Wow, watching y'all bail out the water with a pot brought back memories of hurricane Alecia in 1983 and my dad bailing water out of our pump house. With a little pot just like that 🤣
That there is a PROFESSIONAL grade Revere copper clad sauce pan. Speaking about a pot calling the kettle black, seems to me that fix was about on par with the DIY job.
Wrong. If you close that internal valve there is still water in the line because that valve is lower then the bib. Loss of heat is from the outside in so the water remaining in that line will freeze at the top making a plug before the 90 then it will freeze through that section. The whole purpose of a pitless adapter is to put all the water lines and connections below ground to protect them from freezing without having to have a well pit. Hence the term pitless. His connection has completely defeated the entire purpose of a pitless adapter. What he should have done was dug up a the supply line a few yards away from the well put a valved T on the line then connected a frost proof yard faucet.
Topic Suggestion: installing or replacing a pitless adaptor. Here in the upper Midwest (MN) almost every well has a pitless adaptor. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Hello, I live in south eastern Wisconsin and I need to replace my well’s bladder tank. What is the best bladder you would recommend that will last for many years? Thank you.
So when you evaluate a site for drilling, you check with surrounding properties to see how deep their wells are before you start. So you have an estimate of depth. When do you decide what pump to use? After you actually drill and decide how many gallons per minute you actually get?
@@H2oMechanic2RC ok, i think I've I got it. So it doesn't matter that the tank comes after the fixture. The pump will still operate based on the pressure switch at the tank.
And for the love of god...... STOP using pvc male adapters and for that matter, why on earth would any person use a brass male threaded into a plastic npt? At least use a hose clamp to keep it from spitting. New sub
Good thing brass isnt a magnet for cold weather. I would've went for the Woodford poking out a couple of inches. Record the next repair so we can learn.
If the water carries a voltage it will not matter if you stick your finger or you whole hand in the water, it makes no difference. If the voltage is high enough it will kill you. Me as an electrical engineer I would always turn power off first. If I can't turn it off the I won't touch it. Just saying, your decision.
I am EE aswell. Finger = small surface area ->lower current flow. Also if you just flick the finger on live circuit it will just briefly shock you. Problem is when you can't let go of some cable due to the electricity closing your muscles. Also 120V relative to ground in USA is quite safe.
@@integr8er66 This statement isn't true. Otherwise fishing with electricity couldn't work. Or did you hear of a hear dryer falling into the bathtub? The voltage in the water depends on the resistance of the materials involved. Voltages are proportional to the respective resistors. And remember, there isn't such a thing like zero Ohms, even copper has a small resistance, and "ground" (the actual earth) has much more. So while 120V is safer than 240V, it should not be trusted.

If you are an electrical engineer, you should know that resistance decreases with contact surface increase. More skin in water = less ohms between skin and water = more current.
@@tomgroenbeck7620 The statement is true, first off I didn't say just being in water makes it grounded, being in contact with earth makes it grounded, we run extension cords connectors and all for ice eaters when duck hunting, stand in the same water right next to the cords, no problem. Voltage is definitely not proportional to resistance, voltage is a function of the source., and resistance of pure water is > 18 meg ohms. however add minerals such as with a well and it goes WAYYYYY down.
First off, thank you for your great content! I just want to caution you about bashing DIYers…your audience is mainly DIYers. I’m sure you DIY things yourself that are not “professional”.
This one was pretty stupid of the homeowner. If you stop to please every group or police yourself as to not offend well that’s a sure way to exist in a state of misery.
welll yeah , pvc is shit.. use abs, you'lll never have to touch it again. pvc- 100psi rating..... abs - 1200 psi, its double thick and solid,, cant bend it
Just don’t do work like that unless you can get the homeowner to sign a contract which states in no uncertain terms that they are acknowledging that they are an absolute dumbass and you take no credit for the work as installed and will not warranty said work. When homeowners ask you, a skilled tradesman w pride in his work and skill, to cut corners so they can save a buck do the right thing and tell em to kick rocks. If everyone would stop acting like it’s your problem if the homeowner decides to hire a crack hear to do their job instead of a qualified person we’d all be better off
We've got that same bird hose bib in the garden! Bought it NOS at a yard sale decades ago. Never saw another until today!
Seen a lot of similar ones in Canada. Birds, rabbits and such.

That will be an exciting electric bill.
Thanks for sharing the “not so nice side”
I bet they were so proud when they finished!😮😅😊
Send the bill to them!
Freeze, break, fix, income in and on a regular basis!😂

I was 7 years old and living in Lake Jackson Texas for Hurricane Alicia, where were you at?
That's a very good pan that you use for bailing. My mom gave me one like that when I got out of the USAF and was setting up a home in another state..
Revere Ware, got a set of them that are 20 years old.
That looks like a Revere copper clad sauce pan!

Well the 3 pound faucet ornament probably didn’t help the stress on the pvc. Great video. Be Safe!
I kinda like their fancy faucet handle.
It won't freeze in the winter as long as he shuts off the PVC valve inside and and cracks open the hose bib.

How exactly do you consider MN Midwest? Its not MID at all it is a Nother State.
That a hell of a bird bath 😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
DIY'ers = Job security.
DIY'r deserves the bird for that one ;)
have a great day
Where is the anti siphon valve? Is that not required? Great videos!
Oras makes a frost proof hydrant like that one that can be shortened to whatever length you want, don’t know if they’re available in the US though.
I like that Bird! Whats wrong with that $45.00 Bronze Bird? 😂

Got to have sufficient clearance for your doohickey!
OMG! That is, they still went through the adapter to the wellhead just to get a watering tap? Or does the adapter also have a tee located underground?
Schedule 40 PVC properly installed will last a long time. I prefer it to pex especially with a lot of bends
The shut off for the winter.

Well if you're gonna do dumb things at least they had the foresight to put a valve.
Would you want to shock the well after it was spilling down like that?
We did
It would be a good idea, but I would just send off a sample and decide based on the results
Just wonder if you would give consultation willing to pay what you want?
Is that bad for the well pump to have to run continuously since there is no pressure tank?
