That's not always true about California. It depends on where you live. If you are in LA, San Diego, beach cities, etc., then yes, you call sell your house and buy 2 in Prescott, but in a lot of areas of CA, you aren't going to get those extremely high prices. We have been looking at houses in Prescott for 2 years now and there will be no way we can sell our current house in CA for enough money to buy a similar one in Prescott. Everything in our price range is either a mobile home or a total dump. Guess we missed the boat on getting an affordable house in Prescott.
Many of the houses I am looking at need a lot of work. Does the median list price mean you need no improvements and can deduct for improvements such as a new roof?
Hi Elizabeth! Great Question. The median sales price includes ALL homes, including the ones that need work, some updating and some TLC AND new homes that may be in near perfect condition. Sometimes a Seller may give concessions or take a lower price on a home that needs some work. Watch our video on "How to save Money before making an offer on a home" video ruclips.net/video/MGXRFkTjGo8/видео.html for some tips. Are you interested in older homes with some character or would you like a newer home or maybe a brand new construction home?
We just purchased a home in Prescott (Timber Ridge) asking was $650K we got it for $615K cash. Do you think we got a good deal? Thoughts on the area? Thanks so much!
Hello! Thanks for your inquiry. Timber Ridge is a lovely area. Were you able to review comparable sales for the area prior to submitting your offer? I am familiar with the home you purchased. There is another one under contract, listed for 599,000, older and a bit larger, but a bit more dated. I think you did well! Congrats and welcome to Prescott!
Excelllent information! Thank you Jessica and Lisa.
Thank you for watching!
