- A helpful walkthrough of our new 'Poor Things: A Novel Guide' digital project by digital designer, Rachel Loughran.
Rachel is a writer, editor and designer specialising in digital curation. She has held editorial positions at Harper’s magazine amongst others. Rachel collaborated with us in 2021 on her interactive, multimedia exhibition Gray: Beyond the Horizon, which invites its audience to journey through the many pages of Gray's seminal novel Lanark: A Life in 4 Books (1981). The work was first exhibited alongside the 2014 screen-print of Lanark’s book jacket at GSA's postgraduate degree show. It now has a permanent home at The Alasdair Gray Archive.

I watched the movie due to all the praise, but found it lacking. Curious about the author's original vision, I decided to read the book, which I found fascinating!
This will be an invaluable resource in digesting its contents. Big thanks to everyone involved in creating this!
Pity it couldn’t be set in Glasgow. Taking Gray out of Glasgow is like taking Dublin out of Joyce.
Pity the film had to drop the double-take structure Gray took from James Hogg.
