Um...Amy Winehouse, Sinead O'Connor, Melanie Martinez, Shakira, Marina Diamandis (Marina and the Diamonds)?
+Lexi Hansen Don't forget NIna Simone!!! (Still listening to How To Be A Heartbreaker) lol
And Sia
yeeeees
***** I don't know much of them
Melanie yes!!
Many other deserving singers. I'll give you just one: Kate Bush.
Her voice sends shivers down my spine!
100%
Yes. Tori Amos, so many more
And don't forget: Annie Lennox, Sinead O'Connor, Grace Jones.
@@lukechillin6226 Karen Carpenter
I seriously can not believe Ozzy Ozbourne is not on this list! And not even an honorable mention? He AT LEAST deserved that!! Even after 50 years, you can't tell me that if you were to hear a song play, as soon as you heard him sing that first word, you wouldn't know it was the Godfather of heavy metal.
EQKaiena Thank you..! I've been loving his remarkable voice since I was a child. My parents were 18 and 19,when married and had me,and my dad listened to EVERYTHING from Maggie Bell and Pink Floyd,to Black Sabbath's "Changes",where OZZY's awesome and special voice became my childhood favounrite. 😀😎👧🏻He got Even better as a solo artist. As a young teen in the 80's,I used my paycheck on OZZY's records, and one of my 1st CD's was "The Ultimate Sin",and "Killer of Giants",plus "Shot in The Dark".. I've been to 4 OZZY Concerts,2 of them here in little Norway, where he is truly appreciated. All lighter's were lit, from he entered the stage,in Bergen, beside our Mideval Hall and dungeon prisoner cells.THAT was a perfect place for him to sing. The last concert I went to,was in 2012 or -13. OZZY sounds like he did at the age of 30. OZZFEST is our dream, but flyging to the States from here,is wayy to expensive,I'm afraid. Hoping he comes back here.. 🇳🇴👩🏻🎤🎸🎼
EQKaiena besides him even dio, Robert plant, Rob Helford
Why do I feel like Johnny Cash should have AT LEAST gotten an honorable mention, in fact he could have even taken the #1 place in my opinion
I TOTALLY AGREE
100% Agreed
RIP David Bowie
R.I.P.💕
+Kawii Kenna SAMEEE
R.I.P,
Emma Powell
its horrible!
+Kenna@RUclips you know what's horrible? You using a humans death to get subs...
Björk is an entire sub-genre of music
Lmao, you're damn right
@TOM booooooo
I agree with you
Amen
well, all of her songs are different from each other. Most of them, at least. Maybe BJÖRK and GENRE are words that don't match.
Before watching... Is Shakira in the top 5?
She isn't even on the list wtf?
Bro, her voice is incredibly easy to replicate
san delag Tell me one musical artist who sounds like her.
+san delag So replicate it... replicate any voice of good pop stars bitch
Jesus... You fanboys are killing me.
I'm a latino, in here I have like 5 girl friends that can replicate Shakira's voice easily... She sounds like a frog. And that's the secret, just pretend you have boogers in your throat.
+Sebastian Reed Andrews Every musical artist singing in Spanish.
First person who came to my mind was Geddy Lee from RUSH👍
Damn straight. Couldn't believe he didn't even make the honorable mentions. Finding my way, Bastille Day, all of 2112, Spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer. List goes on and on. Nobody sounds like that. Polarizing and massively underrated. Absolutely unique. I'm going to go spin Signals now. Decent list but lacking one.
Don't like his voice much - but there are absolutely no imitators.
Yup. Geddy's voice is unique - and polarizing. I'm a fan along with just being a Rush fan in general.
And in live performances, he was singing while playing complex bass guitar lines and sometimes working foot pedals. Geddy Lee is probably the ultimate multi-tasker in rock!
Your favorite band's favorite band, few can hold a candle to Geddy's iconic voice. He should be on this list and you should be ashamed. ;-)
Hold the red star proudly, high in hand brothers!
Am I the only one who thinks Edith Piaf should be on here?
That's going back a ways, but you're right--she had a unique, hauntingly beautiful voice.
Manda Brown and Nina Simone
Ella Fitzgerald?
Protoka good call!
and Janis Joplin maybe? lots of girls were left out
I love that queen or queen members are always on these lists
Zeno Bonk same. freddie is love.
who?
Subject Anarchist Omg you can't be serious...
Buttergras ikr how does he not know who they r
Zeno Bonk yes i Love Queen
the maker of this list needs to understand the difference between a unique voice and a distinct vocal style.
