Can i replace one with the other in welding machine. Most of the igbt Which I replace are blowing up. I even check the gate pulse in DSO and the gate pulse seems normal. What can be the probable cause. Please help.
we cannot replace 40n60 with 40t60, because 40t60 is trenchstop series and it have fast recovery diode inside. while 40n60 is a simple IGBT 40t60 have VCE(sat) 1.55V while 40n60 have 2.5 V

Hello Haseeb, I am currently strungling to to repair a SMPS were the controller is faulty. I could not identify the part no so I ordered the xn1049 - seems to similar to sg6848.. When I switch power on, the gate output shows a burst of 45ms with a small duty cycle. In order to keep working it needs to be controlles by FB. But during startup the optpkoppler ist open und FB ist eg. 5.5V or 4.8v at sg6848. How can that work? What signal delivers gate output during the startup phase? Does it drive the Mosfet as long as FB is controlled by over output voltage? Any hint?
please check VCC pin if it have stable dc voltage or Not. check startup resistor and aux voltage circuit (diode and resistor) it must work. as you mentioned it is in brust mode, that means the IC is trying to start but it fails to find auxillary voltage (on vcc pin, as vcc pin first takes from startup resistor connected on positive DC rail and vcc pin. when circuit will start switching and will recieve feedback, that time it will maintaing its freq at 65KHz) but in your case it is limiting itself at 22KHz brust mode, due to missing of feedback or vcc voltage if feedback pin is high, that means there is something wrong in secondary side, that is most probable reason in your condition
@@HaseebElectronics I checked VCC (it comes from a standby trafo) and GND. The problem is: the original faulty part was a SMD one and it is already discontinued. So I found DIP-version and prepared a workaround. After start the new chip immedeately reduces the duty rate to the lmnit caused by current sense input. So the charging pump creates to less power to push the output to its limit and to start controlling via optocoupler. Does it makes sense to increase the switching frequency from 65kHz up to e.g. 80kHz? May be snubber circuitry or flyback trafo ist damaged. I will check it.

@@HaseebElectronics Snubber seems to be alright. The transformer just has 0.04mH. Is that typical for 100kHZ and 50W output?
Got it! A simple diode in the secondary side was defekt, so it reduces the induction that the referenz voltage could not reach its regulation level.
