'Wake up, you overslept.' Etho: 'Sorry mom...'
No way u watched the vid too?
+Kevin Lle
He just showed that he appreciated Etho's joke by repeating it. no need to be passive aggressive about it...
Etho has a mom confirmed?
one step closer to a face reveal ^^^
+Seth You read his comment too?
Hey Etho, here are some tips for ya: (Bump it up so Etho sees this, pleaase:3, leave some more suggestions in comments if Etho sees this!)
There are some stuff in the ship chest to grab (Flashlight, food);
You can use (i.e eat food) stuff when you click it in your inventory and click somewhere else out of your inventory, so you don't have to put it in the hotbar;
You don't need pixels to craft stuff, It shows their cost for how much they can be sold or atleast worth;
The lock in the right of hotbar can be toggled to stop things automatically going into your hotbar. If you press 'X' you can switch between your primary and secondary hotbar;
The 4 slots in the middle of your hotbar are essential tools, you can't switch them, move them, etc. You put stuff like pickaxes, other tools in your hotbar. The MM will get upgraded eventually and you won't really need pickaxes.
You should pick up all the furniture, storage stuff, you will really need it, I think;D
The core fragments also can be found really deep in the ground, nearly lava level.
Aand if you sleep in the tents, beds you get health regen.:P
Btw., your pet likes food:D
That's all for now, good luck, looking forward to these series! :D

Awesome start to the series!
There are a few tips I wish I would have known when playing through Starbound.
1. Only certain ores can be found on each planet. If you want to get Tungsten, Titanium or other ores you will have to go to other planets (you can travel within the solar system without using fuel, but going to other systems requires Erchius Crystals/Crystal Erchius Fuel).
2. Fuel for your ship can be bought at the Outpost vendor for 1 pixel for 1 fuel or you can gather fuel from the moons of planets in crystal or liquid form (gather liquid with matter manipulator upgrade).
3. You can craft the Breathing EEP (and upgrades for it) in the Anvil.
4. The rocket jump tech upgrade isn't like the one in Terraria (it holds you in place and you boost in the direction you are holding.
5. There is GRAPPLING HOOK you can make in the Agricultural Table (requires Durasteel, Diamond, Rope, Copper Wire, and AA Batteries).
6. You can also craft wearable light sources in the Agricultural Table.
7. You can purchase a Hoverbike for 11000 pixels at the outpost (a green one costs 15000 pixels).
8. A fridge can keep food fresh for longer (find one or craft one!).
9. You can increase the size of your ship by talking to the illegal vendor at the outpost.
10. You can teleport back to a planet from anywhere by placing a Novakid Flag (crafted in your Basic Crafting window (pressing the c key) for 1 Copper Bar and 20 Woven Fabric) so you can select a teleporter and go straight back to where you placed the flag.
11. You can craft an efficient wall mountable Storage Locker in an Industrial Workbench for 1 Durasteel Bar and 1 Silver Bar. It has 48 slots.
1 step closer to ethos identity. We now know he's an interstellar gas bag person.
I haven't been able to stop playing this since 1.0 came out! I've yet to try the race you went with though
Why are you here? xD
CHIPPY!
What are you doing here? XD
+beto encinas I didn't know big you tubers can't watch other big you tubers...?
hey are you a fan of Etho too? xD just say yess!! XD
Awesome! I'm glad you decided to go through with the Starbound series. This will be pretty great. :-)
Ayyyy its the dont starve guy
I look at the notification area I see this and hype hype hype and that you Etho and could you make this a a thing
You can click outside your inventory to eat rather than placing it in your hotbar. The little lock in the far right of the toolbar will stop things automatically going into your hotbar. I think the hotkey is 'x' to switch between your primary and secondary hotbar. The pixels in your crafting window, I think relates to the items selling price / pixel printer price. You only need the items in the recipe when you hover over it.