Charles Bernard i agree man
Exactly the same thing crossed my mind. Most these people are not unique in terms of voice but style...
name any hit band / group /singer and any fan of music will tell you it's sound is unique. if your voice isnt recognizable it doesnt mean you're just a cog in the system, it means you wont be remembered.
counterpoint, doesn't this list hinge entirely on personal opinion? lol
I haven’t gotten thru much of the list yet, but this is true for some so far. Cocker and Charles had a distinct style, where as Bowie varied his over decades but was uniquely identifiable.
i was waiting for shakira
Tracy Chapman, Björk And Dolores O'Riordan are my favorite unique voices 🖤
This comment. Tracy Chapman and Dolores O'Riordan are top of my list.
Also lead singer from 4 non blondes is close to your list.. sorry can't think of her name
@@asiadenney7030 Yes, I agree!!! Her name is Linda Perry.
They did not just call Ray Charles, who is blind, a visionary man.
irony lulz
What you seeeeee is like 36% of are visuals derp
There is more to him than meets the eye.
Metaphorically YES!
omg😂😂😂😂😂
They literally didn't talk about any of Björk's experimental material, or that she had new instruments invented for her album Biophilia. Literally, "you've got to have an ACQUIRED taste" and "oh she was in Dancer in the Dark." Wtf? She's done so much more.
ryan w. Thats just like how on their top 10 male vocalists they put stevie wonder on there without mentioning he can play piano and stuff while being blind
This List is not Deep enough, It's just his Opinion and sure It's Focused on the US, Glad at least he put her name in this list.
They shouldve used All is Full of Love for this as well
you should literally not look towards WatchMojo to literally find depth on one subject. It's LITERALLY just a stream of top tens.
Every voice that you can recognize with closed eyes is unique
Sora Rei yes!!
No
Agreed. But my voice would make you wish you were deaf, eyes closed or not.
oh god, that's a lot
I agree.
One of the most soothing voices I've heard is Sade
Um... Where's Kate Bush?!?!
+Felicia Ariza I second that!
how did tiny Tim not make this list? dudes voice is what nightmares are made of
I agree that Tiny Tim’s singing voice was one of a kind, but his knowledge of obscure early 20th century music was incredible.
This list blows where the fuck is Serj Tankien, or the guy from Disturbed.
+Zack Young IKR, and, it's Tankian btw lol
Ya David Draiman should totally be in there!
Shannon Glover ah shit i was never sure of his name lol, thanks dude.
pretty much what I was thinking with Serj . That vocal range he has is so impressive
I was thinking the same thing dude
Ray Charles has a magnificent voice. Never get tired of listening to him.
Some not mentioned, maybe not the best but unique. Roy Orbison, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, Howlin Wolf, James Brown, Van Morrison, Billie Holiday, Thom Yorke, Geddy lee
where is Leon Redbone, Vitas, and Johnny Cash
Steven Murphy lol I know that vitas dude.... he's incredible. That high note tho. He's Russian, that's why he's scarcely known ;(
I saw Leon Redbone at the Birchmere in Virginia about 20 years ago..OMG he was amazing. And came out in a white suit, opened up his guitar case, pulled out a polaroid camera, and took a pic of the audience..hysterical..
Entertainment World oooooo I forgot about Geddy!
Dave Matthews, Rod Stewart, James Hetfield, Cyndi Lauper...
K but where da fuck is Serj Tenkian from System of a Down?
And the yelling guy in the B52s
And everyone else in the comments, yeah it's time for Another Top 10 of this ;)
Him, Ozzy and Louie Armstrong all deserved spots. Wether or not they're good singers wouldn't even matter, they're crazy unique.
Serj Tankian,Liam Gallagher,Rivers Cuomo,Billie Joe Armstrong and Kurt Cobain. Possibly Gerard Way.
Exactly what I was thinking
Yes... Serj should be on the list! Mike Patton (FNM) too.
Not having Janis Joplin on this list is criminal
Kids, who I am guess this is for, have no clue who Janis is!
Del S. Which is terrible...
True. Nobody has been able to come even close to imitating her voice. They have to use computers to recreate her singing voice. Also I expected Kate Bush to be here.
@@DS-nq1dg I am 13 but I know the legend of psychedelic rock...Janis Joplin..R.I.P Janis Joplin 😭...It is terrible that so many people don't know about her...
I totally agree... I was sure she would be number one
Bjork has always been my number one of truly unique voices
How is it Cyndi Lauper didn't make this list?!?!
they only have 10 spots a lot of people could have been on the list, she probably would if it was 20
Or Johney Mathis -very unusual voice
The incomparable Stevie Nicks should be on this list too.
Unique voice on Music Stevie Nicks..Yess
Axel Rose should have made this list.
Anyone can scream... yet Smashing Pumpkins is there... Smdh
Baaaaaaaah! Baaaaaaaah!!!
