Well, it's difficult for most marines to defy unjust orders in an organization where most of the officers giving those unjust orders are powerhouses (at least compared to the average marine) who often won't let any disobedient subordinates live long enough to explain things in a court martial trial. Many of them can even handle a full mutiny.

Of all the remaining characters to play a role in the story, Weevil is unironically one of the top 3 characters I'm most excited to learn more about (the other two being Imu and Blackbeard). The reason is that I genuinely have no idea where Oda's going with him, but there has been so much buildup towards his supposed role in the story both IN the story and in that one comment from Oda
I think Weevil is a failed clone of Whitebeard.

@@sakumon16 Vegapunk uses specifically blood as a DNA source in most of his experiments, so if Weevil is a botched clone, it would mean that Punk must have had at least a vial of Newgate's blood at some point, possibly brought to him by the original Stussy.
There's a theory rolling around that, same as Kuma, Whitebeard was half buccaneer, and that half-breed DNA is why the clone was imperfect, leading to Vegapunk to look into an alternative to the human part of the DNA, resulting in the buccaneer-lunarian combination we see on the Seraphim.

It’s funny to see how many people think this is the same guy who tried to rob Nami and took bribes from arlong in east blue.
They aren’t the same but are very similair. They are both captains, both mouse/rat themed. But they have different outfits, hair colour and they also have different fighting styles. Nezumi was a sword man and ratel seems to prefer using guns.
