    Excellent clear, concise, video - Thank you so much for speaking at a comprehensible, conversational pace. Many videos are "speed-talked" so that you hardly have time to register the words, let alone file the thought in your brain - so stressful to try to listen to.
    Do either of these companies make clip-ons for blue light (with a little yellow) when you already have prescription computer glasses? With Felix Gray make computer glasses with my prescription magnification (2.5)? +.25? My next computer glasses will probably be made by one of these companies, but in the meantime, I could use a clip-on. Do I only need blue-light, since I have prescription computer lenses already?

    So if I am a programmer and I look at code for long periods of time and plan on taking the glasses off when not using the computer, would the .25 magnification benefit me or would I be better off without the magnification?

      Hi @Annie Mighdoll, I actually do wear a pair of Gunnars - had them for about two years now. Overall I'm pretty happy with them. They do help my eyes. I don't mind the magnification but I don't like the heavy tint. I think the author of the video gave a fair rundown, but for my two cents - if my next pair is Felix Gray instead of a Gunnar it would be for one of two reasons: the more casual frames (as I'm not into the gamer/geek aesthetic) and because it seems like I can get more BPF with less tint. Hopefully more options like that will make it into the Gunnar catalogue in time for my next purchase :) Cheers

    Hello, thanks for the video, just wondering, is it safe for me to use the Gunnar glasses with magnification having in mind that I haven't weared prescription glasses ever? I have tried the Pixel Kura glasses and I would like to choose the Gunnar before the Felix Gray because of the higher BPF (I use screens 5+ everyday).

    Ive watched so many of you videos and i cant make up my mind haha. I do a lot of computer work at work and am on the computer a decent amount for gaming/entertainment.
    Ive tried my sisters old pair before (clear but i dont remember the company maybe gunnar? she works in design) and i feel like it hurt my eyes more. Was that because of the magnification that im not used to? Should i go for blf glasses like spektrum/prospek?

      Sorry for such a late reply. If I had to take one set of glasses to a deserted island I would reach for my Felix Gray glasses. Not to say I dislike the Gunnar, Pixel or any other brands, I just have a frame that I really like from FG and the lenses are top notch.
      I wouldn't start with power in the lens to start with so I wouldn't go with Gunnar quite yet.

    Ive tried gunnars and the magnification irritated my eyes too much. It would be nicer if they’re was x .10 option rather than .25 imo. I know Most zero magnification glasses in general give a slight magnification due to curve in lens but it would still be nice for more options...

  • @Mojo_DK

  • @adrenalinerush369
    @adrenalinerush369 5 лет назад +2

    Own a crystalline non-prescription Gunnar Intercept. Heavy, fatiguing to wear for long periods esp nose area (Dunno if it matters but my nose bridge isn't that high, not exactly flat either). It's quite 'heavy'. Wearing it with headphones like Philips SHP 9500 and Sennheiser HD 5XX pinches the sides over long periods (personally feeling it after 1 hour). There's also a slight magnification which can get annoying. The lenses smudge easily too. BUT despite these cons imo, it helped reduce my eye strain - does its job I guess but just the frame could be better.

    • @EyeInfluence
      @EyeInfluence  5 лет назад

      I was never able to get totally adjusted to the power in gunnar lenses. The curve on the lenses can also cause the issue.

      No, there is no discomfort since there is no power and no decentration.

    Thanks a lot for your videos. I wonder what could be the cons of wearing computer lenses with magnification for people who dont need prescribed glasses? Why would some people dont like them? considering its hard to know if you will feel comfortable with them or not when you buy the online.
    Would I miss out a lot of benefits(or something crutial) if I decide to buy them without magnification?

    • @EyeInfluence
      @EyeInfluence  5 лет назад

      The biggest con is that you can become dependant on the power in the lenses and eventually have a hard time going back to not wearing them.
      Best suggestion I can give is to not start with powered lenses. If you have digital eye strain you should take regular breaks and allow your eyes to rest.
      Blue light filtering glasses (no power) are great for transitioning into a proper sleeping pattern. This is backed by science so I like to suggest it for that use.
      Breaks, breaks breaks. Thats where everyone should start. Then if all else fails, go for the lenses with power.
      A visit to your eye doctor is always a good idea too.

