Romantic. 🌹 Just a word to the wise and inexperienced snow people. If the snowfall is heavy and wet and the trees are full of their leaves still, get the heck to an open site before the limbs start to snap off and fall on your beloved and precious Airstream.
Here in the Central Valley of Calif. There is a place in the eastern foot hills, called California Hot Springs. My wife and I were able to stay there in one of their cabins for a couple of nights, years ago, and it did snow on us. We spent that night from about 6:00 pm, to 9:00 pm in the hot pools, and let the snow fall upon us. For a couple from Arizona it was quite a treat,,,,,,, until we got out to go back to the cabin. Burrrr, but still fun.
BTW: Yankee tip ... clear the snow off the windshield and roof before you turn on the wipers. You can strip the gears in your wiper motor's transmission when packed snow interferes with the wiper arms. If you don't have a "snow brush" a broom works well.
We always loved winter camping next to the Cape Cod Canal. Waking up to snow cover and being close to the only ones there was always great along with the hum of a giant ship going through the canal from time to time.
Thanks for the memories in Lava Hot Springs, ID. In the winter of 1992-93, I lived in that RV park from November through February. I was part of a pipeline crew putting in a new 24 inch natural gas pipeline from Rock Springs, Wyo. up and over Fish Creek the summit just east of Lave Hot Springs and west to Inkom, ID near Pocatello. I broke the rearend in my F-700 Ford mechanics truck in Lava Hot Springs. I layed under my truck one whole day changing the rear end gears in 50 degree below zero weather and 50-65 MPH cross winds under the truck. I leaned two full sized sheet of 3/4 inch X 48 inch X 96 inch plywood against the right side of my truck to block the wind from howling under my truck while I did the job. If you have ever been around pipeliners you know they are tough. Since you grew up where you did I'm pretty sure you have seen Local 798 Pipeliner plates on trucks before. And Local 302 Operating Engineers. I have both plates on my truck. Thanks for the memories. Glad I'm retired now.
We were at Lava Hot Springs but not when it was snowing. We plan on going back when we can spend a few more days. Our trip was a quick stop-over just to check it out.
We had snow earlier this year when we were in Utah. We are not a fan as we live in Tennessee and get it often. The hot springs looked amazing. Lynn and Danny
I don't know if you are still using the little box electric heater or the airstream heater. You guys hit some cold weather. I just installed a 150 dollar chinese heater in my Class A. I like it so much better I don't have words. The heat isn't just warm but it's so comfortable . If you want more reliability, get the 1200 dollar Webasto Heater. Or buy a back up and you are still 900 dollars ahead. And it's super fuel efficient. I wanted to come on and tell you because I went on your advice for the electric heater and using it for the past 2 winters. The deisel heater is lightyears better. I'm going to set up a 2nd to warm the basement. It will warm the floor and keep the tanks from freezing. And I'll have a backup if a failure and I won't have to diagnose problems when it's 20 degrees outside. You both make great videos and are good at editing
In the mid 80’s, my wife and I and our 4 daughters lived in Trussville, Al. ……And I believe in 86 or 87 , we had a pretty big snowstorm. The kids were on a snow day and my business was closed so we went to Northern Al looking for more accumulation and better sledding. We had a great day and have fond memories of snow in Alabama. Kids in their 40’s now talk about a mini snowstorm and sledding in Ft Payne. I was looking for “Alabama “ band members. Kids were looking for “ more snow”. Thanks for the Alabama snow story. Dan and Cindy. Previously RV Monster. Now RV Buzz…. Great Boondockers side yard you are welcome to in Lakeland, Fl. When you come to Central Florida.
I know how people in Alabama are when there is a hint of snow or ice in the forecast, they run to the store and empty the shelves of eggs, milk, and bread.
I was camping in Yellowstone (Madison Campground) for this years first winter storm. We had 6-8 inches of snow overnight and closed all roads except the one to West Yellowstone, but if you left you couldn't come back in. I camp in a small "square drop" trailer with no insulation. Inside the camper was in the mid 20's but I was toasty warm in my bed as I was prepared for it. The first snow was so beautiful. To see all the Christmas trees covered in snow was a delight. I'm from Texas so the snow was gorgeous site to behold. Us flatlanders don't get to experience it.
For those who do not live in snow... don't run your wipers when there is more than about a 1/2 inch of snow! The heavy snow will get between the wiper blade and the hood. It may burn out your wiper motor as it tries to push the snow down. I've even bent a wiper arm once. Also, if you think it will be
Great vid. Thank you! I am from Hollywood Florida so I see less snow than you guys. I believe it was 1977 and it snowed. It was semester exams, the teacher wouldn't let us out to see it but the whole rest of the school saw it. So I really enjoyed seeing before you went to bed it was all beautiful and green and then you wake up to this gorgeous white everywhere very cool. God bless y'all. Happy and safe trails.
