AR Rahman's Genda Phool is not picked from Bengoli folk song but actually picked from Chhattisgarhi folk song. In song she says "Poore Raipur se alag hai saiyyan ji ki shaan" Raipur is the capital city of Chhattisgarh where I'm from. Thanks ✌🏼

Just to let you know the background of this song.
This is a song sung by a married woman who lives with her in laws. She complains about every one and yet finds them lovable.
The Genda pool means a marigold flower. It is chosen in the song because marigold has apparently many petals but in reality each petal is a flower by itself. So her Sasural ( in laws place) is a bunch of different individual flowers collectively forming a single entity which beautiful and she is proud of it.

I really like the second song you heard, it's very underrated in that it's not like other typical bollywood hip Hop songs that try way too hard to be relatable and catchy. Genda phool is subtle with meaningful lyrics. Badshah is crap, a lot of people will disagree, but they don't know what they're missing.

Flute interludes represent pigeon calls and their sounds, intrinsic to that region of India. Sheer unparalleled genius.
It’s a small example the way he’s changed the perception and outlook to Indian music and music as a whole…
Check out other songs in the same album-Delhi 6, each a gem and treat in its own right. You won’t ever find a similar’ Rahman track. Only similarity is that they are different!!

Indi this is mis-comparison "Genda Phool" is basically marigold flower a common flower in indian rituals particularly marriages. So AR Rehman song is actually a rendition of Chattisgarhi folk music common to marriage ritual in that part of world , I don't think we can find who is the original writer of the song as it is just a cultural song. "Genda Phool" which Badshah remade is from Bengal and is relatively modern as it has traceable song writer from Bengal and part of Baol folk music , again very rich music history but different culture .
They are basically 2 different songs with Genda Phool in common.
Nonetheless keep watching ..glad you are putting in effort to know more about Indian culture and folk music

Regarding folk ganda phool and Badshah's ganda phool, according to my opinion, creativity is the main thing what should matter. Liking it or disliking it is personal matter. I think, if a society, language, culture stop being creative, then that society, language or culture is about to die. Well I may not like Badshah's ganda phool, because of some vulgar wordings or picturisation. But still this Punjabi man should be credited for his experiment to modernization a Bengali folk song. And for A R Rahaman's ganda phool.... The song itself is nice, but it got nothing to do with folk song Ganda Phool.

AR rahman is a Oscar and a Grammy award winner for his music. Which describes the quality. And this isn't a remix of the older version. The badshah one is. This is a completely different track.

Genda phool songs had two folks in Bengali and Chattagarhi.. the original you heard is Bengali and that remake is by Badshah .. The AR Rehman version is inspired by the version know in the state of Chattisgarh .. you may find the original version of the same as well

They are very different, one from east India. Bengali version talks about young girl putting marigold flower in her hair, and Rehmans is from hindi folk song where girl talking about life in Sasural which is inlaws house

Hey Rossi.. it's original(Sasural Gonda Phool) song from Chhattisgarh State of India. which was sung by Habib Tanveer,BhulwaRam Yadav,Brijlaal Lenjhwar in 1972.
Those bengali ladies are gorgeous. Felt like a Satyajit Ray movie. That is a lovely complexion too.
