I recently got 2 lamps from goodwill and made them over. I just painted the base gold and covered the lampshades with material to match my decor. They weren't exact matches for each other, but since they were going on nightstands, they just needed to be close. And the really perfect thing is they both had a drawstring switch, which is what I was really looking for. I spent like $18 total to make over 2 lamps!! ❤❤
I have to rant. Went to a Goodwill about an hour away from my house. They had dollar tree products for $3. I was absolutely blown away with their outrageous prices. As always. Awesome video Whit.

The thing I like most about spring is the return of the hummingbirds. We always put out two feeders and watching the little birds always makes me smile! 🥰

I always look forward to your videos because I love them so very much. You never disappoint. I have to admit, I usually skip these kinds of videos unless my favorite creators put them out. Even then I tend to either like and fast forward straight through or skim watch. This is only because having grown up poor I have been thrifting, bargain shopping, trash day nabbing, garage/yard/rummage sale shopping, curb side finding, auction going and so on since I was a very little girl. I am grateful for all that I learned from my family members in that regard. I have to say I have seen so many videos about thrifting now but I feel like yours covered so much and it really kept my interest. It was packed full of great information. I like spring because I can now wall outside and for all the colors. Being in Nebraska we can't plant til May so when things bloom I am more appreciative because we don't have a lot of months to enjoy it. You gave a lot of suggestions and ideas. Thanks for all you do!!
I have been a thrifter my entire life. More than the first half out of necessity. The second half and counting because knowing how much the most expensive local thrift store charges in comparison to even dollar general and target makes it a no brainer. All of your tips are valid and you present them in an appealing way. 😊 The only thing that I would add is always check places in the store that are good hiding places. Employees hide stuff for someone else to come purchase . Especially if the store prohibits them from shopping there on days that they work. Customers often hide things with certain colored tags and come back to purchase on the day that color is discounted the most. Clothing hanging on circular racks, along the walls or in aisles back to back and close together make good hiding spots. Inside containers and boxes, that are not popular or searched for (who can resist a reasonably priced picnic basket?)on the tip top shelf are good places. Nooks and crannies that have things like a mirror or standalone bookcase partially in front of them never fail to have a fantastic score. Sometimes things are hidden in plain sight such as in the middle of an aisle that has mostly unwanted items like random photo albums or dusty glasses and common cases that you see in a quick glance as you are walking by. If you actually go down the aisle and pay attention you will see things that kind of blend in behind and next to the boring things. Bonus tips: (1) if the item you are considering has a tag with a color not shown on the board advertising discounts it might be taken from your cart when your back is turned. (2) no matter how In expensive something is if you do not know what purpose it will serve when you purchased it 95% of the time it will become wasted money. You kind of mentioned this. It’s a lesson that takes a lot of people a long time to learn and some people never learn. Thinking things like so and do might want this and I can find a use for this and even worse this is too good of a bargain to not buy usually end with that item collecting dust at your house, being re-donated or thrown away. If you buy something like that once a week because it’s only $5 in a couple of years that’s rent, a car note or a mini vacation. Happy thrifting !

Spring is my favorite season, I look forward every year to all the new birth, flowers, trees, animals. Living in Central Michigan on 43 acres of woods we have quite a few critters running around our home. My most exciting thing is seeing the new fawns, love when they get the zoomies! 😂

This was SO much fun and SO VERY timely! I'll be 66 this Saturday 🎉 and I'm moving from the southern California desert to northwest Indiana in a couple months and I'm totally starting over!! I'm only taking the things that I totally love and everything else will be replaced. The thrift stores back there are absolutely 🤯 mind blowing!! Thrift stores are usually much cheaper. Both stores are definitely different. Location is key. You are right. That jug was cool!! The baskets are good and even better when painted. I love thrift stores you can find really cool things. And the furniture you can get is sooooo beautiful. Beautiful solid wood at a very, very low price.
I enjoy your videos so much. You are so talented and down to earth. I learn so much from you. What I look forward to spring the most is the weather getting warm enough for me to sit on my front porch in the sun with some iced tea or lemonade and look at all the new freshness of grass, trees, my flowers and smell the lilacs in the front yard. My mom passed away in Nov. She was well known in the community for her baking skills. I thrifted her house & thrift stores for picture frames, cooking items. So many people commented on how loveky the display tables were. Thabks for the ideas! 😊

Thrifting is one of my favorite things to do!! I have found some amazing treasures and I love to upcycle things! These were great tips and you are absolutely correct when you say that it takes some practice to see the potential in some things!! LOL. I am fortunate to live in a place with 4 seasons so my favorite part of coming out of winter into spring is the warmer temperatures, the blooming flowers, the birds, and being able to do some of my outdoor crafting 🙂

I love your reminder to donate to a local organization! I hate donating to Goodwill just so they can make money and their prices are so high for a person in need to go there. I have found a local charity that lets people in need just go in and get what they need, without paying anything!!!
My husband and I used to volunteer at a church that had a free clothing ministry in their basement. It felt so good to help people find what they needed for their family. Or to direct a fire victim to the church to help them replace clothing for their family. Ruth
I was given a tour of a goodwill warehouse years ago. Some of the work they’re doing is incredible. It isn’t just about inexpensive home goods. Most of their employees are disadvantaged or disabled. The facility had a mechanics garage in the back who would perform free services on employee vehicles like oil changes and tire rotations so these employees could have reliable transportation. Just one example that truly impressed me. There were over 100 workers in that facility whose needs were all taken into account. In rural Pennsylvania, these opportunities just don’t exist anywhere else locally.

what I'm most looking forward to for Spring is when the days get longer and warmer . I have a 1 year old German Shepard that loves bringing lots of mud inside. We had a shop built this last summer and fall and the ground was still dug up when fall/winter hit. So we had tons of mud all winter long.

I love your reminder to donate to a local organization! I hate donating to Goodwill just so they can make money and their prices are so high for a person in need to go there. I have found a local charity that lets people in need just go in and get what they need, without paying anything!!!
Not to mention the abysmal rate GoodWill pays employees. Totally agree 💯 %

My husband and I used to volunteer at a church that had a free clothing ministry in their basement. It felt so good to help people find what they needed for their family. Or to direct a fire victim to the church to help them replace clothing for their family. Ruth
I was given a tour of a goodwill warehouse years ago. Some of the work they’re doing is incredible. It isn’t just about inexpensive home goods. Most of their employees are disadvantaged or disabled. The facility had a mechanics garage in the back who would perform free services on employee vehicles like oil changes and tire rotations so these employees could have reliable transportation. Just one example that truly impressed me. There were over 100 workers in that facility whose needs were all taken into account. In rural Pennsylvania, these opportunities just don’t exist anywhere else locally.

what I'm most looking forward to for Spring is when the days get longer and warmer . I have a 1 year old German Shepard that loves bringing lots of mud inside. We had a shop built this last summer and fall and the ground was still dug up when fall/winter hit. So we had tons of mud all winter long.

Thanks for the thrifting tips. The thing I'm most looking forward to is for everything to bloom so my allergies will settle down and I will be able to go out to and enjoy Spring without sneezing alot. Also looking forward to getting my hummingbird feeders out.

I love thrift stores and sell my finds on eBay for extra cash to buy craft supplies. We always donate extra stuff and even save some for our church thrift sale.