Barry Mays Billie Corgan doesn't scream, I'm confused
were is brendon urie, i was so disappointed that he wasn't in here not even in honorable mentions
Omg ikr I mean seriously😂
I know, I was thinking the exact same thing
fUcKiNg SaMe
Ikr
Same, tbh
I was waiting for Karen Carpenter who has one of the most distinctive and amazing voices.
YES!!
wtb johnny cash his voice is like liquid gold
Ninjarj 117 same with Roy Orbison
@@sarahkinsey5434 Exactly! He doesn't get enough credit for all the amazing songs he wrote!
I love Johnny cash Hurt is my favorite song.
Axl Rose and Twenty One Pilots could have at least been mentioned
How does the Twenty One Pilots guy have a unique voice? sounds pretty regular to me o.O
+Convictive No.
+Riot_94 joseph tyler does have a pretty unique way of singing and his approach on lyrics i would say.
+Riot_94 Tyler Joseph has a pretty cool voice in my opinion; sometimes he raps, sometimes he sings, sometimes he screams but it always sounds good
+Jenna very Joseph Tyler
No mention of Kate Bush at all?!
Timur TK Yeah, but they preferred to mention Joanna Newsom, who clearly copies her.
Surprised as well.
I actually clicked on this video expecting Bush to be first. In my opinion I don't think there has been a better female artist than Kate Bush... but that's my opinion.
Kate Bush, Grace Jones, Annie Lennox.
@Inti Robinson That´s what I thought!
Freddie was one of a kind and the best we'll ever see.
You left out Kate Bush! That's a beautiful, unique voice!
I so agree!
Kate Bush!
Kate!
Yeah, Kate should have been on this list for sure!!
The man with the child in his eyes is genius
Layne Staley
i was thinking the same thing along with the chick from 'firehorse'.
No shit. I expected him to be number 1 considering Corgan was on this list. Morrisey also missing from this list.
As based on their previous lists, they don't love Smiths i guess!!
where the shit is Maynard J. Keenan? seriously?
Right!
FUCK YES
To good for this list.
I know
***** nah, the song Maynard did with Bowie was beautiful. Bowie is on the same level, if not higher than Maynard talent-wise.
Brian Molko frontman for Placebo definitely deserves a place on this list. You've chosen famous, easily recognized singers. Huge difference between distinct, famous voice and unique voices.
I agree with Björk.
In saying that, all voices are unique.
I can't fucking believe you really compared MJ to Justin Timberlake.
Both were named king of pop and this isn't the first time they compared them
+Banderas Rojas And the first actually is o.o
+KremIsis personally i like jt better than mj
+KremIsis They are pretty alike
+KremIsis Timberlake pulled a lot of inspiration from Jackson to create the more modern sound he's made for himself after Nsync
NO TINY TIM?!!??!?!?!?
+Dakota Boswell YEAH
+Dakota Boswell he's creepy as fuck!
That's what I'm saying
EXACTLY!! Wtffff
So true. He was that who can go to a really high pitch
Tom Petty, Cyndi Lauper, Jim Morrison, Ozzy Osbourne, Jimmie Hendrix - just to name a few with very Unique voices(had to remove Louie Armstrong cause he was in the Honorable Mentions)
+Ashers Mc It wasn't about powerful, it was about unique. Admittedly not many people did that speaking/singing thing like Jim did, but I still don't see it being "unique".
+Ashers Mc lol I can recognize hundreds of singers by one note, but that doesn't mean they are unique in how they deliver the notes, phrases, etc.
Paul Stanley from Kiss ha(d) a hugely powerful voice but I would NEVER tell you it was unique. Paul Rodgers has an awesome rock voice, but again, I can't call it unique. Someone like Layne Staley, hugely unique. Mike Patton, hugely unique how he delivers his voice.
A WW
WWW
WW
+Ilaadrien Evenstarr Jimi Hendrix wasn't a good singer at all xD
+Ilaadrien Evenstarr Steve Perry, Lou Gramm, Stevie Nicks, Bon Scott, Linda Ronstadt. The list goes on and on
I always loved Björk! Tom Waits makes me think that is what Hellboy would sound like singing.
The Prince of Darkness, John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne. Have never heard another singer who can replicate his voice.
His voice is so underrated, honestly. It has that sinister vibe that just stands out amongst other heavy metal singers. Maybe his range is not exactly like Rob Halford's or Ronnie James Dio's, but still an incredible one-of-a-kind voice.
Listen to Mech- Painkiller.
Best Ozzy look alike voice!
Top 10 is just too short for this kind of list: Thom Yorke, Liam Gallagher, Mick Jagger, Matthew Bellamy, Serj Tankian, Morrissey, Yannis Philippakis, Brandon Flowers, Janis Joplin, and so on.
