My family went to Paris around the champion league final, they said how there was a big ass line to the bathroom and people were choosing to go to the bushes instead.
It absolutely is, and car ones are even worse. So is the self cleaning toilet. Even worse, it can only handle about 8 people per hour, and only if they take 2.5mins each on average.
The bike parking system is genius. The self cleaning bathroom is cool, but it's so slow and it doesn't get everything every time (I'd assume since I haven't ever been to one).

It locked me up inside, didn't detect me, so it turned off the lights and started spraying the cleaning chemicals... I frantically tried to find the button to open the door without being able to see anything.. Not fun 😅😂
Did IT have a Red illuminated button If yes the Red button is the emergency button If IT did not have a emergency button that would be a crime cause these are known for having issues and some people got seriously injured now a emergency button is mandatory for these toilets

The initial investment is pretty high but the actual cost for a single person use is very cheap since they don't have to pay for labor, just electricity.
They have a toilet like that in San Jose at Cesar Chavez park and during events the line gets sooo long bc of the wait. But I mean, I do appreciate the sanitation.

Paris is not awesome, I live in the French canton of Switzerland, we can drive into france. Paris is the last place I’d pick, it’s filthy, smelly, people are rude(even as a fluent French speaker). The romance of Paris is a lie, most of it looks like the streets of Manhattan. Aka, trash/rubbish adorning the streets, rats the size of dogs, homeless people.
In Australia we have special toilets like this that I assume self clean. They have been around since the turn of the century. They’re always wet so they get very muddy, are a slipping hazard and you have to wipe the toilet dry before use. You press a button to go in and out, wave your hand over a motion sensor to get tiny bits of toilet paper (very annoying to have to keep waving for tiny bits) and when you use the motion sensor to get soap and run the water in the basin, the toilet flushes for you. There’s also a motion sensor hand dryer and it also plays music while you are inside for privacy. They are a little stressful to use because they open automatically after about 10 minutes so that people don’t get stuck inside. You can’t get in if someone is already in there but the toilets face the door and they’re quite large spaces so if the door were to open, you’d be on full display. They’re usually in public areas too. They are usually pretty gross. Full of graffiti and rubbish because kids find them amusing and hang out in them. Not a bad idea I guess but I think regular toilet cubicles are safer and nicer. I wouldn’t want to get stuck in there with a predator as they are sound proof. They are great for people with mobility issues though because they are very large and have automated features. They also usually have a baby change in them. Not having sunlight in there is a little weird though and I prefer regular toilets.
