The Bible correctly teaches salvation of a greater understanding than the Church. In addressing the children of this era Jesus tells us that a person has several opportunities to be reborn and that a time will come when he *cannot die anymore* this is the real meaning of the *End of the world* thereafter the soul must leave the body as a celestial child, then be *accounted* that means judged. So no one is judged until the secondary salvation of reincarnation is exhausted. This is the end of the First Day.
A successful outcome of judgement means that the soul becomes a citizen of Paradise this aeon lasts a thousand years. This is the End of the Second Day. After which the celestial children are resurrected putting on glorious bodies and ascending to a higher heaven, this means that this aeon has released the first century followers of Christ, Mary and all the saints. This is the beginning of the Third Day.
Resurrections are always taking place and have always taken place.
_ And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage; 35 but those who are accounted worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, 36 *for they cannot die any more, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God* being sons of the resurrection. 37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. 38 Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him.”_

“Above all, be at ease, be as natural and spacious as possible. Slip quietly out of the noose of your habitual anxious self, release all grasping, and relax into your true nature. Think of your ordinary emotional, thought-ridden self as a block of ice or a slab of butter left out in the sun. If you are feeling hard and cold, let this aggression melt away in the sunlight of your meditation. Let peace work on you and enable you to gather your scattered mind into the mindfulness of Calm Abiding, and awaken in you the awareness and insight of Clear Seeing. And you will find all your negativity disarmed, your aggression dissolved, and your confusion evaporating slowly like mist into the vast and stainless sky of your absolute nature.”

I wonder why episode 2 is about the Cathars, rather than some of the many groups in between the 4th and 12th centuries, such as the Bogomils and Paulicians who may have influenced the Cathars, or the Mandaean Sabians who seem to have existed continuously from the time of John the Baptist to our own time. The order of episodes appears unstructured... Still, the interviews are great, and the commentary is accurate, if not particularly inspired. A bit ironic, given the ideas that the documentary is about.

It's only because the Cathars were anti-establishment and martyred that they get this odd attention. First, they were not Gnostics, that is, they did not hold that salvation came thru gnosis. They were simply radical dualists who thought the material world was evil trash created by Satan, the sex was gross and it was better to die than to bring children into Satan's prison. If they were alive now, they'd be condemned as an insane cult.

      Bad thinking.
Any deity failing to be acknowledged by everyone is fudging the god title a tad bit.
We vote for leaders so we can avoid leadership suggesting we travel best with one foot in some Christian fantasyland.
      Come, let us worship Jesus.
Let us all forget it was secular law & order ending the inquisitions & witch-killings.
Let us forget we have a saying: God helps those helping themselves, because gods have a perfect record of doing nothing.
Let us ignore nothing fails like prayer in a children's hospital.
Let us ignore a wicked generation seeks signs.
A deity unable to be acknowledged by everyone is a forgery based on literature.
Oppression builds character among the dominated.
Who do you think nailed the king of the Jews, when Imperial Rome controlled temples & publications?
Just for the fun of it, have their Messiah say render to Caesar?
      My sheep hear my voice.
Think not I come with peace, but sword.
The literate of the age; built religions & made propaganda, devalued the currency, too.
Marvel not I say you are all gods, and so on & so on.
Faith is a fantasyland term, & the Christians hate to hear it.
If faith had any value, then you could move mountains by voice-command.
We know there is no god outside of fiction.
Freud wrote the antidote to Christianity is literacy.
The Christians slapped their books on the Old Testament, & the Mormons glued theirs on to them both, thus proving Christians lack quality-control.
Think not I come with peace, but sword.
I come to divide this that and the other thing, & I give you tax exempt status.

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
      16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

If you are able to master the words of Jesus in the biblical canon then perhaps you can play with fire. So far only one man has mastered those words. The one that spoke them.
If you want to get close to God receive His gift. Chose the path to God, the new life that is clear and ask for His Holy Spirit and become a disciple. It is a lifetime of travel toward God. Never be defeated. He said to share His gospel, feed His sheep, fellowship with other believers, bear His cross. Sounds difficult, but His yoke is easy. Pray. He will never let you down. That doesn’t mean you won’t have some difficult times. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

