  • Röskö is a campsite located by the Lake Ätäskö in Kitee, Finland. The campsite is owned by a local Scouts foundation 'Kiteen Karhupojat Partiosäätiö sr.' The premises of Röskö have been used even for recording studio purposes by Nightwish since Imaginaerum.
Please, call before visiting and ask if a visit is posible!
Thanks a LOT to Plamen Dimov for his kindness and patience to show us these places and for sharing his stories about the members of Nightwish when they where his students.

There are plenty of hidden houses and cabins at the woods. 😉 Each small pathway you drove past, leads to at least one (usually more). Finns love to stay hidden...

It's nice to see that you enjoyed the experience but where in the world did you get the facts?
    1. "Public buildings are usually yellow"? 😂 No such thing in Finland at least.
    2. Saunas are everywhere, yes, but the most importantly they can be found in almost every home.
    3. Moose towers can also be found everywhere, they are _moose_ towers indeed. And latest estimates state that there are less than 2 000 bears in Finland vs. 100 000 moose.
    4. Röskö camping center was built in 1950s and has served for decades as a Evangelical Lutheran confirmation school place and boy-/girlscouts' place.

One comment to the point 1. Red is typical color for ordinary people wooden houses because the original color comes from material which is relatively plenty and easy the get from the typical soil. Before real industrial time of paint manufacturing this was the way to coat wooden houses in order to protect moisture. Also yellow material was found but it was rare and more expensive. Therefore Manor and Estate owners and some vicarages were only painted in yellow (showing their wealth too). Public buildings somewhat copied this idea but not necessary. Yellow imitates also "gold" and gives "value" to the building. White came later too...specially for stone buildings and industrial (plastic) paint era.

No need to be rude. To give you some examples, the presidencial Palance, the senate, the university of Helsinki, the Oslo palace are clear examples of the yellow color. History is written, then it is up to us which pages to read.
If you are interested in explaining your points of views, then you can have your own channel. Cya

@@CaroxElMundo😂 I beg your pardon. I didn't mean to be rude but simply to correct some misinformation (these are not opinions). LOL I don't need any "pages", I live here and have been living all my life. The Oslo Palace??? Well talk about the wrong pages indeed... 🤣

@@CaroxElMundo I think a native knows these things better. The colors used depend on time periods, who owned them etc. Some areas use only red because it is the traditional color in that area, repeating in traditional fashion and such. Ps. Oslo cannot be compared as Norway and Finland have very little common ground concerning this topic.