Glad you got to camp in Idaho. Claudia and I live in Idaho and I for the past 12 years have traveled and camped in the 48 states and have loved it yet Idaho our base as you know it’s one of the best of the best outdoor experiences. Next time you are in the area contact us and we will give you the true out of doors experience of natural hot springs an out of doors experience. Digging Opal and panning gold.
Thanks for your video. I'm a 70 yr old skier and as I have gotten older, I'm disliking the cold weather more. Here in Northern California we don't get snow, but we're only about 4 hours away from Lake Tahoe. The campground looks very nice with snow, but I still prefer summer camping where I can wear shorts and not drag snow into the RV. That 112 degree pool is really not healthy for you, we have a hot tub and 103 is all I can take, I can't imagine how 112 feels like. Thanks again.
I lived in the suburbs of Denver, CO, for 32 years, so I was nervous about the Airstream being under a tree that was still covered in leaves 🍃!! Whew! I've always thought the snow was beautiful... until I had to live with it, shovel it, and attempt to maneuver with other drivers in it during rush (!?!?!) hour traffic. Ugh.
May 22, 2019. Camping in our new Truck Tent, heading from Little Big Horn to Deadwood. Show predicted, so we called ahead and upgraded to a little cabin/hut. 22 inches of snow. Good thing we moved into sticks for the night! That is the reason we now have a travel trailer.
Hi Guys, what a nice promotion for LHS!!! The city should PAY you for that... :-) Hearing favorable comments can be kinda rare at times... THANK YOU!!!
I lived in cold, snowy states for years and also lived in warm/hot states for years....I still love that first snow! (as long as I'm not stuck in it or have to shovel it)
We love your videos,,, we tell everyone to be quiet you all have a new video out,, we get the popcorn and out it on TV. Love the way you narrate the video and your wife is pretty and a much see in your videos. Makes us just want to pack up and go where you guys are at
I want to make a comment about how much I like that you've moved your weekly post off of Sunday. It seems like all of the other channels just have to post on Sunday, so I go a week with very little RV content, then get it all dumped on Sunday. It is nice to get yours all by itself a day or two later.
Your video made me feel cold! For those who prefer quiet heat, one of our local stores sells 700 watt oil-filled heaters, which offer nearly as much power but don't have a fan. They are slower to heat up than a forced air heater but I can sleep more easily with them.
I lived in Pittsburgh, Pa. One Feb it went to minus 33 degrees F for the whole month. It was so cold that the rivers froze. The US Coast Guard sent ice breaking ships to break the ice. Well the Coast Guard vessels got frozen in the river water. Now that is cold!!!!!!!!
We were headed to Yellowstone but took a hard left at the Rockies and woke up this morning to snow just outside of Salt Lake City. We're just outside of Capitol Reef. Can't wait to explore this area. Come on warm weather.
Just started (temporary) full time RVing last July. Looking forward to our first winter camping. I'm ready for some cold stuff...the jury is still out with my other half. Hey, we can't always run from snow!
Go back next SUMMER when you can rent an inner-tube and float the creek/river between hot springs pools. Then have an open-face sandwich at the Chuckwagon! Maybe even find a Huckleberry shake! (or is it a malt?)
Being that close, have you ever ventured to Dinosaur National Monument? Don't remember any of your videos coming from the Split Mountain Gorge campground along the Green River or visiting Josie Morris's old cabin where would entertain the likes of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid. The Quarry in the monument is unbelievable. Maybe next. We kept missing you by a week as we traveled back to our home in Oregon after visiting your home state. Mike & Pam
Sitting in that last hot spring, you guys were starting to look like the main course at a New Orleans crawfish boil. Just add some Zatarain's Crab Boil.
This time last year I was up at Deadhorse Point for five nights. Woke up to about 4-5 inches of snow one morning . Then dropped down to Gold Bar BLM on the Colorado for two nights. Suppose to be at Cedar Mesa right now but problem came up and my appendix will come out next week.
Some advice from some full-time airstreamers, get a down comforter for the bed, turn that stock furnace down to about 62° at night, crack those ceiling vents just slightly…… I would like to know the model and make of that small heater you’re using?
This south Georgia raised girl loves to see that snow!! When it snows now in NC I can't sleep!! I wake up over and over to see if it's started snowing!!