+zarko stanic Liam Gallagher and the dude from Foals aren't that special I guess, but the rest I would agree about
+zarko stanic I think Sia and Elle King are different, too, but maybe they sound like someone else? They seem very new to me.
Ðavy Liam definitely deserves a spot. I'm not saying because Oasis is my fave band (definitely not...), his voice is very recognizable and nobody sounds like him, not even his brother. Coming to think about Yannis, you're right, he actually sounds like every other indie rock singer.
Cassidy Graybosch I know i've heard Elle's voice somewhere else, not too sure. Sia, yeah.
+zarko stanic I'd also add Chino Moreno
Janis fucking Joplin. Goddamnit.
+teckensprak Absolutely.
ya know alot of artists from the 60s and 70s are a bit overrated because they died young or because they've been so built up in music folklore no one ever challenges their talents level and I'd say janis joplin us possibly the most overrated of all those artists she sounds like a man who can't sing
+teckensprak you should listen to alabama shakes ;)
+righttackle52 or you just don't like them. and You think they are overrated
They need a bigger list. She definitely deserved a place on it.
How could you forget Steve Perry whom nicknamed 'The Voice'
What about Ozzy Osbourne?
I think Watchmojo's got something against metal and hard rock/glam metal.
Anon Ymous yeah. but they have made rock lists
Tabasco Puffen agreed, he at least deserves the number 6 spot if not higher
Tabasco Puffen agreed! You tell tell ozzy's voice from a mile away
Not unique, check out Terra Firma.
Groundman is a great track.
Amy Winehouse?
Elvis Presley?
Brian Johnson?
Lana Del Rey?
Sia?
Aretha Franklin?
Robert Plant?
Alanis Morissette?
Nat King Cole?
Paul Stanley?
Lorde?
Gwen Stefani?
Steve Perry?
Sinéad O'Connor?
Barry White?
Rick Astley?
Kurt Cobain?
Ozzy Osbourne?
Billie Joe Armstrong?
Nina Simone?
Amy Lee?
Steven Tyler?
Halsey?
Marina Diamandis?
FRANK FUCKING SINATRA?!!?
and you might not know this one but she has an incredible voice: Florence Welch
P.S: I know I put to many singers on this list, but still they all have incredible voices :D
Yeahhh Sia!
+Pea Lord
david draiman
serj tankian
lemmy kilmister
yolandi vissir
Michael David Rosenberg
jeff hatrix
JOHNNY FUCKING CASH
+Pea Lord
this list is couldve been a whole lot better
I mean how did they not put Amy Winehouse and Frank Sinatra!!! >:(
yes lana should be there and paloma faith😍😍😍
Where the fuck is elvis presley
In his grave
+Joseph Stalin that was a beautiful reply
+Joseph Stalin as if you are alive, Stalin.
I completely agree with you
Where’s Stevie Nicks!
My wife and I adopted a small terrier who got named Stevie Nicks by a foster Mom. I get to sleep with Stevie Nicks. :)
Jim Morrison? Ozzy? Every one of AC/DC's singers? Hell I'll even throw in Zach de la Rocha...
+TheGeorgev1984 spot on!
Well like it says in the title, it's the top 10, there are so many great and unique voices in the world of music that can't be listed in due to the capacity of the list, and before you say ''Jim Morrison has a lot better voice than Joe Cocker'', remember that this list was made by WatchMojo, there was no worldwide voting for this list.
+Vesa Lahtinen not better but unique wise there could be more unique choices but you're absolutely correct it is just watchmojo
Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, Axl Rose, Whitney Houston and Robert should have been at least in honorable mentions
Robert?
+Anna Emiko My guess would be Robert Smith of The Cure
Robert Plant*
Kurt Cobain was good but not unique.
Well you can get that its him with only 1 word. It is what unique means for me
yeah, yeah everybody is making a list of people who deserves to be in the list.
+Richard LP
I really have to wonder how people can be so stupid.
+Luke DS Nas, Nas, Nas, Ad-Rock and Nas
+Richard LP Yeah, I thought that "So, do you agree with our selections? Who has your favorite unique voice in music?" meant we should do exactly that.
Marin Vladimir
This would make sense if people were mostly saying-
"I find that 'X' artist is more unique because_____", instead of-
"Watchmojo You fucked up again why wasn't 'X' there instead of 'X' they're just 'better'.
People aren't coming up with constructive conversations that allow people to contribute assertively; they're just bitching because they don't know how the voting system works or just want to stir up trouble, or maybe they really are that emotionally unstable.
When channels ask people for feed back in the comments they don't ask for people to practically have a textual temper tantrum.
