  • SMS Lines switching industries in the Morrisville industrial park with Baldwin S12 #301. Thanks to the crew for being super friendly and allowing me to stand in the locations I did.

Reminds me of my youth, watching SP S-12's switching Brooklyn Yards. The sounds are like music to my ears.

Reminds me of the way our Alcos sound here on Adirondack Railroad.

The M.U. hooks up make me wander if that is a former Pennsy unit. If so, does the M.U. system still work?
The system was developed in the PRR shops to allow the Baldwins, which used a pneumatic m.u. system to run with EMD and ALCO units, which used the AAR system.

what does “SMS” stand for ? have driven thru this area countless times on I-295, always glance at the CSX yard alongside, never realizing there was more to it than that… great posting… thanks!

I like the classic switchers man. Are you planning to take a railfan trip back to Mn or WI?