Where I come from, it doesn't snow at all. Well, not never, but it's extremely rare--like a once in every 30 years event. And it isn't heavy, and doesn't last. I don't like to be cold, and I would not want to try to drive in snow/ice conditions. As my late hubby used to say, "We have a deal with snow: it doesn't come see us, and we don't go see it." ;-) Looks like a neat place to visit...but the trouble I have with tiny towns is the food selection in the restaurants; they rarely, if ever, have anything on offer for vegetarians...I'd definetly be eating in my own camper...
Sean, cannot remember if your rig is 30A or 50A, if it's 50A you should get a second space heater and plug it into an outlet on the other leg. I run 2x 1500W electric heaters and in all but the coldest conditions they'll keep my ~330 square foot rig at 72 without the propane. Oh and about the hot springs, I take my showers and baths at 120F and often spend a half hour or longer =)
Snow is still so much fun for me. Still enjoy the “sloppy schedule”, Tuesday is the new Monday. I like watching live streams, but usually catch them on the replay. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.
You guys have so many great videos. I thank you. I just bought my first Travel trailer. I went with friends on a camping trip and they swore I had been doing this for years. I had a lot of things dialed in right away. I told them about how I just watched your videos, took notes and was able to have most of everything we needed to have a very enjoyable fist trip experience. My wife doesn't know it yet but I'm priming her for some boon docking real soon. I will do a few more hook up trips first just to make sure were ready. Thanks again for taking your time to make these videos. Happy travels.
Hot springs camping is the best! We just got back from camping in Southern Utah and every night got into the 20s. My butt was saved by my Kelty 15 degree sleeping bag. If you happen to find yourself in colder temps with no heat, having some low degree sleeping bags stashed away is a good idea.
No matter how cold it is I still & always LOVE the 1st snow !!!! I do stay inside though LOL!!! The only time I go out is to video how Beautiful & Clean everything looks!!! LOVES/HUGS!!!!
Something to consider. The RV Geeks show how to install an outlet in the rig that is connected to an inlet outside in a compartment. This allows them to ALSO connect that dedicated outlet to the 20amp service on the pedestal. That way your full 30amp service is still fully available for your microwave, furnace, TV etc.
The first snow of the winter is always beautiful. It's the snow that follows which isn't so welcome. Personally, I wouldn't have chosen to be in that part of the country any time after Labor Day.😁
We were just north of you all during that storm. We hunkered down near the little town of Blackfoot just got about 2 inches. Glad we moved there because we were in Kelley canyon boondocking and they got almost a foot up there! 😮
Snow. Beautiful if you can plow through it. Costly if you get stuck. Fun not fun. However, that 112 degrees hot spring is questionable. A little too hot. 👀
Last November we woke up to 4 inches of snow at our campsite. It was just magical! Just like your photos we have ours ,so beautiful. Thanks for the reminder!
Fun episode! Best of both worlds. Hey, we live in Chicago and first snow is still exciting and beautiful to us every time. By February it’s a different story. But, my dogs Ziggy and Stardust love it all the time. They’re Cuban, go figure :) have fun!!
Thanks for sharing,,,,thats beautiful before the snow,,,but quite a contrast the next morning with the snow,,,,,i'm a southerner by birth,,,,,,,like a fish outta water while in the snow,,,,all i got is flip flops,,,😳😳🇺🇸🇺🇸😍,,,stay safe and 😍,,,,,,8 bucks,,thats very affordable and very cool,,,,😍
It tried to snow while we took our trailer for winter storage. Definitely not what you experienced. I live in Muskoka Ontario Canada, and we can expect nearly 3.3 meters (10 feet) of snow over the winter. I still get excited when we get a good dumping. Of course it takes a foot or more to stop us from traveling. Great Video. Hot Springs in SNOW is the best!!!
9:22 You want to be careful using a "shelter tree" in thawing conditions. Higher probability of a snow clump coming down all at once. Which is a bigger problem than natural accumulation on the roof. Not to mention, if the tree looks old or recently infested -- stay away. That popping you hear can quickly turn into cracking, in turn leading to downed branches (or worse)!
Pretty sure I held that same tub of hot choclate last week. LOL Hate parking under those snow covered trees. Be safe. Snow was gone when we where there
I camped in that same spot in Lava Hot Springs last summer, what a great spot. The hot pools are a must do. I have been eating at the Chuckwagon for many years and I have never got a bad meal.
Romantic. 🌹 Just a word to the wise and inexperienced snow people. If the snowfall is heavy and wet and the trees are full of their leaves still, get the heck to an open site before the limbs start to snap off and fall on your beloved and precious Airstream.