There's a mod on the steam workshop to stop you dropping items on death in normal mode, it can get very annoying later in the game.
hey Etho! I love Starbound and I'm super excited for the series! I've been playing the release of Starbound a lot lately and have a few tips! first, it doesn't cost pixels to craft early game items, the number is in the creating window is their value, or how much they'd cost if you were buying them instead of crafting them. eating stuff by putting items in your hotbar one at a time is tedious, you can just pick them up in your inventory and click off with them, as if you were trying to throw an item away in Minecraft. I'd suggest making a small cotton farm, I didn't my first time and was annoyed when I needed cotton to make new tier armor. Check your ship locker for goodies! lastly, my (melee) weapon of choice is the spear, preferable one with a spin attack. some swords can only attack horizontally, making flying foes tough to hit, but it's better you use a weapon you're comfortable with than one some random guy on the internet likes :P best of luck! looking forward for the series!
PS: Avians are the best
+Liam Miller Novakids are superior on an advanced level because they can create fire arms. But yes Avians have pretty good bonuses late game
+Thy _ (Thy) Novakids are my second favorite, but I just think Avians are freaking cool
Inventory tips: press X to change between your two hotbars. Currently, Etho is only seeing one of them. This can make it a lot easier to change between melee weapons, ranged weapons, and healing items while fighting monsters. If you have a one-handed weapon, put a healing item and that weapon into the same hotbar slot, so you can fight and heal at the same time. While in your inventory, right-click items in your hotbar to unequip them. Click the lock button next to your hotbar to keep items that you pick up from automatically going into your hotbar. This can help keep it a lot less cluttered. And when you're crafting items, in addition to clicking the right arrow to make more of an item, you can click the left arrow (when the counter is at '1') to make as many of that item as you possibly can with the amount of materials that you have.
So many words 😱
I love Ethos personality! I went and watched his first Minecraft Lets Play Episode and he is so much different. I'm glad to have been part of your journey!
Things don't cause pixels to make, that's what they sell for, I believe.
the objects will sell for about 1/5th the listed price
That makes sense. I knew Etho couldn't have had that much money already.
yeah, I hate it when things cause other things
+AfonsodelCB lol I see what you did there
No that's how much they're worth. They'll sell for a fraction of their worth.
Press X to access your second hotbar.
You only need pixels to craft things at the 3D printer.
Press E to interact with anything that can become highlighted. Hold left alt to see everything that can be interacted with.
Never get rid of your broken broadsword. You can fix it later.
You missed a free cape in the tutorial.
You missed the locker on your ship. You somehow opened it and still missed it.
You need to break a plant to get seeds from it.
Cooked food fills your hunger bar more than raw food.
You can't put a pick in your matter manipulator slot. Nothing but the MM can go in the MM slot.
Etho: "The Novakids are a mysterious race of interstellar gas-bag people." That sounds like me!
'This chest has bones around it!'
Etho, did you realise you were robbing a grave?
Watching you play this is insanely refreshing. Absolutely adore seeing you have so much fun exploring stuff. That's the very best thing in any let's play. Game on!
*1080p 60FPS !!!! Nice! :D*
it's awesome, right? I just hope he starts doing that with minecraft :P
yep :D
I can't watch the video without stuttering though. It's not that good for slower computers. :/
yeah i know, i had that problem before, but you can go for 720p or 480p :)
OMG YES, FINALLY! WUUUUHUUU
I really hope you do more videos on this. I have had starbound for a very very long time. Since it was available to buy on steam, never got around to play it since i didnt know what to do.. Now i definitely will start playing it!
I bought Terriaria on my Xbox and I had no idea what to do. I learnt a lot from Etho and Zisteau's first Let's Play, but I'm stuck now. It's too complicated now :(
So, I watch Etho play it if he does :)
+ɐᴉdoʇoʞsooʞ the Xbox terraria just finished all of the 1.2.4 features it has not hit 1.3
No one has 1.3 on any console
+Chazmo 53 That's why PC is so much better
+NostalgiaFactor they are still updating the console we just got the last few features of 1.2.4 next is the development of 1.3 console updates
to clear up some things
- check your ship locker.
- cook food
- it doesnt cost pixels to craft. that is just the base price for selling and buying that item.
- you chose survival mode, which makes you drop items and require you to eat food.
other gamemodes are casual (no item drop and no food) and hardcore. (perma death)
- you are doing great.
