When I was very little my granny used to take me to Morrisons with her. This thing scared the crap out of me, and I was terrified of us still being in the shop on the hour when it came to life. It's great to be able to watch this now as a grown woman and realise... nope, I was not being at all dramatic, it is exactly as horrifying as I remember and I was completely justified in being so afraid of it!
I heard from my daughter that it is being dismantled today. Morrisons are relocating to a new store in the town and the old arcade is being refurbished. I do hope they are taking it with them, rather than scrapping it - even though my children used to be terrified of it, 25 years ago! It’s still iconic and worth preserving.

I always used to love watching this clock when I was a small child. It's great that years later it's still there and working.
