The letterboxing style copied from Subzero Heroes looks pretty oppressive in this. I recommend the following tweaks to make it seem more natural. - Flattening the angle so it bites less into the scene - Making it a dark color instead of black, so that it's more visible in dark scenes - Using an ease-out when appearing, ease-in when disappearing to smooth out the transition - Anti-aliasing the edges to make them blend better
