To fly drone on or nearby Candi Borobudur you need permit from nearby Military Airport Adisutjipto that's why it is considered military air space

@@SilkyRonTheRoad yes to fly drone you can send a letter of intention to the Borobudur Administration and they will forward it to the Military Airport to be decided by them depend on your intentions, but if only for just personal probably they won't allow it

@@SilkyRonTheRoadBecause Borobudur Temple is a World Heritage, therefore it must be protected and if you want to fly a drone you must have strict permission. But in other areas of Java, on average, permits are not needed

@@SilkyRonTheRoad it's because before the Borobudur management implement no drone rules, there's many tourist bringing drone just for fun and fly it recklessly which end up the drones fell on or hitting the temple wall, so from that incident they divide Borobudur into 2 zone, the first one the area on top of the Borobudur structure (You need permit from the ministry of Cultural Heritage to fly in that zone, and your drone will be inspected), the second one is the park area around Borobudur Temple (You need permit from the management)

come visit Dieng Plateau, (it's about 2 hours drive from borobudur) Because this plateau was the womb that gave birth to the temples' civilization in Java.
Dieng, the Land of Gods, not only boasts stunning cultural works, but also displays the darkest portraits of the worst temple looting committed by locals. If only the 400 temples were still there, plus the stunning natural panorama of Dieng, I wouldn't be surprised if Dieng temple complex became much more famous than Borobudur, Prambanan, or even Angkor wat. And perhaps, the heart of Java tourism today wouldn't be Jogja, but the Dieng Plateau. Because it will be an unrivaled cultural paradise, if the 400 temples still existed.

17:53 hinduism and ... buddhism 😊 as you already know, Borobudur is a buddhis temple. it took 70-ish years to finish it. built by the Syailendra clan from 778-850 CE. it's huge, yeah? such a sight to see. but it came with a cost. it weakened them up to a point where another clan, the Sanjaya, took their chance and built Prambanan. to rival Borobudur, partly. this hindu temple is dedicated mainly to Shiva, god of destruction. and yes, Javanese love-and fear-Shiva. i mean, it is only natural for them to do so since there are too many volcanoes on the island 😉

Your opinion is not needed to other country/regions rules/policy. Thats how system works (try to learn and know how to put ourself in many situation. in short be resourceful, versatile & adaptable)

Englishman Thomas Stamford Raffles rediscovered Borobudur in 1815 after British invaded Java, and after Java was returned to control of the Dutch, he left Java and brought some pieces of Borobudur part with him. One of the Buddha head now displayed at the British Museum. In recent years, Indonesian goverment continues to demand the repatriation of the Buddha head.

For religious places, it’s not about being/for „good“ or „bad“ purposes. For most Indonesian, sacred places shall have to be „pure“ (despite their beliefs).

Because Borobudur have implemented no drone policy around its area unless you buy the permit to fly around those borobudur complex. It is important to remember that borobudur temple is a cultural heritage of Indonesia and also considered a holy place as it is a temple for buddhist in Indonesia. Borobudur used to allowed drone but together with overtourism, vandalism, eventually drone is forbidden because its when it is flown recklessly and if fell to the borobudur temple will damage the structure. The same thing happen with overtourism where the tourist will step on whatever they can place their foot on without caring to the structure of the borobudur causing a couple of years ban from entering the upper area of borobudur and reopen in 2023 limited visitor with additional fee and must wear a special sandal to prevent wear and damage to the structure of the borobudur temple. Hope this will help you to understand why they did that.

All of the school kids visiting the temple that day with you guys reminds me of here in the U.S. when many schools east of the Mississippi River take a big end-of-year field trip to Washington DC before the kids start high school in the fall. As a result, in the month of May, the entire Mall in DC (where the Smithsonian museum and Washington Monument are located) is full of tweens in brightly colored T-shirts with their schools name blazoned on them. And it's organized chaos!

Great vudeo! BTW, you are not alliwed to fly drones over UNESCO World Heritage Sites anywhere in the world, unless if you have official permit to do so. Borobudur and some other sites in Indonesia are included in the list.

@@SilkyRonTheRoadNo worries, you're not alone. That was the case with me too. They stopped me when flying over Prambanan. I didnt know until they told me 😁... I also found out that in certain countries even using long selfie sticks is not allowed at such sites. Anyway, enjoy your trip guys!!