I don't know how Roy Orbison didn't make this list.
Are you kidding me? Michael should have been #1. But I am glad to see that Bjork was right behind him. RIP MJ & DB.
AND FM.
No one can top Tom Waits in uniqueness
+robynsegg Exactly what i thought, Michael has the most unique voice
+robynsegg It said most UNIQUE, not your favorite.
+robynsegg Armstrong should be first!
tiny tim, Jonathan Davis, Kurt Cobain, Abbath, Maydarn, Frank Sinatra, Nikolas (shining), Nattramn, Kirk windstein, black Francia, etc.
louis armstrong
Voo Doo sorry, a little mistake
definetly jonathan davis!!
Recognizable doesn't necessarily mean unique... so I'm going to have to disagree with a lot of your list.
Also, assuming you mean Maynard... not Maydarn?
And for my money, Darroh Sudderth has one of the most unique voices out there.
As good as Jonathan is, i wouldn't list him since there's quite few who sound like him, Flymore's singer for example
nina hagen! she has the most unique voice
yaasssss..... she has a very unique voice!!!!
+little bukwus LOVE HER even named my daughter Nina.
Im so sad she doesnt have the fame she deserves ;-;
So glad you have Bjork her credit. She has a beautiful voice. It takes you to another word.🥀
Louie Armstrong is for me the most unique voice in music. Along with Brendon Urie, The Bee Gees and Tyler I-/
how is Cyndi Lauper not listed ! her voice is so recognizable... I have never heard anyone come close..
True!
I feel like this list was lacking in female voices just in general. Cyndi Lauper, Macy Gray, Aretha Franklin, Lana Del Rey, Amy Winehouse, Dolores O'Riordan (Cranberries), Ann Wilson (Heart), Carol Burnett?
Um... HELLO Janis Joplin??
There are so many talented singers. Maybe they should have just done one list for men and one for women.
Because they did miss plenty of male singers, too.
+HAMWICH90 couldn't agree more. what about ... Elvis? Yes, that Elvis.
They were listing hard to imitate voices
her song{ who let in the rain} should of been a huuuuuge hit!love that song and her.
Bob Dylan, you either love him or hate him. I think he's amazing.
He's phenomenal! I mean "Desolation Row", have you listened people?
He's not unique
Idk was always annoyed by his nasal voice
I went to a couple of his shows. One of them he must have been feeling very country that night, because he sang all of his well known early songs in a heavily country song manor. Great if you want variety, but I kind of wanted to hear them in a way similar to the original version. Just my opinion.
Ozzy, Johnny Cash
I guess the 80's never happened outside of Michael Jackson.
Dave Gahan - Depeche Mode
Bernard Sumner - New Order
Robert Smith - The Cure
Morrissey - The Smiths
Danny Elfman - Oingo Boingo
Richard Butler - Psychedelic Furs
Axl Rose - Guns N' Roses
And of course I'm naming the more "unique" voices. There are plenty others that are distinct in there own right as well. Simon LeBon, Debby Harry, Bono, Sting, Chrissie Hynde, Ric Ocasek, Roland Orzabal, Andy McClusky, etc.
FavreianVengeance 💜
How noob u are...didn't mention god lemmy
I think rob smith and morrisey should be on the list, like come on
Robert Smith is a huge over sight.
Boi its a top TEN not a top 493
awesome. next time do the TOP 10 MOST UNIQUE VOICES IN ROCK MUSIC
Agreed. Good idea imo to separate by TYPE of music.
Knight Gash hard rock and metal! 🤘🏼
Matt Bellamy from Muse would definitely have to be on that list, he should have been on this one but unfortunately he wasn't.
hell no it would be bon scott and freddie top 2
Knight Gash Geddy lee better be number one
Wow, these singers have such amazing voices, it was so awesome to hear them express their special voices to everyone, thumbs up to all of them
The cranberries?
so much yes to this one.
yuppp
I clicked on this video just for them.. yet no.
agree
There's a lot of men on this list and they're all good choices, but you could've split lists by gender, and covered more people
Really? Dont bring gender into this your offending me.
oh dear god not another femmenist....
+Mr Pathronix Actually I agree. We could a seen more people on this list like that
+Bryce Anderson yea but the list would've been too long. it should be top 10 MOST unique singers.
and honestly Björk is the most unique one I've ever heard
+Mr Pathronix okay. but that's why they do two lists. not all in the same video.
Where is Amy Winehouse? despite your thoughts on her music its tough to deny such a unique voice like hers has yet to be replicated.
Amen!
Brennden Prohaska agree
exactly !!!
Listen to some Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington first...
