    I needed this video so much. My 6 kids are now adults although I still have 2 at home that I have to get to college classes, etc.. 2 years ago, I finished 28 years of homeschooling. I have no idea what my talents are, what I have to offer, or really who I am. I'm trying to "find myself" at 53 years old! I should have been doing this 20 or even 30 years ago.

    Love your video! I'm a homeschool mom who's schooling our 17 year old son, our youngest. I've been wrapped up in my kids for so long, and I've loved every minute of it. I thank God every morning for this privilege. But now, I'm feeling the sadness of seeing them all gone from the nest in the next year. I'm trying to focus on "reinventing" myself and finding out who I am. Thank you for your timely message, a word fitly spoken.

    Oh wow, thank you for sharing this video. I was in tears 😭, I’m trying to get back on my feet after, a very dark period of depression, crippling anxiety, living in fear everyday. Trying to find who I am or who I used to be. Thank you for your inspiring videos, I really appreciate them. You have no idea. God bless you...xoxo

    aaahhhh!!! I'm seriously only 4 minutes in and YES!! I can completely understand what you're saying...I have wanted to use a pretty planner but felt, ok... we're just not busy enough for a planner...but we ARE...we're busy being homeschoolers and everything we do IS with purpose...I can just put it into my planner as SUCH...rather than just all the 'busy' stuff that I keep seeing as far as 'laundry' errands etc...that's important but it's not 'purposeful' in terms of my goals.. I am LOVING this video right now THANK YOU!! "glorification of busy" has to GO!!! AWAY!!! xoxoxo I'll be 41 in a few months and have a 4 year old and three teenagers, and you're SO right....this is like a second chance, to do it differently..or correctly...or 'purposefully'

    Hi Jenny- I enjoyed this video so much and it honestly brought me to tears when you were talking about losing yourself to just being a mom. I have 5 children, ages 24 to 4 with the first three being much older than the last two. And, you're right, I have totally lost myself to must being a mom and did a long time ago. And you hit a lot of hot spots, I agree that planning seems have gotten more about pretty pages full with cute stickers and yes, all that's planned that day is watching Game of Thrones? I know they don't have more than that going on, well, I hope so. I'm desperately trying to find myself and feel very lost in that journey, but it's slowly happening. I noticed that we probably live in the same area and oh what I would do to get together with your for a long chat and coffee. It's hard to find someone who relates to having basically two families. We joke that we have Family Version 1.0 and Family Version 2.0. lol But here I am running my 19 yo to UNO for class and then picking my 4 yo up from preschool. Sometimes its very hard to change gears between those huge age differences. Thanks so much for your videos, honest advice and I'm off to download your ebook right now. Take care :-)

      +Jenny Penton I am in NW O up by Elkhorn. :-) Coffee would be so wonderful! I'm in the process of reworking my setup in my Midori to help me use my free pockets of time wisely. Right now I'm so scatterbrained that I feel like I just spin in circles at those times instead of using them to work on my goals of one day selling my art. I guess the good thing is that after all of these years, I finally realized and honoring the fact that yes I have a God-given talent of being creative and I need to be using it. So, that's a start, right? lol

    Love your videos and planner system Jenny! It's differnt, beautiful and focused! But it does leave me unsure how to apply something like this in my life though and I would appreciate your input: I'm almost 47, but have no children. I work fulltime and have a lot of set appointments on weekdays, so I cannot fill in my own days as much. How do you suggest I could still plan the way you do, but keeping track of the (boring) office appointments of every day, including forward planning of meetings and such for future weeks and sometimes even months... Thanks so much for your inspiration, please keep making those videos! Hug from the Netherlands, Audrey x

    Hello!! I just watched all your videos and I have to say I'm in LOVE with your travelers notebook planner system!!! Your words of advice are so motivating and so on point. I just
    purchased a chic sparrow creme brulee in narrow(cant find any moleskine notebook to fit 😕) hard to start journaling all my thoughts at once. I feel lost!!! I'm to concern on how to decorate my pages i get off track of the actual planning. Any advise on what to do first. Do you write every day and then go back and paint or do you write and paint at the same time??? Tks!!! Please post more videos!!!

    Hi Jenny, I always love your videos and am so in love with your beautiful planners... I have a question.... In this video at one point it looked like you had started using 2 pages per day instead of just one per day... did I see that correctly? If you did, can you share why you made the change? Thanks :-)

    • @PlannerPerfect
      @PlannerPerfect  9 лет назад

      Hi Deborah, because I switched over to the narrow TN for my fall plan books I found I needed two pages to plan one day. With the wide plan books I only need one😉I'm so happy you enjoy the videos 😍

    What is your blog?

  • @islandplannergirl3814
    @islandplannergirl3814 8 лет назад

    I think the take home message is: If you have girls, make sure you tell them to go get an education and pursue a career (as well as a family) in order to feel fulfilled. And don't have huge amounts of children (have 1-3 ...3 a real max) or you WILL be an unfulfilled slave to tasks and to raising and caring for babies, then children, then adults.

    • @PlannerPerfect
      @PlannerPerfect  8 лет назад

      No...not at all. I have 8 kids. I think we as mothers need to know who we are outside of our motherhood so we don't lose our identity. I can be a stay at home mom and just having the simple state of mind of knowing who I am, what my talents are and my pursuit of them along side my motherhood can not only fulfill me, but teaches my daughters a good example as well. Feeling lost or unfulfilled comes when we lose our identity, by not fully discovering who we are...

    • @islandplannergirl3814
      @islandplannergirl3814 8 лет назад +1

      +Jenny Penton Lets be honest here. Unless you have a lot of paid help, once you have a certain amount of kids (3+) it's not possible to pursue things that are going to fulfil you as an individual. You are nothing more than a mum and caretaker of others at that point. That's the message I've gleaned in my one year of maternity leave as I watch stay at home mums do their youtube videos. I think the best thing you can do for your baby girls is to make sure they don't follow the "have many children" path.

    • @islandplannergirl3814
      @islandplannergirl3814 8 лет назад

      +Jenny Penton And I don't mean that as an insult - I really don't. It's more a testament to what it takes to raise multiple children and give up paid work to do so. It takes everything. I don't think it helps women to pretend they can have it all. You can't raise 8 kids (you can't raise 3+ I'd say) and have an intellectually and spiritually fulfilling career... And to think that there's a substitute to a fulfilling career.. there isn't a substitute. Not for the intelligent modern women of today - and I'd say there was no substitute for women of any generation. That's where the unhappiness comes from. I think we should admit it and not take ourselves or, if too late for us, our daughters down that path.

    • @PlannerPerfect
      @PlannerPerfect  8 лет назад +2

      +IslandPlannerGirl I appreciate your input, however. It's not a matter of having it all. Being a mother of few or many takes great sacrifice and to me, it's worth it. knowing your purpose doesn't have to mean a career. I don't want a career and I think any woman who chooses to have a big family feels the same, but you can use your talents and know your purpose outside of motherhood and be fulfilled. Women who want a career already do and use day cares, I'm obviously not talking to them. You can make money from home as well without working outside the home. I'm speaking to women who choose to stay home. It's important that they seek to know and understand who they are outside of their motherhood so they are fully using who God created them to be. I don't have it all, but I do use and know my purpose. I wouldn't encourage my daughters to choose an education and a career over motherhood to find fulfillment. I encourage them to know their unique gifts and talents and use them.