      No. You should make your computer glasses according to your doctors prescription. If you can, make a set of glasses using that prescription but with the optical center placed using your Near PD. Your local optician can take this measurement for you.

    • @EyeInfluence
      @EyeInfluence  4 года назад +1

      It sounds like you may need prescription glasses for distance. If that's the case, use your doctors written prescription to have a set of glasses made. If it's for the TV, you want to have them made as a standard set of glasses, not computer glasses with the decentered pupilary distance.

    Good evening ! I am from india and work in the software industry. Recently, I had 1.25 addition power lenses made for both my eyes using Verilax Liberty progressive glass. However, I did not feel comfortable working on the computer for long periods of time, so I switched to intermediate lenses, which work better for me, but without the added power.
    I have a question regarding Eyezen lenses. Is it possible to customize them to include only intermediate distance as well as our own add power of 1.25 from your Rx prescription into their lens? I am looking for a computer lens with an added power of 1.25. Please advise if this is possible.

    Thank you -- very nice and informative videos. I love the lower key approach. I first tried Gunnar's at CES in 2007 or 2008: about 9:00 PM, feeling exhausted, eyes were dry and hurting. I asked the guy at Gunnar's table why eyeware at an electronics show. He said try them on. The first thing I did on returning home was to go to the optician and get a pair. Back then, Gunnar's styles were more curved than they are today. It seemed to me that the curved lenses improved eye moisture. I live in Colorado and CES is in Las Vegas so dry eye is an issue. Any thoughts on that?

    • @EyeInfluence
      @EyeInfluence  5 лет назад +1

      Gunnar has that style more than any other blue light glasses makers that I can think of. Blue Shark Optics makes one that almost looks like cycling glasses. If you really want it curved that might be a good choice. Other than that most makers have styles that are flat.
      The reason why curved frames work better for people with dry eyes is because it reduces air contact on your eyes which reduces the moisture evaporation rate.
      Hope this helps. Thanks for reaching out.

    I appreciate the video! I do have a question for anyone reading/the author... a few months back I bought some Crystalline Gunnars and I returned them because I am very aware there is a piece of plastic between my eyes and the monitor. I couldn't get over it due to how distracting I found it. I'm a Creative Director, so having a color shift in my lens is not something I am willing to consider.
    1) Has anyone else found this?
    2) Is there a brand where people didn't have this issue?
    3) Are blue tent lenses all plastic? Does anyone make these types of lenses out of glass?

    • @EyeInfluence
      @EyeInfluence  5 лет назад +3

      Great questions.
      1) if you didn't wear glasses as a child then you're going to be more aware of the lenses. Depending on your mind's ability to assimilate, you may never lose that awareness of the lenses.
      2)Anti Blue Light coatings are very noticable. I've found that Felix Gray lenses have a coating that is more of a true anti-glare coating. It has very little color. If that coating still doesn't do it you may need to have custom lenses made with a premium coating like the Crizal Sapphire.
      3) To the best of my knowledge there are no computer glasses/blue light glasses made with glass lenses. You would have to make custom glasses through an optical retailer.
      Hope this info helps.

      First step would be to cut back on screen time. glasses will not solve all the problems cause by digital eye strain. The main problem is simply over straining our eyes. Try taking breaks every 15-20 minutes by looking away from your screen and taking long blinks or closing your eyes. That will be my suggestion. At 17, you shouldn't need computer glasses.

    • @EyeInfluence
      @EyeInfluence  5 лет назад +1

      The decentered PD on gunnar glasses is best for PC gaming. I wouldn't use their glasses for console gaming because the decentered PD is actually working against the natural position your eye wants to be in.
      Go for Pixel or Felix Gray glasses without magnification if you want blue light filtering for gaming on a TV.
      Hope this helps.

      If it's a slight power then no. You may find yourself depending on the power so I don't like to suggest getting lenses with power unless you absolutely need it.