Eric Derrick yes her too! Ella Fitzgerald. Chris Connor. Anita O'Day. Who compiled this list anyway???
Dolores o'riordan she was amazing a mighty little Powerhouse RIP. I saw her in concert at the Noize Factory in Philly. They are all indeed unique greats. I grew up with Michael. 80s music is the best. My favourite who was on your cover picture for the video is Björk my Scandinavian Scorpio sistar. I saw her in concert 3 times from east to west and Back Again. She performed in a small Church in Oakland and then on a huge stage with enormous explosive fire on Coney Island and New York City. I've been listening to her since she was a little girl singing gling Glo and with a sugar cubes as a punk rock teen. Motorcrash best song. Tapitkerass incredible also. The Icelandic band Sigur Ros opened for her. They are quite amazingly original too👊👽 but no one can replicate or even come near to Legendary Björk Gudmondottirs voice. Great job here mate 🎶💃🏿💃🏼💃🏽 cha cha cha!
bjorks voice is awsome i love it
One of my all time favorite voices. I'd also but Beth gibbons voice up there too
Love her too, but i agree that it is an acquired taste. The first time I heard Birthday I was like wtf?
What about these:
Kate Bush
Steve Marriott,
Sia,
Ian Gillan
Sandy Denny,
Buddy Holly,
Steve Perry,
James Hetfield,
Lemmy
Bon Scott
John Lennon,
Rod Stewart
Melanie martinez?
Don't forget Justin Beaver
Adolph Hitler He definitely doesn’t have an unique voice, unless you mean uniquely shit..?
What about Getty Lee
@@LauraBidingCitizen they are probably joking from the way he/she spelt his name
Karen Carpenter. Unique, if that means pure, crisp understandable words and a truly heavenly voice
Totally agree.
Karennnnnn!!!!!!
Wait what about Bob Marley?
Glorious voice, but lots of singers sound like her. Gloria Estefan comes to mind.
Shakira's voice is music to my soul. Forever her fan. ❤
BJORK FUCK YES
:D
♥
❤
😻
I'm SO HAPPY that Joanna Newsom is here, but I missed the Bee Gees, Jonna Lee, Karin Dreijer and most of all KATE F*UCKING BUSH!!!! WHERE IS SHE
YES! someone else wondering where Kate Bush is!
+Natan Caetano Never heard of Newsome but that they put her here and not Kate Bush is unbelievable. And where is Annie Lennox fer feck's sake!
*****
Kate Bush is founder and CEO in the company THE WHOLE FREAKING WORLD™
also Björk is God and Enya is Chronos, so I think we're pretty much safe.
IMOGEN HEAP SHOULD ALSO BE HERE.
LAYNE FUCKING STALEY IS ROLLING OVER IN HIS GRAVE AS WE SPEAK
+BobSagetCharlieSheen Exactly, I am so fucking disappointed about the fact he is not on here
+BobSagetCharlieSheen I know right!?!? and what happened to FLO RIDA?
Dont get me wrong i fucking love Layne but i wouldnt say is voice is unique.
Your funny. Even Eddie Vedder is on this list but Layne isn't. And when was the last time you heard a voice like Layne Staley?
Eddie's voice is alot more unique though.
If this is suppose to be about unique voices, I thought I'd see Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries on this list or at least an honorable mention.
Austin Martin
Totally! Same here!!
Austin Martin I imagine the running theme of this list is 'good music', sorry bro.
I agree.
Yeah.... Wtf!?!?
I was actually hoping to see alanis morisett too....
Joe Strummer (The Clash)
Marc Bolan (T. Rex)
Karen Carpenter (The Carpenters)
Morrissey (The Smiths)
Ian Curtis (Joy Division)
Karen Carpenter had a voice that is very hard to emulate. It's been nearly impossible to do. Probably the greatest female voice ever.
duchovny2 Completely agree. In my opinion, it hands down is *THE* greatest female voice ever.
Yes!!! Karen Carpenter would always put me in a tranqil mood. Good one there man!! :)
How about Robert Smith?
KryptoChronicutelite ༼ つ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° ༽つ Yeah, Karen is awesome!
BJÖRK GODDESS OF SOUNDS
Yesssssss
YESS
+Pablo Castro YES. Not putting her on number one makes this whole list questionable.
+Pablo Castro goddess sparkle...beautiful human being, good heart and very sincere. she changed my life in ever good ways.
The only artist that can center my spirit. Bjork absolutely yesssss!😄
Michael Jackson is in almost evey music related video of watch mojo😍😍.
