Deccan Queen takes only 10 minutes more than Mumbai Solapur Vande Bharat to reach Pune from Mumbai with same amount of halts and is Deccan Queen is more affordable than vande Bharat and also gets priority like premium trains on Pune Mumbai route. Most important while travelling from Pune to Mumbai Deccan Queen takes 3h 10m to reach CSMT while Vande Bharat takes 5 minutes more than Deccan Queen.

Agreed 12123 Deccan Queen is 10mins slower than 22225 Vande Bharat Express. 12123 Deccan Queen is more than 95 percent late at Pune, 15mins to 20mins it reaches Pune Late whereas Vande Bharat Express reaches on time sometimes 5mins before time. So in every way its faster and even punctual. Regarding travel from Pune to Mumbai, both 22226 Vande Bharat Express and Deccan Queen are 15mins late. I too hate travelling by trains with closed doors, so even I prefer travelling by Deccan Queen. Not only Deccan Queen is affordable, also snacks served onboard are tastier and also timings both ways Deccan Queen is better. Infact I even find AC Chair Car seats much better in DQ than Vande Bharat express. I took Vande Bharat when all other trains were running on heavy waitlist. 22225 journey is far better and punctual than 22226

The day I travelled it got all clear run till karjat but from malavli to kamshet we were trailing boxn load and doing 30 to 40kph. At kamshet outer we halted also. Later it covered up delay and we reached 5mins before time

one thing i wish the railways did --> why can't they keep 2-3 coaches permanently attached to the banker locos? the ghat section is already full with no slots to run extra trains so a lot of passengers come to karjat via local, then enter any passing train from Karjat to Lonavala and then go ahead from Lonavala towards Pune via Local trains. (completion of 3rd line between lonavala and Pune will lead to more local trains on that section) if railways kept a few coaches permanently attached to the bankers, they could sell those seats for tickets and passengers would get a safe passage through the ghats. it would also reduce a lot of private cabs and buses which ply only karjat to lonavala, thus freeing up the expressway in the ghat section.as every train needs a banker, there will be extra seats available with every train without causing inconvenience to the long-distance Travellers. it would be a win-win situation for everyone.

@@arzan1980 if you noticed, most bankers are set as triplets but while banking passenger train, only two are live, 3rd is powered down. All 3 are used when banking freight trains . Actually, even a single loco is enough to bank , eg CR Rajdhani which goes with its 2 locos without any additional bankers but for other train, two loco banker set is used as safety margin in case one loco has any issue or if it fails midway.
i will sound like a spoilsport but DQ rakes are barely used for 6 hours per day, morning 3 hours ride from Pune to Mumbai and 3 hours in evening from Mumbai to Pune. while Indrayi train goes Mumbai --> Pune --> Solapur --> Pune --> Mumbai, on a daily basis, 7 days a week.

since ages, Deccan Queen leaves Pune at 7:15am, reaches mumbai at 10:25am, then leaves mumbai at 5:15pm and reaches pune at 8:25pm which job has this type of timings ???? which job lets a person reach the office by 11am and lets the person leave at 430pm ???? only ones i can think of is stock market brokers and RBI & other Govt bankers on the contrary , Indrani train leaves mumbai at 540am, reaches pune by 9am, then leaves pune by 6:35pm and reaches mumbai by 10pm this is more realistic timings for someone doing a proper job in Pune , even in those days in the 90s and early 2000s

Because its punctual and also maintains its aggressive time table. Suburban run is very aggressive whereas 22226 suburban run is not good and reaches Csmt 15-20mins late
The vande Bharat is built for greater speeds than normal mail express trains. It is limited by track MPS, TSR and PSR. The deccan queen cannot beyond a certain speed. Conditions permitting the vande Bharat can go mux much faster . Therein lies the big difference.
