Atta boy! A deserved reward for a job well done. A lot of people sadly don't realize a lot of consoles will get a 2nd life if you just open em up and give em some overdue tlc. They just get rid of em like idiots not realizing they're getting rid of something they'll likely never be able to get their hands on again in the future. I did an operation similar to this myself with an old X-Box that a buddy of mine had collecting dust in his closet a few years back. The poor thing was dusty as hell inside, but I cleaned it up and continue to do so like every 4 months or so and the thing still runs like a champ to this day. Treat your consoles EXACTLY how you would that expensive gaming PC and you'll never go wrong. :)

I once did this with a PS4 I got off of ebay Kleinanzeigen (something like craigslist) for around 50 Euros with a controller. Fixed the controller with some silicone and all I had to do with the PS4 was cleaning it out. I had to strip it down to the bare bones, until I had the motherboard in my hands, because the heatsink is kind of hard to reach. The previous owner was a smoker and the dust from those cigarettes had built up inside the rips of the heatsink, it was as if that thing had its own carpet. I removed that dust and replaced the crappy thermal paste Sony used, now the thing runs smothly and silent for hours. The previous owner had opened it up but simply not bothered fixing it right, because the PS4 Pro had just been released, so he decided to get rid of his old one and get a Pro.

Hey speedy im a big fan. I repair these systems alot and just wanted to tell you when taking of the silver rings you dont really have to take off the middle black part. If you see the holes where you can see into the system you will find the silver clips, just put the flathead into the hole behind the silver clip and slightly pry it away from the case that way you take off the whole thing and it stays locked together. And one more thing, there is a easy way to take apart the clip where the xbox void sticker is. The black and white sticker right under that void sticker is a tiny hole alittle bit above the uppercase R on the white strip that lets you push on the clip so that it can come apart easier and faster. I hope this helps the next time you take apart a 360 slim! Have an awsome day

You can access that one clip through a hole underneath that larger sticker. I used a thumb tack and it made it very easy to take that first panel off.

Believe me this man really showed us the way to increase the life span of our consoles what we do is when a console just starts a little bit malfunction we just dump it and that's not the right thing what I'm going to tell u right now is something which you will not believe 3 months earlier I was just taking a walk through a city dump here in PAKISTAN there were alot of broken and damaged electronics like TVs and gaming consoles then I saw something very strange I saw an Xbox 360 Slim and a PS3 in one box I just removed them from box and checked it's seals and condition the seals were still intact the Xbox was with every single wire and even a controller the PS3 had just a controller and nothing else I bought those for 1000Rs in dollars it will be I think around 80 dollars then I came home and checked the both consoles I previously had the wires of PS3 so that wasn't the problem the Xbox was first I fired t up and it started and also it was jtagged with 500 GB HDD but after and hour it started to give overheating warning I checked the fan and it was working so I opened up the whole system and there was like beds of dust every where so I cleaned it I also fixed the controller and till today this Xbox is working just awesome with 30 games installed in it and about the PS3 it boots up and everything but it's lense is damaged so it is useless for me but still I have it cuz I have another PS3 and this PS3 can be used for parts it's hard-drive was 320 GB and also I got a COD MW3 from it 😄😄😄😄so still I go to that dump searching for more stuff like that

Where can I find a cheap power brick for this thing? I've been looking for a while and can't find anything cheaper than 40 dollars.
Still have my xbox 360 slim I got for Christmas back in 2012. It was my main system until I bought a ps4 on release day. After buying more games for the ps4 my 360 had just been collecting dust. Recently bought some games at my local retro gaming store to get the 360 going again. I wanted to watch this video because I want to open mine and clean it out. It's never been open so I wanted to see how hard it would be to do so. Plan on applying fresh thermal paste and giving it a good cleaning.

You can also replace the thermal conpound of the chip below the heatsink and fan so that its better heat wise.just use pc thermal compound like artic grizzly or conductonaut