Legend 😌😌 nd the king of pop 🥰
No order, but my list(Not a Top 10) of most unique/quick to recognize:
-Tom Waits
-King Diamond
-Freddie Mercury
-Billy Corgan
-Phil Anselmo
-Joe Cocker
-Axl Rose
-Lemmy Kilmister
-Barry Gibb
-Janis Joplin
-Marilyn Manson
-Michael Jackson
-Bob Dylan
-Frank Sinatra
-Tom Petty
-Dexter Holland
-Bruce Springsteen
Those are the only ones off the top of my head. If you know who they are you know exactly when you hear them.
#barrygibb1st
+Jim Garrison i agree axl should be there
for a unique voice I would add the bee gees like them or not
No Beatles? Heck, I can recognize any of their vocals, as solo singers, never mind the band. Especially Ringo.
+Jim Garrison Better list than what Mojo put up. I would add Elvis to that list.
May David Bowie rest in peace
And Freddie Mercury
+Cheyenne Sprowl Freddie Mercury...
+Ryuichi Sakuma 100%agree. I love seeing comments like this, they make me remember that there still are Mercury lovers out there. RIP Freddie
+Eve H Yeah, we're still out here. (^_^)
Freddie Mercury fan FOREVER!
yes😿😿
“Run over by a train and decided to sing about it”
Jajajajajajajajja Jajajajajajajaa Jajajajajajaja that was a good one
Ozzy Osbourne, Kurt Cobain, Billie Joe Armstrong, M.Shadows, ELVIS FUCKING PRESLEY, Corey Taylor, Johannes Eckerstömm, Serj Tankian, Marilyn Manson, Dolores O'Riordan, Chester Bennington, Jake Bugg, Boy George and Johnny Cash?!
I know some of them have a bigger impact on the music industry than others, but all the above are very indistinguishable in sound.
Crytica calm down
Crytica ELVIS PRESLEY ISN'T THER?!!!
Crytica Nah not M.Shadows
Crytica especially Charles Bennington
And Janis Joplin and Axl Rose too.
I think Avi Kaplan has amazing voice, I know that he's one of the newest artists but still...
YESSS
+Effie Hupez ALL PTX
Yesss please
Hands down, Kate Bush 🖤
@TOM You clearly have a a lot of time on your hands peeping Tom. Reading comments from a year ago?! Hands down, your comment made a huge difference in my life. Imma go cry about it.
Calling Ray Charles "a visionary" is hilarious to me
I havent finished the video but The Cranberries better be on here
Well, I'm disappointed lol
i'm not disappointed
i love them!
Lets see, Rob Halford, Dave Mustaine, Mark Knopfler, Mick Jagger, Elvis Presley, James Hetfield, Bon Scott, Axl Rose
Papa Het !!!
I agree but keep Freddy Mercury and David Bowie
The Bomb Nice profile pic XD My favorite Metallica album aswell
+V10 FSI ride the lightning is a master piece
The Bomb Yes it is!
Did somebody say master??
Master Of Puppets?
With a few exceptions, this is really more of a _top ten most famous, and or greatest singers_ than a top ten most unique voices. Seems many others ignored the word _unique_ in the title too.
Aylbdr Madison definitely true, although good on them for putting Billy Corgan on the list, since his voice is far more unique than it is good. I assume he’s one of the exceptions you’re referring to?
Karen carpenter had the clearest and most unique voice.
Thank You❤👍
What about Elvis Presley, Lemmy kilmister, James Hetfield, Johnny cash or Kurt Cobain?
And Aqua
Or tiny tim
I like the honorable mentions better than the majority of the list
Yea
+Karami42 I'm old enough to have seen Udo in concert. Fantastic voice. Serj had one of the most unique voices ever and Sabbath, Ozzy's original band is the reason I love metal.
+Karami42 And there wouldn't be a Metallica and many others without Lemmy
I knew she sounded very similar to Kate Bush!
+Spy Retto I thought the same as well. Kate Bush singing 'Wuthering Heights' used to give me nightmares when I was tiny, according to my mum. I'd start crying- I think it's because I thought she was a ghost or something
Axl Rose? Where the fuck is he? There is not a single voice like his.
+mofo thank god!
But you do have a point.
+mofo Agreed....I tried singing like him once, I hurt my throat badly, never attempted that again....I have to put Tone Loc in there too, I know he's considered a rapper....but nobody sounds likes him.....I heard him in interviews, couldn't believe this guy sounds like that....without no Auto-tune like they do nowadays.
incredibly annoying? yes you are right. Maybe beyonce but its preaty much a tie really
David James no one asked for your opinion you talentless fuck. Come back when you can sing through over 4 octaves.
You don't just and go raspy without training, Obviously that's going to hurt your throat especially with bad tecnhique.