So excited for this new series. I've been enjoying the 1.0 release so much and I'm really looking forward to see how Etho likes it!
okay Etho, some general tips. 1) there are some supplies in a chest on the ship 2) you can use the beam up button to go down to the planet, the same way you do to go to your ship ( so that you don't have to go to the telepoter pad every time. 3) you don't have to have the food on your hotbar to eat it, you can just click on the side of your screen to eat it. 4) you can make bandages out of the plant fiber that you find in the caves 5) you can make a hunting bow to kill the monsters for food ( they will drop meat ) 6) you don't need pixels to craft thing, I believe there is a item later in the game that lets you print other items using the pixels, and the pixel count on the side is the amount needed to craft that item. I hope this helps you in your adventure :D btw, love the series!
Etho there is a chest thing in your ship with supplies
You clicked into it two times but didn't realize it
It has a flashlight and four canned food
You can edit comments...
+greenmumm how
Are you on mobile? You can't edit if you're in mobile. If your on PC you hit the three squares stacked onto of each other to the right.
the tent you went in heals you, you might wanna pick it up so you can heal without healing items :P
Does the sleeping sack do so too?
Yes it does.
MemyselFishness Then he doesn't really need the tent.
+Echo TheEcho tents are cooler
Any kind of sleep
I am teleporter, I beam up and I beam down
Brilliant :D
beam me up scotty!
***** that's what she said
EHHHH!
+Yuanyuan Qu I mean this in the nicest way possible, but grow up.
Keep the series going! The game seems really polished and I think it deserves a lot more attention. It's incredibly fun to watch!
Etho, you don't use pixels in crafting items, the pixel number basically tells you it's rarity/sell-value.
Another thing is if you find matter manipulator modules, store them in the ship locker (where there is 4 cans of food and your flashlight) so if you die you don't lose them before you can use them.
Also if you press x toy can switch between toolbars at the top. Love this game! Looking forward to seeing you play more!
Welcome Back To
Starbound 1.0
It's EZed
Woo Hoo!
Confetti!
+VintageMinicio omg great name 10/10 👌
Omg... AMAZING NAME
Without the Z though. Zisteau isn't in this unfortunately. I really wish he was.
+Growl wn So... Starbound 1.0 is E?
the pixels in the crafting menus just mean how much the item is worth, you don't need them to craft things.
You should have taken that tent with you. Sleeping heals you for free.
the sleeping bag works just the same.
He got a sleeping bag :)
i know that
***** The tent looks cooler
+Noah Purzycki Did they mention your name? No. They weren't talking to you.
Etho plays every game so uniquely.(I like it)
I'm glad he had cuts throughout the video. Those were nice. Excited for the series!
Lol! the spaceship is a train engine!
*locomotive ;)
*train, actually, but that becomes more obvious later.
+Dark Thoughts lol
When it says a pixel count for something like Torches ×20 pixels, that's not how many pixels it costs to craft, it's how many pixels it would take to buy it
Something I haven't seen anyone say: FOOD WILL SPOIL. And the timing makes sense too. Grains barely spoil (if ever) but when cooked they will. Canned food spoils (much) slower, and you can make refrigerators to make food keep even longer. Finally, you make a hoe in the foraging table, as your S.A.I.L said. Not in an anvil ;) I know it makes sense to make it in an anvil, but it's in the foraging table.
Thumbs this up
Great start! Never watched a starbound video before, but I instantly love it.
*As a help with controls:* You don't have to equip things to eat them/interact with them. Your inventory can be open (and the window can be moved) while you're still doing stuff. So if you're building something or want to eat some food, you don't need to take up a bar with it. When you are clicking on something in your inventory your character is already holding it. Works with everything. Also, if you want to beam up/down quickly, there's a little icon for it on the righthand side of the screen.
Wonder if this will last longer than pixel piracy
I miss that series...
That's what I said!
i hope it doesnt
hopefully this channel becomes exclusively mc or on the days when etho makes these videos there's also a video for mc cuz it kinda sucks to come here, find a video, and then find out it's a new series that ur not interested in
It's a very short game.
