yeh, its one of the most realistic romance animes ive watched if not the realest. thats why its one of my all time fav animes its realistic which is rare to see in romance anime which makes it more refreshing.
I dont think its about going after seductive guys. All I see so far, women pick the strongest guy in close range to maintain a stable life. 'Being strong' may have different means in different circumstances. it might be the popular guy who was a bullier in a high school or just a random guy but who has a significant payment and leak of confidence to go after another women (I mean someone loyal).. Nana wanted to be with takumi bc she knew takumi will there what ever happens and he was financially stable.
I think that is truly why so many people love this show. It is so realistic in so.many ways, but it doesn't change how we wish things would work out. It shatters out illusions. It makes it real.

There are so many factors why Nana possibly chose Takumi over her love for Nobu 1. Takumi can support the child financially under a stable household 2. Nobu didn’t have a lot of money as being part of the band at that point since it was still like you know starting to get recognized. 3. Nana didn’t want to rely on Nobu’s kindness even if the child wasn’t his because if he took the child in, he would have to give up on his dream and go back to his parent’s place to work and support the child. 4. You could tell by Nobu’s face...he wasn’t ready to be a father at that point even if he wanted to be with Hachi.....it was all so sudden when he found out that he couldn’t process it all 5. Takumi was responsible for getting Nana pregnant even though Hachi could’ve at least tried to use some sort of protection like Nana does with Ren even though I just wished they started a family..... and yeah....those are the list of reasons why Hachi & Nobu’s life split apart like that
In one of the manga chapters (I can't remember which one)..hachi says she chose takumi not for the baby's sake nor nobu's sake but because takumi was the only one there for her at that time(hachi was referring to the incident that happened after nobu questions her about the pregnancy,basically nobu hurt her with his comments and nana was nowhere to be seen so hachi felt alone) Update: it was chapter 48

Yes, third reason is the best reason why Hachi did that. She is far from perfect, but she is not as bad many people seems to think. Also in the door scene, there was still a chance for Nobu to change Hachi's choice. At that time, I believe Blast already signed their contract, so Nobu was in a better situation financially to support Hachi if he wanted. But for some reason, he didn't do that.
Oh yes. The other reason why she chose Takumi is simple. 6) She also liked/loved Takumi. Maybe not as much as to Nobu, but despite how terrible human being Takumi was, Hachi still loved him. (Well I always imagine that Takumi as the hottest guy in the series lol).
Nana's other boyfriend screwed her up. She would have gotten a happier ending with Nobu. Even if their not together I will cherish the moments when they were together and always consider Nana and Nobu as a couple.

Nobu and Hachi were together too early. The're desires, valuesystem and personalitys aren't fully realized here yet. My guess is, Komatsu will stay Takumi's wife till 29-30 years age, then they will get a divorce, and Nobu will slowly become the surregent father of Satsuki.

*Contains Spoilers* \ People need to understand that the manga is incomplete. Hachi always loved Nobu until the moment the manga abruptly went on hiatus! This manga captures reality and focuses on timing. Realistically it would have taken time for the pieces to fit together. Hachi had kids with Takumi, but he cared enough about Reira's condition to leave Nana and stay with her. You could tell Nobu hated that and wanted to still be with Hachi, and either Reira was to end up with Takumi, or finally consider him a brother and fully accept Shin. And Nana would have finally gone back to Nobu- who loved her kids and they loved him in return. Nana was getting over Ren's death; but she was hinted to be falling in love with- if not always unconsciously was- in love with Yasu- and eventually would have ended up with him! He was the neutralizer for her wild personality- someone who always had her back, always sensible and loving. It's now a matter of the manga continuing and neatly placing the remaining pieces of the puzzle.

It’s the only plausible end to the series that would leave the readers satisfied! After all the suffering portrayed in various forms in each character, and all the elements tying them to a certain course taking place in the plot, it would only be right and consolable to tell us that there is light at the end of a tunnel, and that waiting for the fruit to ripen will reward you with something sweet and wholesome. After the death of Ren, after the falling out with friends and lost loves, the only way from the very bottom would be up, and eventually happiness and love would find each character instead!

