No, actually they looked about the same. With Rantanan they had weak offensive games like this regularly. Necas actually played very well. He controlled the puck much better than Rantanan usually did. They still need to figure out how to use him properly.

It's amazing how games work out sometimes, Colorado completely dominated 2 periods, but lost the game in one period. If the Avalanche had scored 3 goals in the first periods, then most likely the score of the match would have been 5:1 in favor of Colorado. But the whole game in the third period turned in favor of the Bruins
I listened to Judd on the radio right after the last Bruins’ radio broadcaster left to take a job with Vegas. At first, honestly, Judd was pretty bad. However, he did improve steadily over the following seasons. As great as Jack Edwards was pre-COVID, he was honestly terrible in every way except nostalgia, post-pandemic. I am glad Jack has moved on, and I think Judd is solid, if unspectacular.
I feel like if the Avs had a big, elite playmaking scorer who scores almost 50 goals and over 100 points each season, they would've easily won this game. It's a shame players like that only come around once in a blue moon and teams have to be really lucky to have them.

Necas is a good player and has been improving, being paired with Mackinnon should make him better, all things considered the Avs probably got the best they could have for him, the closer we get to the deadline the more and more power the Avs lose to move him for quality deals. its either this or lose Makar potentially in the future keeping Makar takes priority. I think this trade will be a win-win or maybe even a loss for the Canes who take on more risk if Rantannen decides not to re-sign after the season.

I have to remember to only watch the Avs every other game because they're in a consistent pattern of playing up to their potential in one game and then dogging it in the next one. They put up a solid effort against Winnipeg and would have won if not for an unlucky deflection (and then MacKinnon going to sleep in OT). And as usual they follow that up by just going through the motions in this next one. Right now any team can beat the Avs by packing the front of the goal, letting the Avs skate around to their heart's delight, wait for them to pass up decent shots to try their fancy passes that fail to connect most of the time, then wait for them to get so bored with their unproductive skating around dominance that they screw up on defence. Please tell me this is a strategy to lull the better teams into underestimating them so come playoff time they can surprise them by finally playing consistently great.
