The words have been very helpful.

1000% agree, I'm healing every single day but some days all of the patience I've collected and looked after can't help me when I'm angry or out of control. I'm starting my six months to life today, I keep on staying I'm am or just announcing what I'm going to do and not doing. I understand what I want for myself I just need to start working towards it. I just need to commit to the fear and start, Thank you Sarra. I need this.

One change I made about my home being so cluttered was to straighten up the area before I leave it. Now, when I walk into the room, everything is neat and tidy. ... I know putting your toys away is no fun, but it takes just as much time to lay a couple of books on the floor as it does to put them away now. It only takes a second to shut a door on the machine or push the drawer all the way in or close a closet door. Those extra seconds will drastically change how your environment feels, as you are respecting the room and yourself... Here's my rule: 5 minutes. If it's going to take less than 5 minutes, I do it now. 💖🌞🌵😷

Another thing I changed about my home being cluttered (like you) is shopping... But my rule is: I can buy it if I have a place to put it. If there's not a home for the new thing, I either have to forget about it or something else has to go, so the new thing has a place to live. 💖🌞🌵😷

One of the main things I've learned from watching your journey as a writing newbie is that it's not going to get any easier. There's going to be tears and late nights, struggles and blocks. And that sounds like a bad thing but what put me off writing for yrs was all the creative suffering and seeing that it's just part of the process gives me courage. It's not something to be avoided. It's something to push through.

Sarra, you inspire me so much. These talks really help more than you could know. It’s so hard to make the big necessary changes that will bring about more happiness, especially when the payoff is so gradual and not instant. It really is all about the mindset ❤️

I was a dog walker & pet sitter for 17 years. Almost never had a planned day off. Loved the dogs & cats but got burned out. You need time to rest! I needed time to rest my legs! (I was walking 45 to 50 miles or more per week, every week, every day of the week.)

Here's the thing about not being as good a writer and being embarrassed about needing more time to finish a book.... You got it backwards! In every profession that I can think of... the novice is expected to take more time. Take a carpenter, it takes me (a novice) 3-4 wacks with a hammer to drive a nail, my Dad (20-year veteran) can drive that same nail in one blow. Let me know of some task where the veteran or expert takes more time than the novice? Because none comes to mind... So why should it be different for writers? 💖🌞🌵😷

Hey Sarra just letting you know KU is exclusive for 90 days, after that you can take it down and publish it anywhere. I didn't know this until someone told me and I looked it up.

I am originally from Pittsburgh PA. When I was in high school, some one analyzed my hand writing and said, "You would like to live near mountains, or a city that had buildings like mountains." Pittsburgh is mountainous. And then I moved to the concrete canyons of Manhattan! Now days, I live on Staten Island (the highest elevation, on the coast, south of Maine.) I find I also like to live near water. I think the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge is the most beautiful bridge in America! (It's also the LONGEST! By about 30 meters!) I live near it! I can walk to near-by Von Briesen Park and can see it! I retired and am thinking of moving. I am thinking of places I can move to that have water, mountains & bridges!

Funny that I would stumble upon this at this time because I have been feeling the need to do something like this for awhile now. You have helped me with some perspective, thank you. I need to make some serious changes, a whole life overhaul. I am keeping the husband though. haha Thanks for sharing this! :D

I put off watching this video for way to long. So now that I'm alone at home for 2 weeks (well, ok, the kittehs are there with me, lol) I decided it was time.
Well, I did well, because it is very inspiring. I've been thinking about doing something similar for a few months, but my depression (and flashbacks to traumatic stuff) and my hormones that have been all over the place, plus stuff that's kept me busy have exhausted the heck out of me mentally and physically, so I always had difficulty finding a way to plan out stuff in a way that wouldn't just burn me out after two weeks... I've tried and failed and it's been quite frustrating.
Anways! The way you went about the method and how you plan to incorporate it is brilliant.
I do need to change my life near completely and it is very daunting. When your life is entangled so much with someone else and a child is involved and you need to change nearly all of everything... I found that it is anxiety inducing. And I suffer from depression and generalized anxiety disorder, so... yay, fun xD
I think my first step will be to clean one thing from my space per day, and do one thing that relaxes/fuels me and makes me happy and/or relaxed.

Bright Line sounds like it was derived from Greysheet! I followed Greysheet during 1996 and lost 125 pounds in 11 months. I kept it off until I stopped following Greysheet around 2001. Greysheet is: No bread, No pasta, no complex carbs at all! (Even certain high carb beans are excluded!) It's mostly carefully measured amounts of protein with each meal. A piece of fruit with the morning meal (the only carb all day) and a salad with cooked vegetables with the noontime and evening meals! No eating between meals. Water & diet soda are OK, all day.
Greysheet is derived from AA and we read the AA Big Book for Abstinence. We had regular meetings to maintain our Abstinence. For me, being 173 pounds was so much better than being 298 pounds! I hit hard times from 2001 to about 2008 and started my ice cream & beer diet. I became a Type II Diabetic and gained 100 pounds. (Even while walking dogs 5 to 7 miles per day almost every day of the week. It's NOT about exercise!)
One big problem is that Greysheet was a New York City phenomenon and especially focused on Manhattan! Greysheet was derived from OA (Over-Eaters Anon.) The diet plan is one OA discarded decades ago. (It's printed on a grey sheet of paper - thus Greysheet.)
Over the years, several people have written self help books derived from the principles of AA, NA (Narcotics Anon), DA (Debtors Anon), SAA (Sexual-Addiction Anon) and Greysheet. Back around 1998 to 2000 a couple young women from local New York groups published as series of self-help books about, "The Rules!" They hit the New York Times best sellers list! These were supposedly the rules your grand-mother would have taught you! (But they mostly derived from AA, NA, DA, SAA & Greysheet.)

Would publish and thrive be useful for non-US based authors? If you’re discussing opening a publishing house etc then I’m wondering whether at least parts of the course might not apply to me? I’d love to take the course otherwise

That's another point: Read all labels and don't buy a product if sugar or a sugar substitute are higher than 5 on the list! Also don't buy "low fat" or "no fat" products since they always substitute carbs for fat!

As for exercise, I'm going to take up dancing. But you could kill three birds with one stone... get your kids together, put on a happy song, and dance around the house. A song is usually only 3-4 minutes long. So they are easy to fit in anywhere there's a gap in your time blocking system. 🥳. 💖🌞🌵😷

I know your problem with motivation. Some place in your brain, there is a "light switch." You can talk all you want about, "I'm gonna diet!," "I'm gonna count calories!" "I'm gonna count carbs." But you're in the dark! It's all just blah, blah, blah until you reach over and turn that "light switch" ON! And ILLUMINATION! Then it's, "Now I mean business and NOTHING is gonna stop me!"
