I go with a few of my good friends Rifle Deer Hunting in Pennsylvania! One of my friends, Jason Nolf, is a former wrestler at Penn State University and was a 4x finalist and 3x National Champion! He gets a chance at a deer on our hunt!

Both the first doe and your 260 yard buck reacted strongly to being shot. Sometimes blood isn’t easy to find, but if the hunter walks in the direction the critter ran, they are often laying there. That buck looked heart shot, which is why he kicked so high. At 260 yards your round may not have exited his body. He’s probably laying about 100 yards in the direction he ran.
@@pamtnman1515 first off both of these deer we looked for a long time to make sure they were not hit and there was no blood anywhere and we followed the direction they went for hundreds of yards… in future videos I will add this content. second off we saw the same buck a few days later. I do wish I got that buck though trust me.
@@VaughnHolderman we have been using tracking dogs the past several years. Tracking dogs revealed to me how poor at followup I am, despite successful hunting for 48 years. I hate to admit it, but if it helps others recover their deer, then it’s worth it.
more range time, it works, gonna follow this page, from PA and come back to hunt every year, 9 of last 10 shots dropped a deer, the miss was a bad hit and buck was taken next morning by another guy, get some range time

Nice job brother. God bless. Making me homesick. Grew up in Pa but never hunted. I was busy with football and wrestling. Now I live out west and hunt like crazy. I still intend to go back and shoot a Whitetail from the Whitetail state

We used to have big deer drives in the 70's. It was really almost a military operation in doe season. We would stack them up.
Biggest adrenaline of all time is when you’re out in the Woods and you hear a grunt or a deer blow🦅
Struggled hard this year in 2g. Lot more camps came up this year then I've seen in the last 10. Good video and good luck next season.

I shot a buck last year with .270, not a drop of blood. Light coat of snow. Ran from open field to grown up sidehill. Found a trail w fresh tracks and looked down the hill. There he laid belly up. Wouldn't have found him if he hadn't. Entrance hole is so small and hit both shoulders so it didn't exit.

Please review footage of the first shot at the second doe. Look at her left front leg right after the shot. It looks like a hit to me, but I wasn't there.
I know where your coming from. But after he shot the deer ran out to are left where he couldn’t shoot and this deer was not hit. We checked shot thorough and followed the deer for a few hundred yards. He was shooting a .308 and I think it would have drew some blood of some sort with any kind of hit and after following for a few hundred yards we were confident he missed.

I c o o n e d hunted southern Pennsylvania quite a bit as a youth you have to be a damn billy goat some of the places we ended up is unbelievable and nowadays you have GPS and everything like that and it's not like you can stay on a trail when the dogs go wherever they want but I 1 Grand Night Champion there

Just some advice, when you're coaching someone try to stay calm. If you're freaking out, it doesn't help their situation.

What kind of camera do you use
So,would your Buddy have shot another doe right away if it appeared after the presumed miss.Didn’t even check right away for a hit?Just curious..You clearly state maybe another will come and sit there and then go check.Not bashing ,just going by what you said in that instant.I thought it was hit also the way it reacted.Keep on making videos.
Yes he had a buck tag as well so he would have shot if a buck came out sorry I didn’t specify in heat of the moment. I also had a buck and doe tag just so you know… In a deer drive you do not jump up and check shot while drive is still going on..
What areas of 4d and 2G do you hunt?
Some in moshannon state forest in 4D and out near quehanna highway in 2g... I also have some private land I hunt in those areas
@@VaughnHolderman that’s not too far from the area I hunt. I’m a little farther east, but still in 4D and go into 2G.
You ever use a bergara?
No I never have
I hunt with a 308 and it’s a lever action. It’s a 88 Winchester and I know that gun very well and how it shoots. At 300 yards I aim just about over his back and it will drop in perfectly
About the same on the 30-06.
Pretty much set the cross hair right on top of the back and you'll have a perfect heart shot every time
Thanks for the input.. I am going to practice long distance before next season so I am prepared if I ever get another long shot..
@@rowdybroomstick6394 actually they share the same bullet diameter but the 30-06 is a long action gun plus it holds much more powder than the 308
@@VaughnHolderman that’s always a good idea. For me most of my shots are 150 yards and closer but I did take a poke at a doe and that was around 200 yards and she was running. I hit her on my second shot on 3x power for my scope and I dropped her. Another guy claimed it because he claimed he spine shot her but the only hole was mine abs that was right behind the shoulder. I got two doe tags and a buck tag for late season so hopefully I get one with my flintlock