Hey Etho, do you think you could enable viewer-made subtitles? I personally enjoy reading subtitles as I watch a video (dunno why) and auto generated captions are, as we all know, pretty bad. Viewer contributed subtitles are accurate and free, and I think they would add more value and flexibility to your content. Thanks for reading.
Wait etho uploaded in 60fps. He must have gotten kidnapped and forced to make videos!!!
etho is marina joyce confirmed
+FuzzyWuzzySenpai etho did 9/11
etho is marina joyce confirmed
Really?
***** original comment m8
Awesome series. I really like it when a RUclips adds a little variety to there content, but not to much. All in all, the game looks really cool and I would love to see more of it.
I'm really happy to see this series resume. Please keep up the great videos!
Etho there were 6 different races, they added the novakids now but glitch were already in the game, also you dont need to pay to get the food, that is how much it would cost if you bought it, and if you sell it you get like 1/5 of that number
Not when he last played it, though, is what he meant
no they were in the game since launch
+BayGull Oh, okay. I wouldn't know, it was just a guess 😂
Oh man D: i was really hoping for Starbound is EZ D:
Etho, your flashlight and some starter food are in your ship's locker. That's why you're having food issues and can't find your flashlight.
You're dropping items because you're on survival mode instead of casual. The names are deceiving, because survival mode is more like expert mode. If you try to zerg rush an area, you'll literally loose everything. I'd suggest actually re-making you're character on casual mode, otherwise this might end up being a pretty short series.
"I'd suggest actually re-making you're character on casual mode" casual mode is also without food IIRC, so the proper solution is to apply a mod that disabled loot drops on survival.
Philip De Bruyne Not sure if disabling loot drops on survival is a mod yet, but hunger on casual already is. Same result either way, but yeah.
It is a mod, there are also some subtle differences between the two game modes: In casual you lose 10% of pixels, whereas you lose 30% on survivial, and in casual you can beam up to ship from anywhere, whereas in survival you can only do so underground.
Trevor Galivan There's that. Though I think you got something backwards. In survival, you *can't* beam up from underground. :P
One of my favorite aspects of Starbound is that the starter game on your planet is essentially a whole game in of itself. You could package that up and sell it as a complete game and you'd be good, but then there's a whole universe of stuff to do once you get off the ground. I was on my homeworld for a long time before I left..Starter game is no joke anymore. It is actually quite a challenge to get going.
So far I'm halfway through the video. I have never heard of Starbound but since I saw Etho plays it I wanted to check it out. So far I'm loving the vid Etho and I hope you continue with the Starbound series! :D
Also it seems sort of like an adventure themed terraria. Pretty cool
Heyyyy it's in 1080p :D
Ikr
Yea!
It doesn't take money to make stuff, That's how much it sells for
21st viewer? I've never been this early for an etho vid!
I'm 841th :P Still my earliest time getting to a Etho Episode before!
im 3,095
im 5,117
So when are these comments going to stop?
Now would be nice. Please.
Stop with these comments.
*Starbound Lucario Mod Modder* inside your ship there, on the wall, you opened your locker several times but didn't look what was in it. Inside your locker was canned food and a flashlight. The game provides food at the beginning so you don't immediately die. Also a current update (not sure if you are playing 1.0.3 or not yet but they included a healing item in that crate on the ground beside your ship when you was escaping earth. Also there were 2 easter egg items hidden in the beginning mission. you got the flower in the hair which is 1 but when the disaster happened you could also find a torn banner which it's teared off piece is turned into a cape that you can wear. Those petals you found on the planet can be used to create dyes at the spinning wheel which you can use to change the color of your outfit. I hope this helps!
so glad you started this. I'm enjoying 1.0 a lot with my friends.
You can use items straight out of your inventory by clicking out of the window. That's a faster way to eat food. Also you can press x for a second not hotbar; I like using one for combat and the other for blocks and tools.
*excited shrieking*
A few tips though:
- You can use things out of your inventory like you can in Terraria just by selecting it and clicking outside of your inventory.
