As an Iranian I was disappointed how little my people know about India.
The relationship between Iran and India is older than history.
Patanjali , Maharishi Mahesh Yogi , Iyengar , Sitar , Ravi Shankar , Nehro , Vedic literature, Bhagvad Gita,
Biggest democracy in the world .
These are some of what I know from India.
Iran was the first country that recognized India's independence.
The first time Upanishads were translated, they were translated to Persian. The first Persian dictionary was organized by Indians.
Sanskrit and Avestan (old Persian) are very close.
Our languages are actually from the same origin.
And so much more . . .
Iranians know more about India than Indians know about Iran.
I am an Indian, I had an Iranian friend in my University, his name is Paya. Many Iranians live in the city of Pune.
I regularly listen to Kourosh Yaghmaei. I have read Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. I would one day, love to visit Iran, for the amazing food.

Indian culture is entirely based on family values exactly like Iran, I have visited Tehran in 2017 for 5 days, I was shocked to see beauty of Tehran, even people are so friendly. I have visited King's palace for one day, your heritage is also so rich, Iranian beauties are wonderful. One of my friend from Israel complained me, I should not visit Iran, but she does not know anything about Iran.
You know the best part about 5500 years ago indian kings had war amongst each other the way king from the industry valley won that battle and due to rivalry
Indian and Iranian got seprated we were same due to kings the people of a land got seprated that's why sanskrit and old Persian had so much in common that war is das rajyam means the war of 10 kings

I can understand why they find our movies dramatic. Persian cinema is realistic and slice of life, the set, situations, expressions etc are what a common person can relate to that's why they find Indian cinema so larger than life dramatic and superficial.

Similarly your idea about Bollywood should not be just based on the larger than life rom coms. It should also be based on outstanding Bollywood movies like Ship of Theseus, A Wednesday, Ugly, Sarkar, Deewaar, Satya, Kaun, Tumbbad, as well as great regional movies like Pather Panchali, Nayak, Nayagan, Lucia, Drishyam, Ratsasan, etc.

@@dss6838 I know that marathi has many persian words in its vocabulary but the standard marathi spoken and written today uses only a small fragment of the Persian words that werr used in the marathi spoken during the rule of the Deccan sultans.It is said that Persian words dominated the marathi vocabulary during the rule of the Deccan sultans.but due to the efforts of Chatrapati shivaji maharaj and sri veer savarkar most of the Persian and Arabic words were replaced by there marathi and sanskrit equivalents.
Iran's original culture of Zoroastrianism is gone more or less. They live in india. And culturally India is some 5000 year old civilization.

To be fair, we have this conception because this is what Parsi's (Zoroastrians that fled Iran with the arrival of Islam) told us way back when and continue to say. As an Indian, i have always found Iranian cuisine and hospitality amazing. And persian language is like a distant dream, i catch a lot of words because of my familiarity with Urdu, and yet the language eludes me. Maybe one day I'll get to learn it and visit the country.

@Jinga Randy Those Dark Skinned South Indians and Bengalis have more of the genes of the native compared to the fair skinned north Indians who look very similar to these Iranian/Persians. South Indians have managed to remain their ancient idendity, where its languages were the Native Indian language prior to foreign Aryan mixture of language, gene and religion.

Persian used to be a very common language in India before 1947. I think Iranians would be happy and shocked to know how many beautiful similarities there are between Iran and India: saffron-infused foods, musical instruments, literature/poetry, vocabulary, and so much more!

Rest alll are filled with untalented cast, terrible direction, ear raping songs and corny ass sense of humour. They also treat talented actors and some magnificent classical singers like shit.

The saying comes from an old story:
The king was obsessed with elephants he belived they are the only remaining of the ancient beasts and he belived there is no other animal like them, in persia there was no elephants people only knew elephants by their descriptions existed in tails, in books and in paintings, so he decided to bring some hundreds of elephants to Persia to show them in the meydana (city centre) so people will see elephants upclose . He sent a caravan of animal keepers (lion & horse keepers) to Hindustan to buy and bring to him 100 elephants. They do so and bring these elephants to the capital (Shiraz) and they display the elephants in the meydan every day but there was a problem, the personel couldn't manage the elephants well they were not Philbanan (elephant masters), so everytime these elephants went crazy and hard to manage the elephant keepers reported to the king, the king was clueless about how to solve this problem so he sayed in return "well, its all fine! the elephants just longing for Hindustan" every time.
In persian whenever a persone do something stupid or difficult and later he has to pay for it in some other ways, the others tell him "phil et yad e Hendustan kard he?" meaning "does your elephant longing for hindustan now?" Meaning you did something without overthinking its outcome and now you don’t know how to fix it.

As an Iranian who have lived abroad and met many Indians and had an Indian roommate at some point this is my opinion.
Positive Aspects:
1. They are very nice and friendly. Even much friendlier than Iranians in general. As the general rule that the more we move towards the south people get friendlier. They love Iranians a lot and we love them also in return.
2. They are soon going to be the world super power specially in IT. Their economy is improving
3. Very beautiful Architecture
4. They are very happy people they dance a lot even for their religious ceremonies they have special dances (Hindu religion) They wear colorful clothes even when their close people die they wear white not black.
5. Hindi,Urdu, Sanskrit and other Indo-European languages spoken in India share a lot of similarities with Persian especially Urdu which has the most similarity.
6. Despit being a multi religion and multi ethnicity country they seem to get along with each other well ( or at least this is what I think)
7. They have wisdom in so many aspects. They are the inventors of meditation. They know a lot about some medical herbs and stuff like Iranians do and so on.
8. The movies are nice I haven't watched a lot but I have watched kuch kuch hota hai like 40 times lol. They are very good in emotional aspects but they also get very unrealistic and even dumb in some cases.
Negative Aspects
1. The majority don't maintain hygiene as much as Iranians. Living with an Indian and having been to many of their houses. Also I see videos of the gang river that they do prettty much anything inside it and then they also take a bath in it etc.
2. The most negative aspect is the caste system. Briefly explained the society is comprised of number of classes that each had their own job throughout the history these classes are not allowed to Marry each other for example or even touch one group which are called the untouchables. This is the most shocking thing from India for me hopefully it is not a law anymore but it is still common among more traditional people.
3. They think inferior about themselves they think that having a darker skin is very bad and they try to brighten their skin.
4. I don't like some rules about Hindu religion for example women can't marry again after divorce or death of their husband ( I'm not a follower of Islam either I think it sucks as well) there are also other superstitious things which I'm not sure if it is derived from the religion or people.
5. They are very westernized or better to say britainized ( I know that's not a word lol) . They use English to communicate with each other from different ethnicities and English is even the official language of some states. Which I think considering what the British have done to their country in the past is very bad.
