      Aaron 🔥🔥🔥🔥👨‍💻
      Wonderful dedactic lecture
"Dopa max!” Oh my! I had no idea! 🧐
(It’s also sadly the only med that works for my tremors
I can also say since u have been my dr I take 75% less of all my meds thx you.
      But,
I can say I’m there on the word finding thing, after all
Who forgets the name of doctor boster, pre u tube during an attack but still I forgot!
      Second,
Does marijuana count as a medicine ? I get it’s not technically a pill but it can be in some forms,
just wondering about if u would talk about that too in a live stream or something.
      Sincerely,
      Cynthia camille

Great video! Thanks for going over these medications. I’m only on one of those and want to come off. I’ll be discussing this with my neurologist next month about it. ☺️🧡

    Cynthia here ,
    Aaron,
Juat 2 add 2 your amazing 👏 video,
I Wanted to give a little experience on this one.i hope u don't mind dr b if I share these experiences, from me working in pharmacy, to my own experience, to a family member from being on these meds for 20plus years..being tappered... it's on going, and wow!
    "Benzos"
    Benzodiazipines
(Dr. B wonderful job on your video btw! )
    History of patient.
    Physiological/physicial
    What's there risk factors?
    1. Mixing these meds with any med. Can be risky, always consult ur doctor, be specificly careful with opioid medications, alcohol, I'd like to ask Aaron the risk of cog fog with pot! Also even during a taper, but ssri, antidepression meds, alot of neurological symptom perscribed meds as a generalization I'll say..
    Fall risks can be likely!
like dr. B is talking about,
    age,
    mental status &
the Dementia risk is real. !!!
    Experience-
~A family member of mine was on this drug for over 20 years & is falling often, & she acts alot like a dementia patient now.
I my self was also on this med tempararly in a nursing home setting due to excruciating jaw pain..i orginally belived it was due to my m.s. but it could be csncer bone pain, anyhow I fell out of my wheel chair twice and cracked my head opened...
    P.s.
    I went off this med.
But sadly I would not have changed the med at the time the pain was insane.
    Tampering benzos"
-The taper, the very long taper!
If a patient is on. This drug it can be very scary tapper, sometimes a hospital setting is even necessary.
    Increased symptoms 😢! (During w/d)s
The anxiety and the depression that a patient could have been feeling before taking this med (or to rephrase the symptoms for being perscribed these meds like anxiety, depression ect...)would be slim in comparison, or a understatement when we're considering the anxiety that is felt as to a withdrawl symptom. Also depression can be felt theres such a long list of symptoms .
Complications in tampering 🐌 slowly/A E.R. or hospital setting can be a possible option...
-Even with taking away half of the med @ first and the slowly taking away 25% of med over time I mean very very slowly,it can still be very hard
Sometimes a lesser poency benzodiazipine is necessary at the end of tapper, even if it's just tempery.
There's so much to consider when trying to come off these meds. A doctor must be consulted preferred to be the prescribing dr, and when symptoms get dangerous a hospital taper is necessary at times. As im saying..
As Dr. B said Never go. off these meds cold turkey it's very very dangerous.
I hope my experiences I've shared could maybe help some person out there.
Of course im just a boring patient whom used to work pharmacy, and I happened to take this drug class temporarily and it wasent pretty, along with the family member I mentioned.
    God bless you all.
    Sincerely
    Cyn cami

      Thank you !
dr. B for liking my comment
I said an awful lot so I appricate the feedback, but I did forget one thing, not sure how many people actually read comments though since there's so many..
I ment to end my comment with....
"When thinking about benzodiazipine w/d's & this can be true for so many medications 💊 especially opioid medications.
" the longer your on a med the more severe the withdrawal symptoms" &
The more risky w/d's can become
The more I tense w/d' can become
And fuethmore they can in the end seem never ending!
Some patients have wondered why was I on this med to begin with, ? because the withdrawal can be a million times worse than the orginal symptoms.i talked a little about this previously...
It's truely just my intention to share experiences ans my past work experience to help this community and this amazing channel and in the end i hope thats me back up the doctor, our doctor for some of us. And a teacher for many.
Id like to close my comment by reminding you of your super hero like abilities...U must have some magic in your DNA im convinced.
      dr. Aaron boster! Neroimmunologist!
Superb specialist in beautiful multiple scerlosis care.
      Ok. I'll shut up now.
      Thanks again =*)
      Off to the busy day...
      In snowy 🌨 ohio! =)

Excellent video and education. So many are too quick to blame MS for cog issues- but as a MS’r I had cog issues with a few of those meds & have seen cognitive impairments worsen in patients using some of those meds… but it’s funny- not everyone is the same- and these meds work great - if the fit is right for you. … trial & error.

Thank you for this excellent video! I don't currently take any of these meds, but this video is very helpful for if/when I may need one of these types of meds in the future. I did recently discuss topiramate with my neurologist, but declined when she mentioned the potential cog fog and I'm going to try magnesium instead. 🤞

Perfect timing. Omg you have no idea how perfectly timed this video was. Not even for me but for a child family member going through issues with one of these meds. Thank you for reading my mind or listening in on my loud ranting to myself throughout the house about it a few States away! 😂

Very interesting and helpful not least as I'm on at least 3 of the drugs you mention for neuropathy. Yes, they can/do make me drowsy but, at least in my case, I find chronic pain doesn't exactly enhance my cognitive abilities either. My main worry is if they stop working.

Thanks - good info as usual. People should remember that even without these meds cognitive issues can persist. What are your thoughts about using nootropics, notably caffeine and modafinil, to improve or counteract these side effects?
Lastly, if a person can get a thorough neuropsych eval that can be very enlightening and you can work with a neuropsychologist or speech/language pathologist to learn strategies to help.

Finally off all the pain meds (I'm actually having some relief with accupuncture but the pain is still there). Fortunately the only rx I'm on now is Vesicare and it's one that not taking is worse than the side effects.

I have been falling the past several years, but it has gotten worse. I have broke my a year or so back. And, now I am trying to recover from a broke vertebrae and found out I had broke one already. I dnt know that I am having MS. I am going to to discuss more with neurosurgeon next week. Is there specific questions to ask?? I have other issues but now I have fallen 2 more times. At this point I am wondering if my shakiness and involuntary movements is more serious than being clumsy. Thank you ahead of time for any advice. I just found you here and been enjoying your videos Dr. Boster...

    Benadryl and betablockers here !🙋‍♀️
I think the question is.. is cog fog just a side effect or do they cause permanent damage in the long term? I don't have side effect from them now and they work great.. but
I'm 33 and I'll probably be a long term on them due to my dysautonomia, allergies and insomnia

I went to my MS specialist who told me he was 99% sure I had MS. After blood work and more MRIs, I had more lesions and positive labs; he then diagnosed me with MOG (didn’t talk to me about it though).
I’ve never heard if this, and there is nothing online about it except the same paragraph repeatedly. Could you speak on this a little bit? Thank you!

I went to a pain clinic several months ago. They prescribed amitriptyline for me for pain and it didn't help my pain but it definitely made me extremely dizzy. I didn't return to that Dr.. Currently on Ability, it resets my short term memory every 15 minutes but it is better than the alternative phsychosis. I will be starting Prozac soon are you aware of any cognitive side effects of that medication?
