We sure were lucky and blessed to have Jean Redpath with us on the earth for a while! Her voice always reminds me of the impossibly sweet music of the birds, the winds in the grasses, the songs of the rain etc.

A pity she didn't record 'Glasgow Lullaby' (title from German producer) a decade earlier: it could have been written for herr smoky voice.

Thank you for posting these three songs by Jean Redpath. I've heard her in performance, I have some of her recordings, but I only knew one of these three, the first song. The other two are discoveries for me, and I am grateful for your bringing the three together. And thank you for your notes.

I wish I had known about Jean Redpath while she was still alive. She had an exceptionally beautiful voice. Thank you for these lovely recordings.

Fantastic voice. Gordeanna McCulloch also recorded a wonderful version of "Willie's Rare" as "Willie's Droon'd in Yarrow," accompanied by a harp.

Two different singers. Jean is more in the drawing-room tradition - Gordeanna closer to the raw bothy tradition. Both absolutely outstanding carriers of the tradition - the world feels a poorer place without them...

Less mezzo in her voice at this young age.
