Just to clarify for those that don't know because it can be confusing. When they are talking about Tabaxi in Chult they are not talking about the catfolk that you can play in DnD. Tabaxi is the race of humans that are the Forgotten Realm's equivalent to Meso-Americans. I don't know why they have the same name as the catfolk but there you go.
As I recall, the Human Tabaxi often wear the skins of leopards, Jaguars, tigers, etc. When explorers first encountered the cat-folk, they mistook them for humans wearing cat skins, and so called them Tabaxi as well. It's kinda the Forgotten Realms version of calling Native Americans "Indians."
@@joshuatitler3952There absolutely are, but in the context of talking about the Ring the Tabaxi in question are humans. Mezro is populated by human Chultans entirely. (Ring of Winter is a favorite FR book of mine.)
Loves this episode. I ran TOA as my first DMing experience, and Artus was by far my favorite NPC, as well as his companion, to run. Levels 11+ will be about traveling the multiverse and finding his wife, which spelljammer and planescape are helping a lot with. Keep up the good work, I look forward to mondays because of you guys 🎉
I love this ring, though I have it written in as a reason for my world to have an ice ocean. Also, can you just imagine a barbarian getting this and when they rage the area around them becomes a storm of ice.
@@lordInquisitor it could be, especially later into the medieval period when Norway, Sweden and Denmark were actually becoming kingdoms but Jarls could also be equivalent to Princes.
@@InquisitorThomas There wasn’t exactly a codification of the title, yes it would be weird if someone said they were Jarl of Sweden instead of King of Sweden but a lot of times in history Kings were also called Jarls.
I don't know if it's been suggested before, but Chris Perkins runs a game called Dice, Camera, Action! that runs through a lot of the early modules; starting with Strahd, ending with Waterdeep, and crossing over with Acquisitions Inc. Artus Cimber and the Ring of Winter feature pretty heavily as they go through Tomb of Annihilation.
It’s nice to see you guys still doing the videos I’ve been watching y’all since the beginning. I can’t believe the guy said he actually liked gray hog better than forgotten realms though. Lol It’s plane escape or Eberron for me.
Ooooouh! A Dungeoncast Bundle would be a great price! Plus, a Demogorgon (shout out to Demogorgon) plushie would be so awesome! Anyway, I'm IN. Shout out to Spell Plague.
Comment! "It sears the flesh with intense cold and vibrates with power." My immediate thought was that somebody's last words were, "not like this. NOT LIKE THIS!" and i've been laughing nonstop for the last 8 minutes. send help.
The reason Artus isn't corrupted by the ring (as stated in the book) is essentially that his good intentions ward off its corrupting influence. Tomb of Annihalation is misleading in that it paints the ring as an actively malicious evil. The novel tells us that rather the power it offers is corruptive. The ring offers tremendous, murderous power to those who would use it. Those who use it to selfish ends lose control completely, resulting in its power erupting, causing spectacular collateral damage. When used toward selfless and good ends, one can resist it. When Artus donned the ring for the first time, he saw a vision of a Fareun buried in snow, with him as its icy king. He actively chose to reject this and use the ring for good, and so the ring submitted to him. Tldr Artus is just that guy
You didnt talk about Ghost Busters you talked about a comment from a user who mentioned Tobin's Spirit Guide. You had no clue what it was, because you're savages. 😆 The comment was an attempt to tell you what it was a reference to.
The tabaxi of Chult were known as cat warriors in Chult despite being human. when the jaguar folk migrated from maztica to chult they were assumed to be "tabaxi" and the jaguar folk just ran with it rather than correct it. This doesnt cause issues because unknown to most even in chult the human tabaxi have been wiped out.
Wait a minute, wait a minute... Have you guys been stealing patreon souls all these years!? God, im so glad im too poor to give you money! Also, you guys are liches. I hope you feel bad about that.
Guys, here’s my constructive criticism, I’m a big fan, love the content. But your short rest bit is a bit long I feel… I get it, it’s fun, it’s quirky, but we’re here for the content, the LORE of ages untold. Keep up the great work gentlemen.

There are 100% classic tabaxi in chult. There is the assassin in Omu as one example

ROFL, Brian... I also used to scoop out that tasty frost on those freezers
Thanks!
In a historical context, Jarl is pretty close to the level of King. It also kinda means chieftain but its just below or close to King.
Yes, but also most Jarldoms were generally fairly small, like you’re not the Jarl of Sweden, you’re the Jarl of a county in Sweden.
So comparable to a Duke?

I William walk with you through this Wicked Winter Wonderland.
Easily my favorite artifact. It’s like the one ring but way better.

I bought this novel not too long ago and read it. Its a fun and interesting read for a DnD novel.

Everytime I'm in chult the party steals the ring after killing its owner
For the Ice Poisonous Snakes, you swap out the Poison damage for Cold Damage 😎👌
Why is there so much ice on that cave's sphincter??
It’s been a while guys, you really upgraded your setup huh?
Go with B-Earth. That way, when you cast Control you will have created B-Earth Control.
Mercury snakes!
of all the comments I've left, *that one* is the one that gets mentioned of course xD

Beern should have a show off against an artificer that uses ai to generate paintings and Beern must prove that real paint is superior
