It's a technical piece. Intended for mountaineering, climbing, hiking etc. The hood adjuster is amazing for those who have use for it. It's not really intended to lay around in bed and lie on your back. You can also shop sales to find better prices.
You used a tide pod on it?... It specifically tells you to use a mild detergent and no softener. No wonder if gets residue on the surface from it. If you want ti to last as long as you hope I seriously recommend you stop using pods. It will eat away at the facefabric and destroy the insulating properties of the synthetic fibers inside.
Henning Nilsen To add to your comment using the tide pods will also ruin the DWR finish that repels the rain. I definitely recommend using a tech wash detergent
Two arguments: 30 is not insanely cold and the coat, specifically the the fleece sides, are not windproof at all and this jacket is terribly chilly when it is cold and windy and used as the top layer. It is a great jacket though.
Good review. You are young, enthusiastic....with a sense of humor. That will serve you well through what I wish for you: a long and healthy life. You are right -- in your Number 1 gripe. Arcteryx is expen$ive “$tuff”....sometimes to the point of inanity. That said....it is high quality. I must own 8 or 9 pieces of various “A-gear”. Each and every piece has performed as advertised....and looks good doing it. But if there is a bit of wisdom to pass on to you (and all) that I, as a 65 year old retired Navy Officer and a retired federal wildlife officer, who now has the luxury of spending all my spare time backpacking, hiking, bikepacking, fly fishing, etc.....it is this: except in a dire emergency, never, ever, ever, NEVER pay full retail for name brand outdoor gear and clothing. Buy off season / end of season. I admit that color and sizes are sometimes limited.....but I just picked up my second Atom LT......for $155. Still, you produced an easily watched, entertaining video, amigo. Move forward, just try not to needlessly make others wealthy doing it! Second star to the right......!
Honestly the price of this jacket is completely justified, the quality and how it deals with heat by constantly keeping you at a comfortable temperature whether its freezing or mild outside blows me away. I paid £160 on sale ($211) and I'd pay £250 ($330) for this if I had to. Definitely going to be buying more Arc'teryx products the money they charge is justified throughout the different pieces. ANY UPDATE 3+ YEARS ON?
ALso bought mine recently in the UK. Any suggestions of what pieces that complement it /worthwhile next? Atom is versatile as using it as an outerlayer everyday but could be used as a midlayer...
I got the idea, 11m, that I fast forwarded and done within 3 minutes. Would've been preferable to have been more to the point. Remembering that softener's job is to 'tame' materials will ultimately break materials down. Great for cottons (though not towels as affect water absorbance), not for much else. No good for waterproof/resistant/DWR materials, fleeces nor any tech layers as it will destroy them all fast. Thanks for the thoughts.
Haha. Try 350.00! I just got mine today and ya, had a little buyer's remorse walking out of REI, but once I got home and had a chance to try it out I realized I had something special. Mine is the MX version which is why it's a hundred bucks more but the design is even better I think. It's a sleek great looking jacket too. I'm thrilled I bought it.

Hugely informative. Have you the Atom SL?

Thanks for this comment sir
Thanks! made me buy one :D LT and black!
Shape of the hood also allows for a helmet. Again, this is a climbing/technical jacket.
When you roll up the sleeves, did/do you stretch out the arms?

99Boulders Thank you.
this guy is cool
Comes in nice colors, but it's a very high maintenance product. Stains incredibly easily and cleaning it is either impossible or very tedious.

What is the MX version?
Sherikan Niyaziev he’s talking about the gamma MX which is completely different from the atom LT it’s not even a midlayer it’s a soft shell
