    wand of ironbeard, also called wand of manlyness : www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/i/ironbeard/
    You know you are metal when you can headbang so hard you can whip people with your beard.
    Obiously a dwarf racial spell.
    Also wand of monstrouous extremities for more or less the same thing but for hour/level (so easy to buff before combat with) : www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/m/monstrous-extremities/
    remember if you have both a weapon and usable natural weapons, you can make all your attacks with a weapon as normal + 1 attack with all natural weapons at -5 attack and 1/2 strength to damage. I think you can use the multiattack feat to reduce the penalty to -2 to attack. So turn your feets into hooves for beter literal asskicking

    My wife's sorcerer kept making Maximized Magic missile wands. This bumped the CL up so that it had more missiles. Also you have some great pictures.

      How does Maximize Spell change the CL? I though it only changes Variable Numeric Values, Ie, dice?

    Great Video D6, but here are a couple of other suggestions for wands.
    Faerie Fire= While it doesn't do anything other than outline a target with light, it is effective against concealment, such as blur, displacement and the big one invisibility. The wizard having a permanent see invisible on oneself is not very helpful with just pointing "It's over there!" But when you put this on the invisible target it makes it much easier to hit.
    Protection from Evil= While the deflection bonus and resistance bonus are probably less useful at higher levels, it does have one use that most people overlook. listed as the second ability; it allows the target to make an immediate saving throw with a +2 morale bonus against any charm person or dominate person and similar spell cast on them. May not seem like much but it is very useful when you meet the noble ladies father that you think is being mind controlled and tap him with this spell and poof, no longer dominated by a vampire anymore or similar situation.
    Grease= While the save dc isn't what you are looking for, the fact that you can use it to gain a +10 circumstance bonus to CMD and escape artist checks to escape grapples can be useful to escape from a monster's grasp. It also provides a +10 bonus to avoid grapples, so it can be a kind of a before battle buff spell if you know that the next step will be in the middle of a room with tentacle things. Freedom of Movement is much better, but if that isn't an option (or you only got one prepared), it can help the character get out.
    Comprehend Languages= That text that is in Abyssal and no one understands it, poof, now you can.
    Lesser Restoration= Because ability damage happens often as levels go up and the paladin version is only level one.
    Keep Watch= Don't need to sleep for a character. Especially good for the heavy armor user, since they don't have to take off their armor and be vulnerable at night. Especially good in hostile environments where sleep can be problematic.
    Haste= Although it is very expensive, the party will love it when you use this spell...and you'll love it even more when your familiar uses it for you.
    Now couple the fact that you don't provoke aoos when casting the spell from the wand, if you store them in your handy haversack, you don't provoke an aoo for taking it out as a move action. So you can, in essence, have a wand of shocking grasp on your rogue, move action take it out, standard action cast shocking grasp from it and then touch someone and zappo. And if you flank, sneak attack.
    As far as other class analysis go, I would like to see ones for the occultist, the hunter and the brawler and if you are willing to touch 3rd party material, the psychic warrior.
    Oh, you can also come up with some monster analysis videos. Kobolds, dragons, liches, stuff like that.
    Lastly, race videos for kobolds, kitsunes and maybe the catfolk.

      Scrolls can work for a lot of these, since you are unlikely to need 50 castings of many of them. Certainly, I like the idea of having a set of wands for the Protection from alignment spells.

    For utility, you could make a wand of break at first caster level. cheaper than an adamantine dagger, and you can use on locks, doors, etc. unnatended items, if I remember, automatically fails their saves (unless it's a magic item if I'm correct)

    I don't understand why no-one brings up a wand of Shield. Even at CL 1 it's 10 rounds of +4 shield bonus, same as a tower shield but without having to worry about being encumbered. Unless I'm missing something it would be a wonderful way to make anyone who doesn't use a shield to get a solid AC boost.

    • @d6damage93
      @d6damage93  5 лет назад

      There are a couple of problems with a wand of shield. First, shield has a range of personal, that means that whoever wants the shield bonus has to use the wand. Second, because of the short duration, the best time to use the wand is at start of combat and at that point there may be more important things you need to do. It's not a bad idea for a wand and you can get around its drawbacks.

