I’m dealing with it. If I had known about this I certainly would not have bought one. Now they have me going thru the troubleshooting and nothing is working.
It's running out of useable RAM. Increase your paging file size to around 8gb, by default it's at 1gb so you don't need a masters in computer science to figure out what happens as soon as the Deck uses it's small (and shared) 16gn of RAM.
Try setting your TDP to 10 watts (11-13 is fine) and your scaling filter to FSR with a sharpness of 3, it fixed my issue and I had 3 days straight with no crashes
11-13 seems the safest bet for AA+ games. I had this crashing problem twice, first one I had to factory reset and only worked for like a week then I was suggested a bio reset. Worked for about 1 month, then it started happening again. I used to play with 10 watts on most games, but then that seemed to become an issue. I use mostly 11-13 even for older games like the Witcher 3, and 13 for Baldur’s Gate 3 and all seem to work well. It mostly never crashes when it’s plugged.
Actually, most of your crashes are down to running out of RAM and the Deck only having by default, a 1gb paging file. This is a simple fix, making the paging file larger. Google and you'll find it's around 6 lines of code in Konsole. Good luck y'all.
I think my steam deck is broken lol one time it crashed before it could even finish the boot animation. It keeps on crashing each 5 minutes usually and I have even factory reset it nothing is working.
I'm having horrible issues with prototype 2 crashing crashing crashing not impressed I even factory reseted the whole thing and it still crashes and now it has a steam Cloud error and it won't boot the game it stays in a never-ending boot loop saying steam Cloud error over and over again I'm not impressed I never had any problems until prototype 2
for me it is a game by game bases. some games freeze after about 10 to15 mins while other can last up to 45 mins and beyond. Don't know exactly but, i think it is more of a game issue than a steam deck issue (please correct me if I'm wrong) EDIT: I have Re-Faced (as i heard it was called) my steam deck which I believe is the recovery method in this video
But look at it this way - every single game crashes for me. If it runs on PC, it should run on Steam Deck because that's what they are advertising and I paid a lot of money. So I'd consider it a Steam Deck problem nonetheless. It IRKS me that they haven't tried to figure out what's going on
I have a steam deck and sometimes high demanding game crashes but I'm okay with it lol it's a handheld low end PC handheld not a ultra graphic tier gaming handheld
