Due to choking hazard of young children, these jumbo polymer balls have been recalled and can no longer be purchased.
Water Balz jumbo polymer balls aka hydrogel, magic growing water balls...super absorbent polymers seed experiment!
I've used polymers in potted plants along with soil, but haven't tried it just by itself. I'm sure with proper nutrition added to your growing medium that it is possible...sounds exciting and would like to see your update! Please keep me posted, thank you :-) Misilla
THANK YOU! I mean I recently found out about these AFTER they were recalled and now I cant get them even for educational purposes. I don't know why the brand didn't use the argument that they had stated the age limit on the package because if they did it would still be selling today. People should not buy them and/or leave them out if they know what they can do and have a little one around.

TheSymbioteSaga37 Yes but the pearls for vases have a a smaller growth limit. these ones specifically made to grow bigger then normal.

'Learn to grow' is correct that there was a recall on the original Water Balz polymer balls, and they're pretty much impossible to find. BUT ...
Go to eBay and do a search for "jumbo jelly water ball", and you'll find some very similar SAP balls available.

The polymers absorb water as you submerge them in it. I figured placing seeds inside the polymers would help sprout them since there is water...I placed them under a light, but there was lack of oxygen, so the seeds did not grow much after sprouting a tiny bit...I was bored and I was experimenting :) Thanks for watching and commenting! Hi Linh, Unfortunately, the Water Balz brand is no longer being sold. I just searched Amazon, but there are some other brands similar, but does not get as big. Due to the recall last fall, the company had to pull them all off the shelves. I guess someone had given it to a baby under a year old and swallowed it, had to get it surgically removed, because it can cause blockage & could be fatal. Why would anyone give it to a baby anyway? It clearly states years and up. Thanks for watching!

Hi, yes you have to buy them...The trademark brand is Orbeez, but Amazon sells cheaper ones...These Water Balz have been recalled so I can't find them anymore :-( Hope this helps! Misilla

Very carefully...I used a a toothpick and skewer stick at first and broke most of them, since the bigger they are the more fragile they are. ...So I decided to use a drinking straw and suctioned a small piece making a tunnel like passage so the seed would fit through the polymer. I don't recommend for anyone to try it as polymers can cause blockage in the digestive track if swallowed and can be fatal! I was extremely careful! Thanks for watching :-) Misilla
You soak the small polymers in water and they expand...the big ones got recalled can't buy them anymore :-(
Hi Emilio, I found them on Amazon.com...just search "water balz" on their search bar...the only ones that come up are some other brands, just read the reviews. The Water Balz brand are hard to find :(

Nick N. Hi the jumbo polymers have been recalled just right after I uploaded this video. You can still buy the Orbeez brand. I used very thing stir straw to make a passage for the seeds carefully so the polymers don't break in half. Thanks for watching! Misilla

Not edible...their pretty much plastic and dangerous if swallowed. Can cause blockage in the intestines.
