    I've been doing that with my Runner beans (pole) for the last few years, they not only re-grow but they re-grow with a vengeance which gives me beans till the first frost.

    My experience with bush beans is much different. I'm in southern MO, zone 6b. I've always picked the beans when they were ready, and the plants seem to keep going forever. I heard many recommend succession planting, but I'd actually never heard of pulling the plants once those initial blooms fruited. I've always had more beans than I could deal with and would give tons away. Sure, I had to pick on an almost daily basis, but that's how I learned it.

      Good to know! I am in zone 6a in Missouri and this is my first year doing serious gardening and succession planting for a big harvest seemed like a lot of beds and a lot more work. I will try this instead.

      I am in Michigan, and I have the same thing going on here. I invite my neighbors to harvest during early mornings or evenings. Literally, when harvested, I'll check later that night, and it's like 10 more grew lol I have to vacuum seal it and put in the freezer.

    • @6648rome
      @6648rome Год назад +1

      I pick daily as well. I thing they keep going for quite a while. Im in 5b and kthey do eventually stop flowering. I do plant more just as I have holes in my garden and I also do some cutting back of the ones already spent.

      Planted my beans April 6th, it's Sept 26th they're still blooming and bearing. I harvest daily and remove any beans that have turned yellow. We've eaten green beans all this summer and frozen many as well. They did slow down when it was very hot out but now that the weather has cooled they are growing fast again.

I have .68 of a acre and built my above ground beds got them filled along with 20 wicking tubs and 20 30lb grow bags. Cutting back and getting another harvest makes me very happy thank you

    Amazing. I am growing them hydroponically indoors. I selected bush beans to limit size and trellis needs in a confined space. My first test is working wonderfully with lots of purple and yellow beans being produced right now from my three test plants. I will try this method when they look like they are done.

    Whaaat?! I can't believe I've never heard of this before but it does make a lot of sense. It would be a survival mechanism for the plant to grow back if, say, deer went through and grazed the tops off. Thank you so much! I will certainly give that a try this year.

    This is amazing and I really liked your video. I usually don't like the term permaculture, because it refers to a new state of mind that makes older gardener's as not knowing how to grow veggies and the mind state, which is so not true. I will be trying the purple green beans, because I have a slug problem, Not the big slugs, but the small slugs in Eastern Oregon. Thanks so much. Don

Guess the question really is how strong of a fruit set do u get by cutting back the plant vs dropping a new plant in its place? Thanks.
