Tbf, I never hated icebox and never thought it was huge. But when the content creators showcased breeze, I was scared for my life. I love the map, it's ideally what something from real world would look like in a game. And now as I play it, I enjoy it. But until the time it was introduced and until I played a few games on the map and got a good feel of it, it was scary af how huge it was. The map is huge like HUUUUUUGGGGEEEEE.

Who fucking hates breeze? It is not as huge as they hated icebox. Breeze have more entrances and it is wider. Icebox is shit at first because of the verticality and chokepoints. Especially 50/50 angles. As shown here, mid is shit in Icebox, you can not split push using mid. Mid is fucking useless in attacking on Icebox. You are open to a lot of angles as you clear it. So the default is just one guards mid for flank, and push either a or b. Or fake b with 2, and then 3 at a site, and vice versa. Especially before, viper is not really picked that much, even pro matches in NA doesnt use viper before the buff. I only see it in pro scene in Eu teams. They are using the wall especially on B site.

I don't even play ranked(very casual gamer as of now) but even I like icebox. I think the problem is many people instalocks duelists whereas icebox is a lot of fun if you are playing controllers or sentinels. As someone who possesses very average aim, I only hate icebox when I get it during death matching.
Icebox is great when watching tier 1 teams play it as the strategical depth is very high on that map and the agent pool gets very diverse compared to other maps. Playing it yourself is decent now if you get a viper and a sage that is good, haha.
What strategical depth? Every match is viper+sage, wall and plant, and fight during postplant. It's become kinda boring. There is exactly one way to play this map.

That's exactly why siege turns off new players and why it will never get big. You try to do anything in that game and you get 1 tapped through 4 walls from absolutely nowhere with no way to prevent or predict it.
@@Nick-ij5nt the difference is, in siege you have to gather intel. If noone in the team is scouting/droning, you're basically in a disadvantage (This also applies to val and csgo of course but the info gathering is not as extensive and as needed as it is in siege)

I love this map coz I'm a Viper main since the start eventhough people literally never used her thinking she's not good enough back then... I knew this was the perfect map and a must for Viper including Breeze! Happy to see my senses are there
Considering the last three sessions I've played with my friends we've only had 4 total maps show up and half the time it's been Breeze (which we don't like), I would LOVE to play Icebox again.
Ice box is the map that screams coordination and insane utility usage. The more coordinate you are the more easy it is to take a site. Its like splitting a very hard job to five person. And every weak link makes it hard for the others to carry the weight of that weak link

I can contest a vandal with a marshal but for the love of god why is op so OP there. Also, they should add a window to the wall in b(Idk what site but it has a wall in it) so we can actually work our way around it. Also, they should add a railing on mid, the highground where defender could watch mid, the right one, they could add a little railing on the right side, so that it would become easier to retake the tower, also they rearrange the metal doors, I really like it, kinda like a duel, I like the feeling for fighting it out in a straight line, with just marshals or any other gun(fk op) tbh.

The “problem” with icebox is that it really relies on good utility usage and coordination between your team. Which is rare in solo q. God why can’t we choose which maps we q.
I'm kinda grateful for random maps. CSGO is my main game, where we get to choose which maps we get to q for or which maps we vote off, and most of my games just end up on Mirage. If you wanna keep playing one map for 75% of your games then yeah maybe choosing which maps you q for sounds good.

I remember hating icebox not because of its layout or the dozens of angles that you need to check, but because I always seemed to lose in that map even if I pop off and the enemy team still manages to come back. Besides that, I always knew that Icebox was something special because of the countless possibilities for creative plays with agents such as Cypher, Viper, Sova, etc.
What I figured in Icebox is you take mid control the angles there are decent. Wait for the sage wall to expire and go kitchen or take the initial fight on B if someone is peeking it. Don't commit to anything until clock is running out people will get impatient.
Always loved icebox. It makes my brain working on calculating movements the other team is going to do. It's really good to actually get used to understand how different players play and actually use that to an advantage. Understanding your enemy is the best thing to happen in this map. Personally this map helped me the most with that. It's chaos in a tight space and God damn me and my friends are crazy for it. It forces you to not rush in blindly and forces you to check corners forces you to think and understand the game. Of course you should be able to do these things in every game. But icebox really is just using every little space at your advantage. It's a small map that requires dominance which I love very much.

I once hated icebox that everytime it's on my loading screen I instantly alt f4 the game but for playing it one time and never dodging again I began to love it and I can say it is one of the best maps in valorant itself.
This actually makes me want to come back to Valorant. I played beta the whole time and then dropped it to go back to Overwatch. But this really makes me want to try again.

