I love Christmas decorations, but I also love the freshness of January when everything is put away again. It makes me feel better and gives me a more positive mindset to get through the rest of winter.
The ribbon is gorgeous!!! And in the fall you could reverse the orange to the front and the blue as the accent. Adding that small little orange ginger jar is the unexpected pop that makes your vignette interesting. Also , your cat must be very well behaved with all those real candles! It makes the whole space feel so cozy and warm. What a lovely home to be in during the rainey , dark days of winter. I love a little nest! Your view into the study is so charming. The gorgeous lines of the chair and that amazing brass lamp with the black shade!!! Oh my goodness. I want to sit in there with a good book and a cup of something warm in a beautiful cup!!!! Thank you for starting my day like a big hug!
I really enjoy when a piece of China/pottery, ribbon or a rug can inspire us to try another color palette, even if only a short time. I smiled when you were showing the China cabinet display and you said you left a piece because you were not ready to move on. We are finally ready to take down the Christmas village on the sideboard and move on! Your poinsettias still look lovely and the addition of greenery brings life and calm (at the same time for me) to your rooms. Looking forward to hearing what perennials you will add this year. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Thank you for taking the time to share your January decorations. I didn't realize that aucuba plant would stay green inside in the winter. I think I'll give that a try to add something "alive." I also appreciate that you teach us to have fun decorating on a budget. Have a nice day.
I also like your little nativity with the cross. And the hummingbird in your corner cabinet - the beautiful frame caught my eye, but the whole piece looks very interesting! This was very enjoyable. :)
Just discovered your channel and now I am binge watching all your previous videos. Love your home and how you’ve decorated it! Thank you for sharing! 😊
You have a true gift as a decorator. I love all the blue pieces and especially love your description of all the points in each room. May I ask the color and brand of paint. It appears to be yellow and is a beautiful backdrop for all your items.
Yellow is tricky. My color is Sherwin Williams Blonde. Don't be deceived by a picture - it is a VERY sassy, opinionated yellow and argues with most colors. It has brown and green undertones but just happens to work for me. Watch my video on choosing paint (Happily Ever After Paint Choices) and definitely paint samples on the wall before you commit. I had what I would call a "sunny and pretty" yellow in my breakfast room at my last house. Completely different color than this one. It was a Benjamin Moore - sorry I don't remember the name. Good luck!
Orange and blue are opposite on the color wheel. The University of Florida uses that combination. I have many pieces of blue and white crockery, orange depression goblets, blue depression goblets. I would love blue and orange ribbon! How fortunate!
I have a Poinsettia from last year that re-bloomed this year! I've never had that happen before. It doesn't seem right to throw out living plants! Now I'm curious to see how much longer it will last.
Oh wow! I have had them rebloom when I kept them in the dark from 5PM to 8 AM (the closet in the guest room, opening and shutting the door). Had to start in Sept to have blooms for Christmas. My survived until I moved across the country.
A warm & cozy home. Love all the blue & white accents. China saucers also make lovely soap dishes for your bathrooms. Btw, poinsettias are poisonous to cats.
Yes of course! LAFULIT, Under Cabinet Lighting, Model: 4M8NW212X. It plugs in and has a remote. Found it on Amazon. I have had it for a couple of years and really like it. I talked about how I installed it on one of my old videos (can't remember which one). Hope that helps.
@@Jburns1212 I purchased it off the floor several years ago. I don't see anything like it online, but is January the month they bring in all the furniture? It was around $900, and they usually have something similar when they bring in all the furniture.
You have beautiful thrifted items. Your home is lovely. If you ever decide to move to a new house, will you take all your thrifted items with you to use in the new place, or would you start over and buy new thrift store items?
There is another skating gentleman pictured in very similar colors to the picture you have. It’s called Reverend Robert Walker skating on duddingston loch / the skating minister. I have a copy of it , because I love so much. Bought it on the internet 😊
I thought of getting glycerin and CVS said they didn’t have any glycerin. Target had glycerin suppositories for constipation…. I will try Michael’s tomorrow.
Hahaha we did the exact same tour in Venice and brought back pieces of hand blown pieces too….That area on the bottom of pieces that are hand blown are call3d “pontil “….spelling might be off. Your front door opens right into your living room with no foyer…surprising
I had forgotten that word! You might enjoy watching one of my first videos ("Creating Our Dream Cottage') that shows how the house evolved and why the front door opens right into the LR.
Over the last 3 or so years, I have started loving blue and white. I've left my faux candles on my window sills, which gives off a cozy look. With that said, your home looks so cozy and comfy.
I always enjoy visiting your beautiful, cozy cottage! ❤
Thank you! 😊
I love the orange touches in your decor. It reminds me of my Momma.
I noticed you have birds all over your home. I do too! I love bird decor! If His eye is on the sparrow, then I know He watches me!
And you didn't even see all the bird decor I have! One of my favorite things.
You are such an artist. You take family treasures and thrift store finds and turn them into magical displays.
Thank you!

You always make the sweetest comments, Liane. Kirby loves water and wire, not flames. He is a very strange cat.
this is the visual info I have been searching for🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
What a sweet comment!
Your home is so lovely. I enjoy watching your videos so much! Love the blue and orange! Cozy, relaxed, curated, classy, with a fanciful sass.❤❤❤

Thank you so much! The hummingbird is a greeting card from a company called NIQUEA.D, that sells on Amazon. Beautiful paper art.

You can do it!

Thank you so much! The paint color in my house is Blonde By Sherwin Williams. It is a very warm yellow, more like a gold.
Such beautiful home
Thank you for your sweet comment!
So cozy! 💙
Cozy is just what we need on a cold January day!
Beautiful rug, from your mother!
Thank you! 😊
I do enjoy your cottage.
How fresh for the new year!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Your home is lovely. Can you tell me the pretty yellow paint color you have on your walls? Yellow can be tricky but yours is very sunny and pretty.

I am definitely enjoying the color combo.
I do the same thing with my Cup and Sorcerer, Love your videos

You are so welcome.
I love your beautiful home…would you share the yellow color where your armoire is please
Sherwin Williams Blonde
I have a sweet little collection of demitasse saucers. I use them for holding a wet tea bag. I don't mind at all that they don't match.
Great tip!
A warm & cozy home. Love all the blue & white accents. China saucers also make lovely soap dishes for your bathrooms. Btw, poinsettias are poisonous to cats.
I have used them for soap dishes before too! Kirby is only interested in water and wire. He is a strange cat.
Your grandmothers China is fantastically beautiful ❤
Just discovered your channel. So beautiful. Can you share what lighting you have in your China cabinet? Thank you!

I would love to know the paint color of your yellow walls. I love them.
Sherwin Williams Blonde. It works beautifully in this house, but be careful - it has some serious brown and green undertones. Do a sample first!
Beautiful design ..where did you purchase dining table and chairs?
Costco! And I have been very happy with it.

I am genetically predisposed to never get rid of anything! Fortunately, I have 4 children and 9 grandchildren that all have the same gene.

I’ve just found you, what a beautiful house, what part of America do you live in? I will subscribe xx
I live in Arlington, VA, the D.C. region.
I thought of getting glycerin and CVS said they didn’t have any glycerin. Target had glycerin suppositories for constipation…. I will try Michael’s tomorrow.
How funny! I did not have the best results with the food grade I bought at Michael's. Let me know what you do and the results.