    In order to craft wands what are the minimum prerequisites? For example, as a cleric wishing to craft a CL1 obscuring mist wand what would I need?
    Additionally, if a spell is on my domain list but not on my class caster list can I craft it? For example, only a cleric with the growth domain has access to enlarge. Can he craft a wand of enlarge?

    • @NeverWinterguild
      @NeverWinterguild 7 лет назад

      You need the "Craft Wand" feat, have the gold to pay for the item (375 x lvl of the spell [in this case, obscuring mist is a lvl 1 spell] x caster lvl [you can create a wand with a lower caster lvl, but not higher than what you have]), the material components for 50 uses of the spell (in this case, since there isn't one, you don't need to provide one) and have the spell prepared in your list if you are an wizard or cleric (if you are a sorcerer, you just need to have a spell slot available and known the spell). then you need to roll a skill check to see if you can create the wand (in this case, you can use either spellcraft, craft(jewelry), craft (sculptures) or profession (woodcuter)). for each 1.000 gold the wand cost (base price, not crafting price), it takes a day to make, and you are unable to use the spellslot for the magic of the wand for the day (because you actually use that to craft the wand).
      there is a more precise information on the d20pfsrd site, or even on paizo.
      hoped that helped.

    another good level 1 wand is the moment of greatness : double all morale bonuses on the target. If you cast greater heroism beforhand it is a + 8 to attack, saves and skill checks. if there is a barbarian in the party, the rages bonus to str, con and will saves are morale bonus. As well as the saves bonus from the suprstition rage power (that you can pump with humain favored class bonus). It buff so much a barb saves it is impossible for him to fail a save unless he roll a 1 for 1 minute

    I don't really agree with Shocking Grasp or Burning hands as wands. Shocking Grasp maybe as CL1 for a rogue to sneak attack with against enemies with high AC or DR but no resistances.
    If I am dealing with Trolls, that is what acid, Alchemist fire, and even torches are for.
    Swarms are kind of there own brand of pain in the ass. Outside of the basic rat/bat swarm that you can kill with Alchemical items, you really have to either know they are a risk ahead of time so you can buy a swambane clasp, or throw on a swarm suit, or actually prep AoE spells worth using.
    Magic Missile is one that I can see actually upping the CL on for the very reason you mentioned. Incorporeal creatures are a pain, but most have enough HP that 1d4+1 is barely a scratch.
    A good wand for those who are Evil and want to make a profit is Summon Cacodaemon. Level 2 spell so be ready to fork over the 4500gp price tag. Upside is commoner souls are worth 100gp each, so 50 commoners means 5000gp worth of souls at minimum.

      you can't sneak Attack with spells unless you are an arcane trickster

    • @thanatos7430
      @thanatos7430 7 лет назад

      smile444 You sir/madam do not understand the basics of Sneak Attack. You can sneak attack with weapon-like spells, which are any spell that require an attack roll. Now, with weapon-like volley spells, Scorching Ray being a prime example, you would only get sneak attack on the first ray.
      Now, the Arcane Tricker capstone at level 10 is the only way to deliver Sneak Attack Damage with an AoE spell like Fireball, but that is it.

    Can we talk for just a second about how weak of wizards Harry Potter and Voldimort are? Take away their wands and they're nothing. A 2nd level Rogue with a few ranks in Slight of Hand could beat either one of them.

    • @smile-tl9in
      @smile-tl9in 7 лет назад +5

      Harry potter wizards are low levels wizard who take a wand as bonded object. They can't beat the 20+spell level caster level check. Voldemort can tough. He throw a fireball with his hand in the films. He must be high level (probably a 11 lvl + necromancer lich beacause he can cast finger of death/avada kedavra and have philacteras/horcruxes, with the silent spell feat)

    • @ishmiel21
      @ishmiel21 7 лет назад +2

      No one in the Harry Potter Universe can cast any spell without a wand. They are all weak wizards who would get defeated by any other spell caster from any other book series. Volamort is the weakest BBG f all time from any fantasy series.