That would be all the better actually, because I actually always shipped Reira with Shin- even though he was a minor and it’s such a wrong concept to accept! But Shin was far to mature for his age, and he would have eventually grown up to be of age and be the best person in Reira’s life, and her healing journey!

well there are guys and/or girls who come off a bit too strong, like already "in-love" with the person at first meeting. Some people can't take that. They want a love that builds over time, in Nobu's and Hachi's case, they were friends first, and later succumbed to falling in love. Sometimes people are just terrified to commit. Because when you are in a relationship, you either break up or marry. It's hard.

Try to look a little deeper into the situation, maybe you can understand too. Nana was helpless and scared, Takumi ready to support her financially AND mentally, Nobu accused her of cheating leaving her too hurt to talk, then he fled. Takumi came back and took care of her through the night. When she was in need, he was the only one she could lean on. Think it over, at that moment, who would you have chosen.
Nana's baby was her meal ticket. She got pregnant to lock Takumi because she wanted to be rich. It was a bad time when it happened. If it wasn't for Nobu showing her what love is, she wouldn't have regretted activity trying to be with Takumi no matter what at that time. If she had waited for Nobu and the group to succeed, she would have had a better life with him. Nana is a cautionary tell of not everything that shines is gold, to wear condoms when having sex with jerks, and that money doesn't buy happiness.

I would call Nana a josei anime in complete sense and not shojo. This story is about women and a woman is a much more complex creature than a girl and this anime brought justice to that. I will not say Takumi and Hachi are a better couple but her decision to choose Takumi over Nobu is better because Hachi knew if wasn't about her anymore and if she had to give up her life and be involved in a loveless relationship for a sake of her child then it had to be it. It was a decision made a the woman part of her self

I watched this anime when I was 20 and I rewatched it now that I'm 30. The first time I thought until the end that Shouji was the best match for her and always hoped for them while i disliked Nobu and Takumi. From my perspective now i think she wouldn't be too happy with any of these guys. Takumi can get really abusive and Nobu is such a kid... Maybe Shouji could be good for her but nah.. i think if it wasn't for the baby someone better would be waiting for her. Under these circumstances Takumi is probably the one most capable to make Nana happy. He also makes a good point in the series about how love can rise between 2 people in the end and that everyone loves themselves the most before anyone else and that is true.

It’s the only plausible end to the series that would leave the readers satisfied! After all the suffering portrayed in various forms in each character, and all the elements tying them to a certain course taking place in the plot, it would only be right and consolable to tell us that there is light at the end of a tunnel, and that waiting for the fruit to ripen will reward you with something sweet and wholesome. After the death of Ren, after the falling out with friends and lost loves, the only way from the very bottom would be up, and eventually happiness and love would find each character instead!

That would be all the better actually, because I actually always shipped Reira with Shin- even though he was a minor and it’s such a wrong concept to accept! But Shin was far to mature for his age, and he would have eventually grown up to be of age and be the best person in Reira’s life, and her healing journey!

well there are guys and/or girls who come off a bit too strong, like already "in-love" with the person at first meeting. Some people can't take that. They want a love that builds over time, in Nobu's and Hachi's case, they were friends first, and later succumbed to falling in love.
Sometimes people are just terrified to commit. Because when you are in a relationship, you either break up or marry. It's hard.

I would call Nana a josei anime in complete sense and not shojo. This story is about women and a woman is a much more complex creature than a girl and this anime brought justice to that. I will not say Takumi and Hachi are a better couple but her decision to choose Takumi over Nobu is better because Hachi knew if wasn't about her anymore and if she had to give up her life and be involved in a loveless relationship for a sake of her child then it had to be it. It was a decision made a the woman part of her self

I watched this anime when I was 20 and I rewatched it now that I'm 30. The first time I thought until the end that Shouji was the best match for her and always hoped for them while i disliked Nobu and Takumi. From my perspective now i think she wouldn't be too happy with any of these guys. Takumi can get really abusive and Nobu is such a kid... Maybe Shouji could be good for her but nah.. i think if it wasn't for the baby someone better would be waiting for her. Under these circumstances Takumi is probably the one most capable to make Nana happy. He also makes a good point in the series about how love can rise between 2 people in the end and that everyone loves themselves the most before anyone else and that is true.
