Illuminative, well articulated, needed discussion, it opened my heart to an increased understanding of the meaning of Christ's sacrifice. Thank you both for giving beautiful examples of how and why in your personal lives you have learned to "lean into" suffering. Prayers for your families, you, and your ministries.

Great episode and thanks for the personal stories. My mom has a chronic and debilitating condition that I struggle with, this podcast has helped my understanding of her seemingly needless pain.

I'm honestly not sure if Reformed tradition borrowed that from Catholicism or Catholicism borrowed that from Reformed.
But it's very similar to what I've heard reformed people preaching in God's active vs passive will or something like that.

you had me at several distinct Parts throughout this share... Mainly there's more to life than just suffering hemming meaning? I forgot exactly what time during the podcast that would be the quote you gave and which I'm referring to.. So forgive me for not being clear.. But throughout the podcast the distinctions kept being made about suffering in such a way that it was even more revelatory than Archbishop Fulton Sheen talks of which I've heard most of them on RUclips

Fathers, could you please make an episode talking about penance? Why is it that so many saints seemed to extol suffering, even the seeking of suffering? Why would it be valuable to God that we would take up a voluntary suffering, such as a hairshirt or a pebble in the shoe or similar non-damaging yet inconvenient things? It makes perfect sense that we accept and embrace the sufferings Providence puts on our path, but I don't see how seeking discomfort would be spiritually beneficial. It sounds even a bit pagan... as if we are "paying a price" and now we want the receive the goods - a blessing, forgiveness, or whatever it is.

Hello, This was recorded on Zoom, so the screen size was just set to make sure that both friars could be viewed throughout the duration of the video.
