I just got the Starlink package today. I had an issue I thought I should relate. I am in the northern hemisphere so expected a northern view which I had. I mounted the base first. I didn't notice until it was screwed down that there was a keyway. The keyway was to the south. I hooked everthing up and waited for it to hook up and I waited and I waited. I started to think "is that keyway important?" Maybe the head doesn't rotate 360 degrees? It is possible. So I went back up the ladder and removed the head and turned the base 180 degrees. Turn the power back on and it hooked up in seconds. Long story short the keyway is important apparently and it doesn't say that anywhere that I saw. If you are in the northern hemisphere put the key on the north end and on the south end if in the southern hemisphere. Maybe I am wrong about something but that is my experince first day. It now works and it is fast and that is all I care.

With a 2 1/2yr wait I sure hope we get the awesome high speed it promises. We’ve been stuck with horrible internet from the one and only company that offered us a whole 10Gb on a good day lol…..speed test usually shows it going up and down between 1gb-7gb and upload oh lord we’re talking kbps…..one game can take almost 2 days to download. Bro! It was so easy!! I’m here now, middle of nowhere, no cell, no cable, no nothing… and starlink is faster than Xfinite at home!
I haven’t tested the range to the barn yet cause it’s been raining…. It I was thinking, I have a outdoor plug that’s close to the house and a little closer to the barn with no obstructions, I might build a little waterproof spot for it there if need be…
My dish is not even in a good spot(according to the app) and it works flawlessly, have not had one single interruption of any kind so far.
I need to get the longer cord tho, I haven’t looked at the store yet, can you connect the 2 cords together, or it’s one or the other? I feel like I want more than 150…unless I do my starshed idea then I can use the 75…

I obviously don't have that out there as to why I bought this. Also, how did you connect your tv to this, was it the $35 box you mentioned or do you mirror from a device. The Bell Mobility in Edmonton was a bit confusing, we have shaw in Edmonton, can I connect to that?

    • @RedBarnHomestead

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you need a connection while setting it up. I would download and sign into the app, but after that, once you plug in the unit, you will connect to it's wifi and go from there. It should come pre-connected to your account, so once it hooks up, you're in. They use these things at sea, and there is no internet out there for sure.

After 30 more days they sent more equipment. It has been 4 days and I still cannot get a connection. The security key was not included with new equipment. There is no security key on my windows network connection, I tried the numbers on bottom of modem. So, It has been 2 months since I bought Starlink and I have had 5 days of service

The whole point of starlink isn't its amazing speeds....which are amazing, but its ability to be anywhwere. Starlink does not compete with Fibre or Cable or even good DSL, but a lot of folks, like myself, have satilite, cellular, or radio as our only way to connect. Of these, Starlink rules them all. If you can get a land connection, great, do it, but if you are remote, it is by far the best service out there...if you can get it.