- You don't pay pixels to make things. The pixel amount on the crafting menu is how much that particular item is worth in pixels.
- Salves are weaker alternatives to bandages. I suggest saving bandages for emergencies, since they are harder to get now.
- When you activate the teleporter with the core fragments, I suggest looking around for a kitchen table in there. It will allow you to make more complicated, longer lasting, and more filling foods.
- If you press the X key you can bring up a second page of your hotbar. I usually put my building equipment on one page and exploration equipment on the other.
You should finish the whole game. Unless it's like Teraria and it never ends.
I played it over the few past days after 1.0 was released and basically after you finish Esther's quests and defeat the final boss the game ends, or at least there isn't anything else in the main story line
Terraria doesn't necessarily end, but it gets excruciatingly boring, after youve gotten all the best gear and beat the bosses, there's nothing to do....
+Dane Shawlson the Mezican lol, how did you do that, I already gained full armor and weapons from solarium stuff but can't finish the scan thing, it's very annoying :D
It has a story which when you finish you can consider that you finish the game but you can play a little bit after doing other things
+Tim T. unless it gets updated or you start a challenge playthrough
Had no idea Star bound was this developed. Gonna bug my girl to see if we can play this together :D
How's the coop btw?
Oh and I'm glad you decided to do this series Ergo :)
Etho* stupid spell checker :p
The Coop is good now that you can join your friends games via steam friends list
Multiplayer is pretty fun imho. I spend most of my time on servers, both survival and role play.
I can't begin to explain how ecstatic I am to see this series pop up on your channel, Etho!
I love this! please make this a series. I could watch you play anything!
Hey etho :) you dont actually buy food, buy things, thats how much you can sell them for, not buy them >_>
I'm refering to the pixel icons that you see when you are in the crafting window.
I think you get the pixels. not pay them
***** ah. so now etho and I learnd something :P
no its how much the items are worth
you pay in materials and in pixels
***** it does, i have
yeah played it immediately after 1.0 was released, thought 1.0 was coming out at 7:00 AM but they fucked up the time and it came out later lol I got so scared
Ethooo
Wooo, 1080p 60fps Etho goodness! Am I ever excited for this series!
YES FINALLY!!! I have been waiting for you to play this game for months! Cannot wait!!! Super excited!
Cube world...
feelsadman
I am struggling to read the text on my laptop screen I feel sorry for the people watching on mobile
ok cool
+misterOsc can read it fine on iPhone 6
The Guy Who Roasts Everyone Smaller screen means smaller font
Yeah, it's hard to read on iPad.
I can easily read them on my OnePlus One :)
Etho Tips: click the food out of the screen to eat it, no need to put it on your hotbar! Food can spoil, it will last longer if you cook it. On the top right of your screen has several options, including the Matter Manipulator upgrader! Hold down shift while mining or placing blocks to change from 4 blocks to 1 block.
Press N to activate your scanning tool, this is also has a flashlight.
Etho I have a nice tip for you because if you want to record underground or during nighttime then it would be a nice for the viewers and really convenient for yourself. As soon as you can, try to get to a desert planet because they contain oil which later with a upgraded matter manipulator, you can collect. You can craft a few things with oil but the most useful thing is a lantern on a stick. This item emits an aura of light around your player not unlike the glowing effect but it is weaker than that. Basically its like wearing a torch in your back slot. This can be improved later with upgrade modules which you can get from mob drops or crafting to become a stronger light source but that's for mid to late game. Even my super late game characters use the item but the upgraded form.
Make sure to always cook your food in a campfire, it gives you more bars. Also, N is the flashlight that's built into the matter manipulator. Those pixels in the crafting menu is how much those items sell for, they don't take them to craft. Oh and the top right bar has menus, you can upgrade your matter manipulator, but pickaxes are really fast to start out with too
Some cool tips!1) If you hit X, you actually have two hotbars! I use one for weapons and one for tools2) Crafting doesn't cost pixels, that's how much you sell them for3) You tend to move around a LOT in starbound, scanning and exploring new things and worlds, it's better to build a farm at a PERMANENT base or your ship even (you will upgrade its size later)
its doesnt cost pixels to make stuff, what you see is what the item is worth, so when you sell it merchants in the future you know the general cost (they dont give you full price). also using items is like terraria so you dont have to put food in you hotbar to eat them you can just take them out of your inventory and click anywhere to eat it. Im glad you are bringing starbound back i missed these, keep up the good work!