@@mariussielcken Don't be so bloody ridiculous. In YOUR opinion it has Nordic features; In my opinion, it has Semetic features. But never mind, useless subjectivity - look at the facts. There are hundreds of facts that link the shroud to 1st century AD Palestine ; the herringbone weave of the cloth is unique to this area at this time. It was not produced in Europe; the cloth is covered in pollen from Palestine from plants whichare rare but do not exist there anymore. There are features on the cloth about which Medieval Europeans would have been unaware, and things have been detected under a microscope which cannot be seen by the naked eye, like coins on the eyelid, a buriel practice by the Jews of the time. The coins were leptons - Roman coins, produced by the occupiers of the time and the currency of the day in Palestine - are you going to tell us that a Medieval forger would have even known about these things, let alone go to the trouble of creating forgeries which nobody can see or understand, anyway ?
The image is of the face of a 1st century Palestine Jew. It clearly isn't the face of a sub-saharan African, but that doesn't make it a 'Nordic' face either. Get that chip off your shoulder.
As for the claim it from Medieval France, it was brought back from Palestine by the Crusaders , along with many other artifacts. That's where it went on display until sent to Turin. But I have already explained that it originated in 1st Century Palestine. There is other evidence to support this. Do some proper research.

It is always to see this film again. My main criticism of Quispelle, Jonas, Chrton and even Pagels, is that they do not give Orthodoxy is due. Quispelle offer quick soundbite distintion of the soteriological difference between the Gnostic and the Othrodox but is not that simple. They do not really outline St Athinasisus condmened the so the Gnostic Gospels, or rather the praxis that produced them. Live your own gospel write your own myth, is extremely attractive to post-modern ears, but it does truly help us to have true insight in the struggles christianity was facing by the 4th and 5th century. The Orthodox Church taught and teaches Theosis as a means of salvation, which is aquired through gnosis, Athanasius and the church disavow not gnosis, merely sought to contain it within bounds of the church and according the true Gospel which was foundation of faith. Gnosis and Theosis both require an inner moral change in the formation of the human pysche, true knowledge of the sould, moving ever closer to oneness with God. The Orthodox recognise there was a danger of diluting the teaching the Gnostic praxis, this is why it was heresey. Whether to day we still beleive thatr is the case is up to each individual. Jung certainly beleived there are other paths we can follow and that the Orthodox well had run dry for many seekers. However, there are now many who return to Orthodoxy, having siught on path of gnosis but finding lacking in struture and disipline which is what the Church always offered. Theosis is the Eye of the Heart, Gnosis knowledge of the heart.

I find that when I have been in need I have turned to God asking for His help and he has never not answered. As I listen to this program man has a way of complicating things. It’s very simple whether you believe it or not the fact is that God The father and Jesus his son and Mary the holy Mother are there and they do listen, only when we think you don’t need anything is the wrong way of thinking. In my life I have experienced four instances where help was given to me and they were so miraculous that it is impossible to deny them. One of these instances was when my husband had an encounter with Jesus and He told him that he had to be ready, he told me this two days before his death and the miracle was that he was suffering from cancer which had spread to his brain and the doctor said that his brain looked a Swiss cheese, full of holes and yet he suffered no pain. I have seen people dying and it takes about three days before the complete separation from the body occurs, my husband’s death was instantly, two minutes before he looked up towards the ceiling and he said, please not yet and then he was gone. God’s love is infinite and HE IS REAL.

The interesting thing is the Gnosistics say there’s divine deep inside you. And the blame God for the depravity of the world not saying the humans that manage the world or their world are not responsible. Most of the bad things happening are due to men being selfish, greedy, and envious. These are usually the people that are in rulership but still everyday people can be the same most people don’t want to share n help their fellow man because they’re too busy trying to get or keep theirs. But the Gospel doesn’t teach any of that that’s why it’s so different it’s anti- worldliness. It’s about bringing Glory to God and preparing for Gods kingdom. All these teachings are self centered n push God out of the picture. This is the eating of the tree of good n evil. Now you want to have or achieve your own kingdom so you think knowledge of it self will help you be enlightened but on the contrary it will make you prideful arrogant, selfish, and an elitist. The holy Spirit n the knowledge of who God is n who you are truly as a human from birth born into a singular world from a sinner is the truth. There is no divinity in you because if there was you'd get other with other divine being in correct this problem on earth n you can't. You can only correct yourself by understanding the only way is through honesty, repentance to salvation so God through his son can provide you with salvation for your soul n spirit there is no other way. John 14:6

The Gnostics were nothing like "the first modern philosophers": they were ordinary main stream Middle Platonics adapting the Jewish text to the Platonic "science of the day." They were probably middle class Hellenized Jews that tried to "modernize" Judaism to conventional thinking. For this they were disenfranchized by Hebrew speaking Jews, and then emerged the Gnostics, the so called "Minim".