This map went from being my most hated map to one of my favorite maps in the game. When dissected, it could be seen as pretty well-balanced in terms of side advantage and the size of the map means anybody could be a winner. Breeze, on the other hand....
I'm glad one of the professionals said it, that the real problem here was NA stubbornness. I come from the FGC where we see a lot of things that forces to adapt, and being relatively new to competitive shooters I've noticed that a lot of people just don't want to take the time to learn certain matchups or certain ways to play a map. Take Astra I remember when she came out my initial thought was she was going to be great. After playing with her, I was pretty confident that she was going to be a top-tier pick simply because of her baseline utility. However I saw a lot of people saying that she was bad and that she couldn't offer what other controllers did and I just couldn't understand why? I chalked it up to lack of understanding, but these were professionals saying that. And then I realize they're just stubborn.
Bruh I have to say that I love all the maps and especially Breeze, Ascent and Icebox in that order. Even if people feel that its bad they should try to get better than others at it.
people that don't understand the game at all hate ascent. High key the best map, maybe a close second to breeze. I can understand people that have never played CS hating breeze, but hating ascent is just a result of ignorance to the basics of the game.
I hated icebox, but me and da bois got used to it. We all hate split cause of how claustrophobic it feels and it feels impossible to push a site. We actually like breeze cause aiming and use of utilities is rewarded more than just flick sprays.

well, because a lot of newbie players got used to the 50/50 angles and smaller map area of the first 4 maps. Basically, they hate maps where "spraying an enemy until he dies" is negated.
I don’t play Valorant often, and just recently started playing more again. I’ve never had a problem with icebox that I remember. Im S2 ranked player, and for me its just a little hit harder to attack than to defend. But if you are patient with your attack and keep the enemy guessing, its pretty ok to attack too.
As a newbie in Valorant and in fps, Icebox is my first love in the game. I dunno why the map is interesting for me, and it's super fun to play compared to the others.

Quite honestly, i have come to love icebox after playing it for a bit. The small intricacies that allow for rat plays fits my playstyle perfectly.

use the high ground to your advantage you can get nasty positions with jett i’ve always loved this map
that's the reason why it's bad, people can be in too many places which makes it horrible to retake, or attack a site

I liked Breeze immediately. Still hate Icebox.
I remember hating icebox not because of its layout or the dozens of angles that you need to check, but because I always seemed to lose in that map even if I pop off and the enemy team still manages to come back. Besides that, I always knew that Icebox was something special because of the countless possibilities for creative plays with agents such as Cypher, Viper, Sova, etc.

I just realized how different icebox use to look
What I figured in Icebox is you take mid control the angles there are decent. Wait for the sage wall to expire and go kitchen or take the initial fight on B if someone is peeking it. Don't commit to anything until clock is running out people will get impatient.
in a nutshell: Some map changes and the Viper buff made the map less stupid to play on

Always loved icebox. It makes my brain working on calculating movements the other team is going to do.
It's really good to actually get used to understand how different players play and actually use that to an advantage. Understanding your enemy is the best thing to happen in this map. Personally this map helped me the most with that.
It's chaos in a tight space and God damn me and my friends are crazy for it. It forces you to not rush in blindly and forces you to check corners forces you to think and understand the game.
Of course you should be able to do these things in every game. But icebox really is just using every little space at your advantage. It's a small map that requires dominance which I love very much.

around the time this got uploaded i had a thought that icebox was like Nuke, i hated it at first. but the way the map is made. starts to grow on me
I once hated icebox that everytime it's on my loading screen I instantly alt f4 the game but for playing it one time and never dodging again I began to love it and I can say it is one of the best maps in valorant itself.
Breeze made me appreciate icebox.

This map went from being my most hated map to one of my favorite maps in the game. When dissected, it could be seen as pretty well-balanced in terms of side advantage and the size of the map means anybody could be a winner.

I'm glad one of the professionals said it, that the real problem here was NA stubbornness. I come from the FGC where we see a lot of things that forces to adapt, and being relatively new to competitive shooters I've noticed that a lot of people just don't want to take the time to learn certain matchups or certain ways to play a map. Take Astra I remember when she came out my initial thought was she was going to be great. After playing with her, I was pretty confident that she was going to be a top-tier pick simply because of her baseline utility. However I saw a lot of people saying that she was bad and that she couldn't offer what other controllers did and I just couldn't understand why? I chalked it up to lack of understanding, but these were professionals saying that. And then I realize they're just stubborn.

Bruh I have to say that I love all the maps and especially Breeze, Ascent and Icebox in that order. Even if people feel that its bad they should try to get better than others at it.
From my exp, people that have bad aim hate all 3 of the maps.
people that don't understand the game at all hate ascent. High key the best map, maybe a close second to breeze. I can understand people that have never played CS hating breeze, but hating ascent is just a result of ignorance to the basics of the game.

well, because a lot of newbie players got used to the 50/50 angles and smaller map area of the first 4 maps. Basically, they hate maps where "spraying an enemy until he dies" is negated.

I don’t play Valorant often, and just recently started playing more again. I’ve never had a problem with icebox that I remember. Im S2 ranked player, and for me its just a little hit harder to attack than to defend. But if you are patient with your attack and keep the enemy guessing, its pretty ok to attack too.