    With Perception Glasses does Gunner add that + 0.25 to them? probably a dumb question

    • @EyeInfluence
      @EyeInfluence  4 года назад +1

      No such thing as a dumb question. When ordering according to a doctors prescription, Gunnar must make the glasses exactly as the doctor prescribed. They will not add the +.25.

      I wear prescription so I have Shamir Zero Blue lenses with the Shamir Glacier AR Coating. I love them! For non-prescription wearers it would be overkill. The cost would be over $500 usd
      I test so many blue light glasses when I have contacts that I can't say I only wear one set. I can say that I've tried over 10 Felix Gray glasses and I love them. Gunnar has yet to return my request to collab so I've only tried 2 pairs.

    So then if I wanted glasses that I could wear everyday (like driving, walking around) but also help with eye dryness I shouldn't wear any of these types but just stick to my regular prescriptions? I look at screens on average 4-6 hours a day (phone, LCD TV).

    • @EyeInfluence
      @EyeInfluence  5 лет назад

      If you have a glasses prescription then I would stick to that 100%. If you wanted computer glasses you can use your prescription and ask for blue light filters like Essilor Essential blue with the anti-reflective coating of your choice.

    I'd be careful with this review. I have no idea how anyone can claim Gunnar does not make it completely clear you are receiving lenses with magnification since you are specifically required to select the level of magnificent level you will recieve.

      Those two are completely different products. Gunnar is a superior product in just about every way. I would only suggest getting Spektrum glasses if you're simply looking to get blue light blocking lenses.
      I actually reviewed Spektrum and found their frames to be well made and the lens coating to be good. Gunnar and Felix Gray just happen to be in a different category.

    I get weird feelings like few hours after playing certain games. Bright flashes and stuff. Then I’ll feel like the need to tense up body and just a terrible feeling in my head..not a headache, but like I will see the light flashes and feel just off and want to tense muscles in legs and arms..it’s really scary! Been like that for years.
    I’m wondering if a pair of sAy the Felix gray would help me? I don’t want any magnification, I have really good eyesight and don’t want to hurt that.
    Do you think a pair would help me?
    Thanks!

      aWatchmanOnTheWall Hey bud, just wondering, have you ever talked to your doctor about this? I’m no doc myself but I’m wondering if this might be some form of epilepsy. Just a thought.

    • @aWatchmanOnTheWall
      @aWatchmanOnTheWall 5 лет назад

      Dylan Farnham I’ve mentioned it and they just look at me and be like “yeah. “
      Reason they do that is because I have anxiety/panic attack s from time to time so they just assume I over think everything and that’s my problem. Whatever. I know how I feel. For example i can play “just cause 3” for hours on end and be totally fine and can go to sleep just fine as well.
      If I play the newest version even for a hour or so, I get that reaction were I want to tense up and feel off. It goes away, just takes a bit. Just cause 4 has some explosions that have a bright white flash and its constant on some areas of the map because the AI is fighting. So I dot play that game.
      But here is the odd thing, I use to play socom Navy seals and there was some darker maps and no explosions and yet has the reaction and I remember a few of them because they were so bad. I shut off the tv and felt like I could see the game in my head and felt the need to tense and almost want to like scream to try to hold on to myself..so odd.
      I’ve been playing ghost recon woodlands and feel fine...the new one comes out Friday and I’m concerned about the flashes during explosions, looks more realistic and really bright at times. That’s why I’m thinking of the Felix grays with no magnification.
      Thanks for the reply/concern

      I would suggest starting with regular breaks. That's where the eye strain really comes from. Glasses can help but at the end of the day our eyes need more rest. I see that you've already been to an eye doctor but if you haven't got the answers you're looking for you can always see a specialist. Ophthalmologists will take a closer look so that might be an option.
      You can certainly try computer glasses but I think you should really see a pro.

      I think it’s the flicker/blue light from games like ghost recon were there is explosions and muzzle fire from the gun. Not sure what to do. I do know from looking on amazon, a lot of them are fake if you read thru the comments. People take them to eye doctor and try tell them there is no blue filter.. do you know a pair on amazon that is not fake? Would like to try a pair from $20-$40 first and see how they work for me. Before I buy Felix ones.
