During my radio days (most of the 90s) when the Gin Blossoms hit with New Miserable Experience, I thought it was just ok. The programmers loved it, the songs tested well and they were heavily requested. I remember when they were headlining we couldn’t get them to come to the radio station in Hamden, Ct. only the biggest and most popular top 40 station in the state. That pissed some of us off because we thought we were the shit. WELL, NOW 30 years later the Gin Blossoms have triumphed with a timeless sound and a greatness that far surpasses most of their 90s peers. These guys rock and deserve continued success. By the way the album is one of my all time favorites.
I am surprised that 'Competition Smile' was never released as a single. It's - imho - a great tune. Just a great interview. Thank you. I am giving you five. ☮
