The termite mounds are such a cool idea. Dr. Jane Goodall also observed chips accessing water in various recesses by gently chewing up some leaves and using them as a sponge to lift out the water from a hole and drinking from the makeshift sponge. Any way to duplicate this behavior in the chimp sanctuary?

The habitat needs organic herbs veggies & fruit... Not just random objects to eat everywhere... They need to use their mind more & bring themselves back to what mother nature intentended by using their instincts to go forage for food & figuring out things on their own like this trek outside. They need organic nutrients
(for the mind, body, & soul)!

What looks like random to you is actually very well planned. What they are doing IS natural behaviour. Chimps like humans are omnivorous. They eat far more than just fruit and herbs, which they do get as well as other things to keep them busy. The enrichment simulates natural behaviours. But as most of these chimps have never know living in the while they also have other behaviours which are not. These chimps are given the choice to do what they wish in a safe and protected environment.

This video is populated by volunteers. Go there and actually volunteer your time, rather than pontificate online like a fart in the wind.
