    Dallas didn’t deserve to win, but Oettinger certainly did. Excellent performance.

      My thoughts exactly! It's a bit bittersweet. I hate to see when a goalie performs so unbelievably well in plays unimaginably hard, but doesn't get the W. Then again, I hate to see a team play so hard and not get rewarded.
      But I do believe the Flames are the better team, though this contest was very close. I tip my hat to the Stars.

      Proving as always, it takes a TEAM to win the Cup. Not rely on just a couple of players. I think the Oilers will find this out in the next round. The "NHL Florida State Playoffs" should be fun to watch because both teams are very well balanced.

    im a flames fan. the frustration i felt watching oettenger just ruin the flames has somehow made him one of my all time favourites. if dallas was playing any other team id cheer for them just because of this guy

    As a flames fan. Hats off to ottenger. Best playoff goaltending performance I've ever seen. This was a very lopsided game minus ottie. Kids got a bright future.

      100%, and specially this game but but honestly throughout the entire series. It felt like you guys could’ve scored at least 2-3 extra goals per game. If it wasn’t for him, I think Calgary would’ve taken care of business in 5

      @@SuperXcaliber actually, Johnny was born in Salem, NJ and grew up in Carney’s Point, NJ, which is a small town/suburb that is just outside of Philly. The county it’s in actually surrounds Philly on 3 sides 😂

    Was walking my dog after the game. A guy pulled over and asked if the flames won. I said yes in overtime he yelled “woohoo” and drove off honking…I’m in Australia.

    This Calgary team had so much potential still.. I’m still hurt this team fell apart, I swear we were one piece away from sweet Stanley. On the other note rip Johnny hockey.. for some reason I always thought he’d come back just shut us up. Man I miss flames hockey with Johnny leading

      @@minstrelca also as a goalie you're playing the odds. He's moving when Gaudreau shoots so he's tightening up all the high percentage openings. There's pucks width above his shoulder and from that angle he's giving Gaudreau that shot. 99/100 a player can't hit it especially from there. But Gaudreau did.

The only disappointment has been the potential for an 'all Canadian' final disappeared when the Leafs went golfing. Sigh.

    Calgary literally won this series by one overtime goal. In the whole series Calgary got 15 goals and Dallas 14. 🤯

    What a goalie.. what a game.. what a series !!!
    There are many among us who wished for the Battle of Alberta. . But almost everyone will agree that its sad that it had to come at the expense of Jake Oettinger

    Proud of my home team they deserve it, they worked hard for it. Oettinger, you my man, you put up a good fight and deserve all the praise you can get. Dallas, keep this guy for as long as you can, he is absolutely insane. And Johnny Hockey, insane snipe of a goal, outta all the players, he def deserves that last goal. Well done flames!

    That Dallas goaltending is indicative of the ‘19 series against the Blues, which they also lost in a game 7 overtime. Phenomenal. I did not think Dallas would make a series of it. Hats off.

    Incredible 🤩🤩🤩 what a Game,what a series. Finally i cant here the name „Oettinger“ annymore and then Johnny puts it home. Such a well deserved win for the Flames. So many chances and so many shots. Great.

    This was the first hockey game i’ve watched ever. Let me just say, wow!! I’ll definitely be watching more.
    Question: Was this the equivalent to the 2016 NBA Finals game 7?

      As a Cleveland resident and Cavaliers fan no. I stayed up all night watching this game because Cleveland doesn’t have a hockey team and I have Dallas. You picked a great first game it was amazing.

      Personally as a hockey fan I wouldn’t think so because this is in the 1st round and not deeper in the playoffs one game you can compare to is Ottawa and Pittsburg in game 7 of the eastern conference finals a very dramatic game that I would say best resembles that

    5:22 Chucky looking at Marky and pointing at Johnny for him to get him the puck.. curls around, takes the pass at roofed it. Beautiful. Chucky redeemed himself for his play this series.

    So glad the Flames took this one! But oh man, did Oettinger make them work for it! First star of the game for sure! If this guy keeps it up, he's going to be a force in the league for years to come! Kudos to the Flames for keeping the pressure on, and not to disregard Markstrom's performance! It was stellar as well.
    Good luck against the Oilers!

    I remember taking my dog on a walk on Gm5. Flames were down 0-1, and when I came back, up 2-1. I did it twice tonight. The score was 0-1, and I returned to see 2-2. I left midway through the 3rd period, and I returned to see 3-2 OT.

    Never really felt it was fair to say Johnny Hockey never comes up big in the postseason because a lot of his misses are usually on great saves man; it’s always hats off to fantastic tenders he’s up against. But great for my guy!!!

    The 1st round usually holds a few surprises but Bowness said- "we aren't going to be anyone's stepping stone to the 2nd round". He's a hell of a coach.
    Props to the Stars for an amazing series. Sutter said Oettinger was the best player in the series, but also that Calgary deserved the win.

    Calgary had 62 shots and Oettinger only let 3 get passed him. They should keep him on Dallas. Amazing performance, a good sight to behold.

      They don't deserve a thanks for anything. From day 1 of preseason it was the same BS. The entire mindset of that team has been a disaster for years. This team should have won the cup the last 3 years.

    Watching as a flames fan Oettinger was so frustrating to play against. The amount of times they were looking to the ceiling in disbelief after a damn near perfect shot was insane. I’m happy for the flames and for Oettinger, what a series for him!

    Mike Smith better be ready for the battle of Alberta! He's going to be facing a lot more quality of shots in the next round. My wife don't usually watched hockey, but she knows Jake Oetinger stoning the Flames night in night out for the past 2 weeks. She usually reading a book when I watch the game. But I noticed she's been looking at the screen alot telling me that goalie on the other side is pretty good!

      Same goes for Markstrom. Oilers have a much higher caliber offense than Dallas does. Something tells me this series might cause me heart problems

    As a Calgary fan, Oettinger was the MVP out of both teams. Even though my team won, I have nothing but full respect for his performance. I hope that Dallas can continue to see how you’ll develop as a goaltender.

      Ok, so I'm dating myself, but a young Ken Dryden in '71 stoned Orr, Esposito and the high scoring bruins en route to a Conn Smythe trophy and the Stanley Cup. To top it off, Dryden then won Rookie of the year the following season.