So far, the full version is great! I'm enjoying it so far, hope you have a good time Etho! :D
WOOOOO 1080p60! Unparalleled Etho quality! I will love this series; keep it up Etho!
YES PLEASE MAKE THIS A SERIES I MISS IT!!!! Also have been playing the game alot and have been enjoying it.
Yay its back, Starbound is finally back. I loved the first series and I'm really glad its back.
I'm super excited for this series! Great episode Etho!
4:49 "You never know what you're going to get." So glad my man Etho decided to play Starbound again :D
You asked for tips: Two hot bars that are swap-able with the tick mark to the left of the hotbar.
Looking forward to this!
Great show!
Thanks!
The locker on the ship has food and a flashlight, and always cook your food. Also, explore any dungeon you see, and save your tungsten, sand (smelt into glass), and 1 livingroot (rare drop from certain monsters) to make a breathing EEP so you can breath under water and on moons (which is very important for some of the quests later on into the game.)
This game looks so awesome! I'm very excited for this series :) keep up the good work etho!
Great beginning to a new series Etho! Thank you for the new content
For a long time I haven't watched anything made by this channel, now I think I am going to follow these series for some time as it keeps me entertained.
P.S. I don't remember you cutting the videos, but please continue. I'd rather watch 20 min quality content, where you talk about something and you do important stuff, than watch 30-40 min uncut, where I would most likely get bored after 5 mins of aimlessly walking and silence.I know editing probably takes a lot of your time, but the result is great! Good job Etho, keep it up!
I'm so excited to see you play Starbound again. I love this game!
This will be an awesome series. Thanks for doing it Etho.
YOU MAKE ME SO HAPPY. I've been playing this hardcore since the release, rip sleep
finaly! series on another game! i missed the days with pirate piracy, terraria, cuba world and all other games so much!
Wow I'm really happy etho published this video in 1080p 60fps it is astounding at the big difference
I was just thinking of how I missed the old series. Thank you for the new one!\
This series looks amazing, I can't wait for the next
Really enjoying this series, can't wait for the next episode!
Woohoo, as Starbound being one of my favorite games now I'm super excited by to watch Etho play this game!!!!
YES! I've been waiting for a new Starbound series for a looong time now! *-*
Food in your ship's storage, stuff does not cost pixels to make, it's simply the value of each item, however, the value on the item does not equal the same amount you can sell the item for, a lot of ores can be found on surface chests, you'll eventually be able to upgrade the speed and mining area and reach of your matter manipulator with the manipulator modules, the icons on the right are useful, the most useful is the beam to ship/planet for easy teleport, the teleporter in the ship is to choose the location to teleport to. Some tips I'm able to think of for now.
Enjoying Starbound too, I see! An useful tip: After you make your loom and your wooden crafting table, you can make flags! These function as waypoints for you to teleport to, and are a much cheaper alternative to buying teleporters from the Two-Stop Teleshop! Great if you want to dedicate a less dangerous planet to farming while exploring the galaxies
Looks like a cool game and the start of an awesome series! Keep up the videos Etho! :)
You can use an item straight from your inventory by selecting it and left/right clicking in the world. This includes eating food and placing blocks. Move the inventory window if it gets in the way of block placing by dragging it by it's title bar.
Thanks for the videos Etho, I always enjoy them!
Etho's voice mixed with the background music is just so soothing lol
Please make more of these, this game looks sweet and it's very entertaining
'It wants me to kill trees! I don't know about this' says the famous minecraft youtuber :D
I missed your mini series etho, love the episode please do more. :)
I loved your Terraria series and I can't wait to see what you are going to get into this series. Keep up the good work Etho.
Amazing Etho! I hope you will keep the series for a long time :D
Please make more!!!!! This is such an interesting game to watch and looks really fun to play. Keep it up!!