Rod Stewart, Bill Medley, Louis Armstrong, Kate Bush, Tom Petty, Phil Anselm, Roy Orbison, Joe Cocker, Rudi Valli, Frankie Valley, Nina Simone, Brian Johnson, Bjork, Dolly Parton, Prince, Eivor, Peter Criss, Vaughn Monroe, Dimash Kudalbergen, Steve Perry, Ray Charles, Stevie Nicks, Lemmy, Geddy Lee, Jessye Norman, Don WIlliams, Russ Taff, John Fogerty, Cyndi Lauper, Jeff Buckley, YMA SUMAC, Tiny Tim, Vitas, Tatiana Shmayluk, Neil Young, Susanna Hoffs, Horace Andy, Aaron Neville, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Diamanda Galas, Antony Hegarty, Chino Moreno...
Freddie should be number one. Nobody has and/or ever will have a voice as great as his.
and as much aids xD
Slim Jimmity nah nah no no no.... think of the rod stewart rumor, the richard gere rumor and combine it with david bowie, the dudes an aids rat lol
Completely subjective. And in my opinion, Eddie Vedder has a way better voice.
The list is not about "great" voices, don't get yourselves confused know. A unique voice is a completely different thing from technically great. For example Lemmy. His voice isn't anywhere near good but the uniqueness of it makes it great.
I agree with you..Fredy from all of them have most powerful und specific voice who can sing many octaves. ..
Sting? Rod Stewart? Bruce Springsteen? Axl Rose? Bon Scott? Brian Johnson? Mick Jagger? Michael Stipe? Tom Jones? John Lennon?
Phil Collins? Steven Tyler? Prince? Brad Roberts? Whitney Houston? Sammy Davis, Jr.? Eva Cassidy? Anthony Kiedis? P!nk? Serj Tankian? Elvis Presley?
Lemmy Kilmister? Janis Joplin? Tom Petty? Bruce Dickinson? Marilyn Manson? Till Lindemann? Edith Piaf? Marianne Faithfull?
Bono? Johnny Cash? Annie Lennox? Louis Armstrong? Meat Loaf? Aimee Mann? Cyndi Lauper? Shaggy? Jack Black? Roger Daltrey? Nick Cave? Bonnie Tyler? Gianna Nannini? Sean Paul?
+TheLegendaryDoc I guess they need a top 100 list...it is all so subjective. But dammit Lennon should be on that list!
Elvis..
Björk, the queen ! 😁
Shy Stone i would marry her if im thirteen
Indeed the bestest!!!
Missing from list: Bon Scott, Robert Plant.
No doubt. Few could belt out something like Plant's voice in Kashmir, except for Daltry got close minus high notes. Really though ,Plant ,nobody could sound like him without shredding their vocal chords. And Scott , he was off the hook with apiercing voice, like Plant , but not quite same on the long high screams either IMO..
Another dude should be on the list would be Scott Stamp, he got the same treatment as Tim Tebow , as the MSM(just like the rich owners of the NFL) hates Christians. (I wonder why? 88,LOL) They put Vedder on the list , but Stamp is a unique power voice.
Also they missed Rob Halford . , which says it all.
Wow. SO many iconic and truly unique voices that never made your list. I agreed with only 6 of your 10 but feel there are several that more deservingly needed to be on the list.
Karen Carpenter
Barry White
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Delores O'Riordan
Johnny Cash
Anita Baker
Bryan Adams
Minnie Ripperton
Dean Martin
Instantly recognizable and "unique" voices that got no mention at all on your list
I agreed with 5 of the 10 on this list.I felt like at least 2 of these artists Whitney Houston,Hall& Oates,Kenny Loggins,Louie Armstrong or Mike Patton should've made this list.
Zayn Malik, Kenny Rodgers, Sam Smith, Billy Ocean And Judas Priest
How is it that Stevie Nicks is not in this mix?
And Bonnie Tyler, James Blunt, Tom Petty, Kim Carnes, Sia, and Lana Del Rey.
Check out My Name is Ruin by Gary Numan - You will get unique and Original! - and this started in 1979 with Ruin being released NOW in 2017! Impressive!
Prince had a very unique voice. He was able to hit high and low notes. In his first five albums, he sang all the vocals, harmony, and played all 27 instruments. He was a expert in many kinds of music including pop, rock, funk, jazz, rap, and heavy mental. He also was a great dancer. He was known as a musical genius.💜💜👁️👁️🎸🎸
He is up in heaven rocking and playing his guitar 🎸🎶💜.
Kate Bush doesn't get a mention? Come on! D=
Bingo.
I second this
I was about to post the same thing!
+PianoAngelOfSnow I just came here to see if kate Bush was included. Joanna Newsom is a fine singer, but her "avant garde" style seems to borrow heavily from Kate.
Omg I thought I was the only one!
