  • The Western side of the Azuero Peninsula is less populated than the Eastern side of the Azuero. It's known as the "green" side because it is lush and green with magnificent Ocean views.
    Meet John and Anita who moved to the Western Azuero in Torio Panama eight years ago. Their exquisite property has amazing ocean views and a private beach. They talk about it's like to live on the Western Azuero Peninsula in Panama.
    John and Anita offer retreats for artists. For more details, see ExploreAmazingP...
    Torio is a small town with a population of about 300 people with limited amenities. So, John and Anita have to drive about 1 1/2 hours to Santiago for most shopping.

    I liked that he this guy is so upfront, not sugarcoating anything. He was not afraid to say that the cost of living in Panama is the same as it would have cost you in the States or more. Thank you Jackie!

    • @PanamaRelocationTours
      @PanamaRelocationTours  3 года назад +4

      The cost of living depends on how you live. If you are willing to downsize, you can significantly reduce your cost of living. But if you want a 4000sf house with an ocean view, your cost of living will likely be the same.

    • @fanfare100
      @fanfare100 3 года назад +2

      Yeah, if you insist on buying American products, then you will not reap the benefits of the lower cost of living that Panama affords. Remember that American products are "imports" in Panama so you will pay more. But if you buy local or buy at the duty free zones then you'll make out like a bandit. So, if you're looking to live much better than you are accustomed, you may need to shift your tastes and preferences from what you are accustomed to and shift to things you haven't yet tried.
      A simplest of examples would be to buy a local brand of corn flakes instead of one that was grown, and made in the United States and then shipped to Panama. The price difference is quite significant. Same with ice cream, etc. :D

    • @fanfare100
      @fanfare100 3 года назад

      They seem to have access to a main road. He may have paid for the last mile. Paying for the last mile if you're too secluded from the main road can run you a couple grand but it's not part of your recurring fees. He says he gets 10MBps. So his monthlies may be about $80.
      Now, if you are nowhere near a main road there are still ways to get Internet, but these would be non-standard. Two which I've seen people do with success is to rent an antenna where there is good internet within site of your abode. For example, on a hill or mountain. Then microwave your internet in a beam from that antenna to your abode where you would also have another antenna and an RF modem which you could feed into a standard WiFi router. Such antenna rentals can cost an additional $20/month, plus you'll likely pay a $500 fee for setup, plus your normal monthly internet fees.
      And yet another option if you are absolutely away from it all, in a secluded island or valley in your peaceful cabin homestead, is Satellite Internet. There are several options and providers. One that comes to mind off the top of my head is a company called Antenas y Sistemas. But there are also others.
      The figures I mentioned here are all ballpark, in case you do not receive a response right away. But just know that there are options. I have another option, which is hilarious which almost costs nothing in comparison. But it's breakfast time. Maybe I'll mention it when I get back. Oh, don;t worry, it's legal. lol All the best and in anticipation: Welcome to Panama!

      You need at least $1000 a month in lifetime income to qualify for getting residency in Panama. If you don't make that much, you would not be able to get a visa to live in Panama. Plus you'll have lawyer fees to get a Visa. Check out our videos where people are paying %350 to $450 a month in rent. If you want a decent place to live, that is about as low as you can go in Panama for a furnished house with utilities includes.

    • @pawshands9706

      @@PanamaRelocationTours thanks i am aware of this. I qualify but my point is that i don't wish to live in expat enclaves with expensive gated communities that keeps people in my income bracket away. For example, while in Bocas town, I live in a 1 bdrm cabaña which had a roomy terraza and land for planting which cost me $200 a month. It was at slight elevation and close to local markets and the lanchas that would take me to the cayos, including Bocas Del Toro. I just never see people like me being represented on here. Maybe some not so well known areas that offer so much of local day to day living at more reasonable costs? I don't know if Jackie deals with us?

    Just wondering, how much does a Gardner cost? Also it looks very volcanic, what is the volcanic/earthquake history of Panama? What happened to the tour?

    • @PanamaRelocationTours
      @PanamaRelocationTours  3 года назад +1

      there are mountains in the area but no volcano! A Gardener is about $25-$30 a day. Panama does get little earthquakes once in awhile but unless you are really sitting still, you rarely even feel them.

    • @fanfare100
      @fanfare100 3 года назад +1

      A gardener in that neck of the woods runs about $15 to $40. That ranges from a helper to a master gardener and from from half a day to a full day. But the obviously don't have to come every day either.

      @johnkorte7784 3 года назад +1

    • @johnkorte7784
      @johnkorte7784 3 года назад +7

      Actually Neil, we DID struggle to make this kind of dream a reality (50 years of hard work for both my wife and me). We didn't "just buy in". We both worked hard for 30 years, retired, I am 74 now, and still working with a travel business that allows us to have the lifestyle we are able to enjoy. I started out growing up in a very poor family on welfare, left home at age 16, and never went back. Also, we didn't just "want to get out of America", rather, we wanted to seek a life of adventure and experience new and different cultures; we wanted to explore and live in areas different than where we came from. Just clarifying.