    Can I set up any wand, by say tying it to a tree or book shelf and when the enemy approaches I activate my wand to shoot said enemy, like a magic claymore mine?
    I see your wands have a holster. Do you have to be touching the wand bare handed to activate it? How do beings in cold climates use wands? How about beings with no hands?
    Could I mount the wands to my wrist like Boba Fett, allowing me to hold a staff, dagger, key, leash, reins or whatever and still wield the wand?
    Wand with one charge of burning hands remaining, left in bail of oily rags. Cast magic mouth to activate wand when the enemy finally breaks down door, room is engulfed in flames killing or deterring all pursuers.
    Are these all DM's call? More and more people are thinking outside the box these days...dam MacGyver!
    Asking for a fiend,
    Adam

      Here are the rules for spell trigger;
      Spell Trigger: Spell trigger activation is similar to spell completion, but it’s even simpler. No gestures or spell finishing is needed, just a special knowledge of spellcasting that an appropriate character would know, and a single word that must be spoken. Spell trigger items can be used by anyone whose class can cast the corresponding spell. This is the case even for a character who can’t actually cast spells, such as a 3rd-level paladin. The user must still determine what spell is stored in the item before she can activate it. Activating a spell trigger item is a standard action and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
      To me user indicates wielder meaning you have to be holding, or at least wielding it in some way like the way you want to be like boba fett. so hanging it in a trap situation I would disagree with and I'm pretty sure magic mouth specifically states it can't issue command words. I'd look more but i need to go to work now.

      Zero level spell wands wouldn't be bad, but that's only because they require the least investment from you. If you're approaching wand crafting as a money making venture, the type of wand doesn't matter that much, only how much you're willing to invest.

    How can you ascertain how many charges a wand has? Is there a means to recharge wands?

    • @DHTheAlaskan
      @DHTheAlaskan 7 лет назад +1

      As the video states, it has 50 charges(Usually the DM tells you or you can make a spellcraft check to figure it out, you normally find wands with all their charges but some DMs will spring the partially used wand on you), the pathfinder srd doesn't state anything about recharges, you would probably need to roll the spellcraft check again or have the wizard who made the wand make you a new one. If memory serve correctly the reason wands have 50 charges is that it cannot be recharged. Stuff like Staves and rods have fewer charges but those charges are regained at dawn the following day.

    • @Riverojhonathan
      @Riverojhonathan 6 лет назад

      DGHavoc907 that is correct and most dms roll the amount of charges d100 divided by 2 is the method I usually use

    • @linus4d1
      @linus4d1 6 лет назад

      As a DM I figure the amount of charges of a wand based on APL and the spell itself. I don't want to give them something too powerful at low levels, but giving a level 1 wizard a wand with 10 charges is pretty cool for players at that level. It also reduces the cost of the wand, making them more affordable

  • @smile-tl9in
    @smile-tl9in 7 лет назад

    i don't think wands with direct attack spells are worth it (except maybe magic missile for its polyvalence). While it is true that if you have a spells you like to cast each fight, a wand allows you to spare some spells slots who, especially at low level (1-4) where you really don't have enough spell slots. But you will get better resulst with an nice all around nice buff like enlarge person.
    Also a wand of cure light wounds should be the first magic item the party gets. Your cleric/druid/bard/etc...Will be able to use their slots for much more interesting spells (Outside of an emergency, you should always heal outside of combat, Healing is not efficient in pathfinder)
    For swarm, trolls and ghost, you will probably get more for less money by using alchemical weapons.
    By the way, your familliar share your skill ranks. If he can hold the wand and speak (feasable if he get a ring of animal speach, or if it is an Advanced fammiliar via the feat Advanced familliar,or if he is a raven familliar, or if you used an awaken spell on him). With enough ranks in umd and wands (or even staffs) you can turn it into a secondary caster
    Wands have another advantage. They can cost less than 1000 po wich means you only need a day to craft one, avoiding the principal problem of crafting : the dawntime necessary. Unless you use the spell for not needing sleep

    • @danjarvis5127
      @danjarvis5127 5 лет назад

      With the right type of attack spell (any with an attack roll that deals damage.) can be used with Sneak Attack and rogues get a high UMD and Counterfeit Mage can succeed with a single wand at lvl 4, and if you put feats into it auto succeed at lvl 5-6.