Yup
Yes, that was my immediate thought/concern when I saw the placement of their Airstream. It could have been a very different video.

Kristy, you're such a good sport to let your hubby video you as you 1st wake up ... ;-) Great video!

Agreed! I learned the hard way and was left with inoperable windshield wipers.
I agree. The snow load could be too heavy or your wipers could be frozen to the windshield.
@@rabbi6225 At least a hundred bucks before labor would be an expensive way to get one shot of how to damage your truck.
Or, just lift both arms before the weather hits
I thought the same thing!
Yup. Some of us grew up and still live in Arctic conditions not far from Lava Hot Springs.
We always loved winter camping next to the Cape Cod Canal. Waking up to snow cover and being close to the only ones there was always great along with the hum of a giant ship going through the canal from time to time.

Never camp / park under a tree with leaves especially, when you know it's going to snow. A branch can fall on your rig.
More important than leaves: inspect the tree for recent infestation.
As someone who has lived up North most of my life, I look forward to never seeing snow again in person. Postcards are nice, though. Lol.
Snow = skiing! Bring on the snow!!!
We had snow earlier this year when we were in Utah. We are not a fan as we live in Tennessee and get it often. The hot springs looked amazing. Lynn and Danny
I'd rather be hunkered down in that campground than out driving in that snow

We got hammered here in Redding , Lake Oraville rose 20 feet , big storm to start this year off with we need it

Thanks 👍Appreciate you sticking with us over the years!

Nothing beats a hot open face roast beef sandwich on a cold snowy night!!!
If there's snow, it's time to go!
You need a diesel bunk heater. I have Chinese diesel heater. Dry heat ,sip diesel and very low battery drain.
Thanks for your video. I'm a 70 yr old skier and as I have gotten older, I'm disliking the cold weather more. Being in a hot tub\springs during snow is just amazing. We'd get out every now and then and roll in the snow and hop back in. Wow. Just Wow.
15 years of rv videos and this one was just as exciting featuring Sean’s wonderful sense of humor. Loved the ice pit, best use of a fire ring ever!
Very good idea to edit and narrate the video while in the warmer surroundings of southern Utah!
Snow. Bah Humbug. We've entered the second season of the year here in Westsylvania, called "Greyslush." The other season is "Hotstruction."
Loved this! 😁 I live on a lovely temperate island in the south Pacific so the snow really tickles me⛄⛄⛄
How's the fishing? Maybe a little trout for dinner
I lived in cold, snowy states for years and also lived in warm/hot states for years....I still love that first snow! (as long as I'm not stuck in it or have to shovel it)
It's not the first snow you dislike... it's the twentieth and the thirtieth.
Love snow, especially when it looks like that.
We throughly enjoy traveling in Idaho 👍😎🇺🇸
We love your videos,,, we tell everyone to be quiet you all have a new video out,, we get the popcorn and out it on TV. Love the way you narrate the video and your wife is pretty and a much see in your videos. Makes us just want to pack up and go where you guys are at

Thanks so much for posting this! We're so glad to hear that you like it -- we do too! :)
In the Midwest we call that a hot beef sandwich. Fun video
Thanks
Your video made me feel cold! For those who prefer quiet heat, one of our local stores sells 700 watt oil-filled heaters, which offer nearly as much power but don't have a fan. They are slower to heat up than a forced air heater but I can sleep more easily with them.

Wow! I like snow for about 48 hours. After that, I'm over it. :) I do not envy my northern neighbors in the winter months. I couldn't do it!
That open faced hot beef sandwich with gravy looked delicious!
We use an Edenpure for Winter camping. Love it and so do the dogs!
Go back next SUMMER when you can rent an inner-tube and float the creek/river between hot springs pools. Then have an open-face sandwich at the Chuckwagon! Maybe even find a Huckleberry shake! (or is it a malt?)
That is so aweome. Being from Florida, a nice snow fall is exciting and I ain't no kid anymore. "Ice pit" was too funny.
Being that close, have you ever ventured to Dinosaur National Monument? we did the ice storm in Galveston last winter feel your pain
I really enjoy taking the RV out of Florida to see snow, and then returning to the warmth afterwards.
You two find the best camping spots! Living in the northern Midwest we see a lot of snow. Have only camped through flurries so far.
Sitting in that last hot spring, you guys were starting to look like the main course at a New Orleans crawfish boil. Just add some Zatarain's Crab Boil.
hilarious
Yep, in my lovely state of California you can poop on the street in broad daylight but you can't heat your "hot springs" to more than 106 degrees F.
