Nice unboxing and comparison. My sand master has been to 42 mph and i have had no problems with the gearbox.I thought that would have blown it up lol I put 60w in the front and 90w in the rear shocks and it works great. love this little buggy. Thanks for sharing!

That's a really cool looking little buggy. It reminds me of one of my very first rc's that my parents got for me from Radio Shack when I was a little boy. You know the gear noise might just be the pinion to tight against the spur.

Howdy, the gear mesh is a factory set pinion ratio only design. Basically you choose the ratio you like. Thanks

Yeah the spurgear is probably wobbly like many others, it might share the spurgear with the Kyosho Dirt Master as well btw, both based on the kyosho RB5 transmission i believe.
This rc originally released back in 2011 so.

These do not have the rb5 transmission, the transmission on these cars are the same as the equally awful nexxe and axxe cars. Rubbish

I totally agree, I’m not sure what people expect for $139 bucks. Matter of fact of all the cars I own I run it the most. I did do a tiny upgrade I’m gonna share in the summer that changes the buggy in the positive for little money. Funnily how I said I would not do that in the video. 😆

These look great and good price but the issues I’ve seen on other channels outweigh the price and look.. especially from Kyosho 😢 great vid dude.. yours sounds better than runs nicer than others.. Pete

Sorry I’m late watching this. I dig these, even though they have a spur gear problem. I definitely think my next new RC purchase is gonna be one of these along with a cheap brushless setup

Howdy friend, Thanks for stopping by. I think for the price you can’t go wrong. It’s got issues but sometimes tossing a few bucks on a cheap car is fun-I’ve done it a few times on my channel I/e Radio Shack Red Arrow 😆. Unfortunately or fortunately I went a bit crazy on multiple purchases so no upgrades on SM 2.0. Funds got tight and wife’s given me side eye ..😆

I love this buggy! Personally, I would put a 14 or 17 turn motor and a 1060 variator, (20-22 mph) without damaging the transmission, it is more than enough for me. (I am concerned about the availability of important parts for this car) since its brothers (Axxe, sandmaster, nexxt and monster tracker Ez Series) at some point all these years suffered from availability of parts such as the gearbox, which was out of stock for a long time. time! I have an axxe Ez Series (same chassis as the sandmaster) and I had a lot of problems finding the new gearbox (there are parts on eBay but some are already used) Greetings and great review

wonderful contribution friend! Do you think this car can handle 23 or 24 mph for long periods of time without damaging the gearbox?

In stock plastic gearing no. I feel this to be Basically on toy grade as its narrow and 40amp esc drive shafts pop out, plastic pinion. Thanks for watching.

Hi Luke. Good video but as people have said these are awful cars. Having owned one (kyosho axxe but same platform) the transmission is shockingly bad, lots of play, weak gears, rubbish mesh, the list goes on. I love kyosho but these are rubbish

@leehurst6922 I have a kyosho axxe! and I'm afraid to do it without brushes, I'll settle for 21 mph without damaging any gears in the differential and transmission (so far I haven't broken any teeth but I keep it with the stock 22 turns motor)
