These proverbs are very impressive indeed. Thank you so much. This is South Sudanese Dinka language proverbs. The beggar can not ask for a big bowl. The meaning is the person who is begging, can not have a say over whatever have been given to them. If what have been given to them is small they would just be great ful, and say nothing at all.
I love the way you explain. I just started a new RUclips channel and I am infusing English Language tutorials in my vlog. I have a strong knack for English language. I have been creating content and not posting. I just have this fear that I may run out of content, but seeing your channel, I am more than encouraged. In my country, my age group prefer news and gossip to English language tutorials. I posted 2days ago. I will keep posting, I will not give up. I need all the support I can get. I will get to the top some day.
"One of the way you can find happiness and meaning in your life helping others using the gifts that we had been given! Work hard so the people will benefit from your talent so the people will see it!" Thank you so much for these wise words!!! They are priceless!
God! I enjoy your videos so much. Thank you, and God Bless! :) Thanks so much. We do have the same same proverb of English" Do not count your chickens until they hatch", with a slight difference: In Persian/ Iranian language or Farsi we say:" Wait for counting your chickens until the end of Fall season".
Hello! I’m a high school student in Korea. I just wanna say to thanks. Your video helped my presentation to be a success. Thanks a lot. (P.s I got some help from a translator. I'm sorry that the sentences and meanings are a bit messed up.)

Hi lisa. I love you I brought you some Persian proverbs you told in video. Stick the bread until the oven is hot = Make hay while the sun shines. The head that doesn't hurt, isn't covered with a handkerchief.= If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Losing my head or gaining a hat = I'll cross that bridge, when I get there.
Thank you for invaluable and meaningful proverbs. Proverbs are true words because they are passing from generations to generations. We must make an effective use of proverbs. They help live a life we want. Sometimes words are powerful than actions. Life is not full of roses.
Hi Lisa . I'm from Bahrain . We have a famous proverb " Sieze the opportuninties because they pass like clouds" and " If lose the fox , you will see nothing but his dust".
Hi Lisa, nice lesson about proverbs, your explanation made each one clear. In Mexico we have this one: "If you really want to do something you will find a way, if you don't...you will find an excuse" And, my talent is: making and playing pan flutes, actually I teach people how to play them, I love it.!!!!
Thanks Lisa for taking time to write me back. There's a lot of teaching English videos in RUclips, but your lessons are outstanding, I really appreciate your passion and professionalism in teaching us your lessons without knowing us. I teach people to play pan flutes for fun, but I have a dream: To make a living out of this. Maybe some day I will tell you my story. Que sigas cosechando muchos éxitos!!!
Great content and Channel! I will definitely share this with my daughters who are currently 8 and 10 years old. We started a book reading channel to improve their English reading and comprehension skills. Greetings from Estonia. We say here like this when talking about laziness: The mouse is not running to the mouth of the sleeping cat. And similar to your expression with the hay.... I googled and found the same expression in English: to strike while the iron is hot. Rough translation from Estonian would be "hammer the iron til it is still hot".
The dog that barks never bites is pretty common in my country NEPAL too. Other proverbs like : - If you have legs, you can get enough shoes 👟 - Tomorrow never comes [just do it now ] - Sweets on both hand [ more profit ] - A bad man quarrells with his tools - a drop in the ocean. - all worship rising sun 🌞 -beat the dog before the lion /tiger. - see your neck before you swallow bone /meat . - don't play with fire - strike the iron while it's red - the door is wider than the house [ spending more than earning ] - when the snake is old, frog rules - time and tide never wait for you. And Many more.....
Hello teacher, «A quién madruga Dios le ayuda» "Who get up early, will be helped by God" More or less it means that: If you don't be lazy and work hard, God will help you sooner or later. «No dejes para mañana lo que puedas hacer hoy» "Do not leave for tomorrow what you can do today " It means: Don't be lazy! We use popular proverbs in Egypt (Arabic) for example. (The earring gives those who have no ears) "in a mocking way". It means that an unworthy person gets something that he dosn’t deserve it or he is not qualified to get that opportunity like a job, marriage, earning a large fortune without getting tired, we always use to derogate the person who gets the opportunity. For example, when a poor man got married to a rich and beautiful woman, or when an unsuccessful person gets a good profession.
«Dormirse en los laureles» «Resting on one's laurels» It means: Neglecting or abandoning oneself in the activity undertaken, trusting in the successes that have been achieved. That is to say that after having achieved some success, we relax, we do not try any more because we pretend that we are always valued and we are reminded of how good we were.