Lol, sad but true.
Lava is one of our favorite places to relax. The Chuck Wagon is a must.
We went to Chuckwagon twice!
Ah, love that Lava Hot Springs area. The Portneuf River always promises good fishing
This time last year I was up at Deadhorse Point for five nights. Woke up to about 4-5 inches of snow one morning . Then dropped down to Gold Bar BLM on the Colorado for two nights. Suppose to be at Cedar Mesa right now but problem came up and my appendix will come out next week.
oh no! I hope you have a speedy recovery!
Some advice from some full-time airstreamers, get a down comforter for the bed, turn that stock furnace down to about 62° at night, crack those ceiling vents just slightly…… I would like to know the model and make of that small heater you’re using?
We used to go up into Canada during the winter to their hot springs and you could look over the snow laden valley, it was magical.
I really like the blue curtains, make the inside pop. Although when they were tan they were fine it's just I like how they stand out.
Thank you! I like them too. Gives the interior a little more personality!
This south Georgia raised girl loves to see that snow!! When it snows now in NC I can't sleep!! I wake up over and over to see if it's started snowing!!
We both agree we watch way to much RV TV on RUclips . That being said the both of you are one of our favorites! Thank you for all you do.
Spirit of Adventure….and ham sandwiches! That’s a bumper sticker if I’ve ever heard one…just an idea
I'd be heading south too if I opened the door and saw 4" of snow outside!
Such nice people
Where I come from, it doesn't snow at all. Well, not never, but it's extremely rare--like a once in every 30 years event. And it isn't heavy, and doesn't last. We really enjoyed your “late in the year trip”
That much snow in bham will shut the state down, not just our county.
Fire & Ice great combo. As you stayed your not that use to snow. Trees with leaves and snow not a good setup.
You guys have so many great videos. I thank you.
I just bought my first Travel trailer. I went with friends on a camping trip and they swore I had been doing this for years. I had a lot of things dialed in right away. My wife doesn't know it yet but I'm priming her for some boon docking real soon. I will do a few more hook up trips first just to make sure were ready.
Thanks again for taking your time to make these videos.
Happy travels.
I'm so glad to hear we've been helpful in your travels! That just makes our day! :) Safe travels and hope to meet you on the road someday.
love your video, snow is great to look at, I don't know about camping in it. And we are from Alabama, the Huntsville area.
I don't think i would want to be so far north at snow time. 😥 FL for me in winter.
Eeuuww. 112° is waaay too hot for me. I don't even like 100°
Ugh, snow. 😩 I’m glad you enjoyed it. We’re barely into autumn and I’m already looking forward to spring.
Camping need NOT be only a Summer experience…
Take proper care, stay warm… & enjoy !
Hot springs camping is the best! We just got back from camping in Southern Utah and every night got into the 20s. My butt was saved by my Kelty 15 degree sleeping bag. If you happen to find yourself in colder temps with no heat, having some low degree sleeping bags stashed away is a good idea.
Excellent tip!
Smart to watch the forecast, and plan.
32°F with a space heater, not frosty.
Personally, I wouldn't have chosen to be in that part of the country any time after Labor Day.😁
Really beautiful setting. Looks a wee bit chilly though!! lol
That open faced sandwich looks great. Glad you enjoyed yourselves,
I’d be worried about the limbs getting heavy enough to break then you’d have airstream on a stick
Love that Southern "spittin' snow" expression! I've said it all my life. I'm with you on the excitement of "the first snow". Great video!
Last November we woke up to 4 inches of snow at our campsite. It was just magical! Just like your photos we have ours ,so beautiful. Thanks for the reminder!
Great Video! The Hot Springs Looked Really Refreshing!
Come up to Canada to get warm - no snow around here yet!
Fun episode! Best of both worlds. Hey, we live in Chicago and first snow is still exciting and beautiful to us every time. By February it’s a different story. But, my dogs Ziggy and Stardust love it all the time. They’re Cuban, go figure :) have fun!!
Hey we’re at sand flats recreation area just a few miles away
I got caught back in winter of 2009 in Virginia in a 5 inch snow dump staying overnight on the way to Florida.
It wasn’t fun.
That campground looks awesome 👏🏾
Pretty sure I held that same tub of hot choclate last week. LOL Hate parking under those snow covered trees. Be safe. Snow was gone when we where there
I camped in that same spot in Lava Hot Springs last summer, what a great spot. The hot pools are a must do. I have been eating at the Chuckwagon for many years and I have never got a bad meal.
