He is teaching how to lay the paint on the canvas, how to sketch the basic draw, to learn a technique, don't be afraid, he approaches a painting in so many ways, he is so dead on on what he does and teaches, this guy is a real great master!
I love this painting style. So much freer and bolder than mainstream painting techniques. Even if someone doesn't like this style, doing a study or two in this technique will absolutely get someone over their timidity and fear of oil painting. Just let loose, and play.
I am agreeing with you on the beautiful painting and the artists skill, however, if you commissioned an artist to paint your portrait for your family, would you not require a good likeness? Of course you would.
Daniel...My question was not directed at you. There was another post that has apparently been deleted that mentioned something about me trying to peddle my book or something. It was bizarre.
thank you. your technique of using the knife and fingers are inspiring . I have been looking for a new way to paint and you have helped me to now move forward with my art.Are we watching an art master? I think so!
There are a lot of great lessons in this tutorial. No translation needed. If finger painting bothers you, these modern techniques from the past 150 years aren't for you. Because I think all the direct portrait artist use there fingers at the middle tone stage. Zorn used his fingers. Sergeant did too. And so do most of the more recent portrait artists. That doesn't mean you HAVE TO, but don't degenerate using the fingers to blend in the middle composition, and "I want to see brush strokes" isn't a reason, those come in at the end to create a loose effect. If you want to know what brush and paint color Igor is using, you are asking the wrong questions. This is all about painting with a towel, a finger or a brush and show light with a simple palate. If you don't know what that means, and you don't speak Russian, this isn't the video for you. This is a fast study in oil for open-minded, direct artists. No charcoal sketch, no hyper-realists, no rules-based folks. Just a lesson in painting from life, wet into wet, an immediate take of the planes on a human face..
painting is beautiful. but minimal likeliness to model -the model has wide face and rounded cheeks, while the painting has a narrow face and slim high cheekbones. Also the model has mouth angles going very prominently low , beyond the line of the lips. these two traits are the hallmark of the models face, yet neither one is found on the painted face.whats the model for , then?
N G You are absolutely correct, nor would I want to, but how clever of you to know this, without knowing me or what I can or cannot do. I would say distasteful is using foul language here, which you seem to be rather good at.
if your reply (N.G.) is a reply to my observation, then pathetic is on you. I sad the man paints beautifully, but then what is the point of teaching to paint portrait, if you dont get the portrait (of the model). I didint say he doesnt know how to paint, but I d rather say he hurries a bit while pai nting, and there he loses the proportions of the face, in which case it can be any other face similar to the model, but not THE face of THE model . I think he just needs to slow down a bit, and then he gets everything he should!! why are you so rude NG?
Hi Vera, I think something has been lost in translation. I agreed with your observation, which was correct and the painting unlike the model, I also stated it was beautifully painted. I did not say anything rude, I think you have got me mixed up with somebody else.
Wonderful technique and painting, but where is the likeness? One would never recognize this girl from the painting! Nose, Mouth and shape of Face are incorrect. With due respect, perhaps he should read my book 'Why Measure?'
If those were both looking at me I could only presume the same thought from each. It is not a photographic copy exactly. It is what the artist is telling me he sees in her appearance and character
N G Yes, it is a self portrait, painted live and congratulations on your being the first person to give it a negative comment and by the way, do read what I say about Mr. Sakharof's i.e "Beautifully painted" was my quote and I also stated the eyes did not match the subject,, which they do not. You sound like a very angry young woman for some reason.
Why does he paint with his fingers!! The brush work is what makes the artists work. This is finger painting. .I wonder if he could paint with a brush..don't think so.

The paint doesn’t look like the model
Joel Santillan no it doesn’t. Head shape is off
Csodálatos technika! Fantasztikus művész!
It may not be a very good likeness to the model, but it is one hell of a beautiful painting. This artist is exceptionally talented.
I agree, his work is fantastic, however, most artist and their subjects prefer a good likeness.
What are you talking about??
I am agreeing with you on the beautiful painting and the artists skill, however, if you commissioned an artist to paint your portrait for your family, would you not require a good likeness? Of course you would.
Daniel...My question was not directed at you. There was another post that has apparently been deleted that mentioned something about me trying to peddle my book or something. It was bizarre.
Okay, got it.
Aaayyy Dios,me quede en chok !!! Es usted grande.Mis felicitación a la modelo.
thank you. your technique of using the knife and fingers are inspiring . I have been looking for a new way to paint and you have helped me to now move forward with my art.Are we watching an art master? I think so!

Wonderful! Are there any if his videos with English subtitles?
What are the colors on the palette? Especially what red?
genio 👍
I think he likes more his painting than the actual model
I don't think so, she is his wife :-)))
Remarkable painting but it does not look like the model, huh? Still, he makes it look so easy and the looseness of his brushstrokes is just incredible
Spasiba ❤️
he is some crasy guy,i like his tehnic how use every tool, but little of likenes....
Painting at that rate I'm not surprised he missed the likeness.

Who is the artist, please link to his website. Tnx!
Looks more like Anne Hathaway
beautiful portrait but likeness is completely off
How do i translate this to english
this is the girl of his dream, not the real one.
Can you please make some videos in english,??
not same....???
That not canvas?What is this?
The girl in the painting is more beautiful than the model, they don’t look similar
avevo. 14. anni. E. ho. disegnato. con. le. mie. mani. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,tantisime. e. belisime. cose
I wish I could understand the language.
At first i thought ahe was a mannequin....and git startled when she blinked
Y not photograph it and draw?
anonymous anonymous because you won’t have the same effect
The model DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING in what you painted
painting is beautiful. but minimal likeliness to model -the model has wide face and rounded cheeks, while the painting has a narrow face and slim high cheekbones. Also the model has mouth angles going very prominently low , beyond the line of the lips. these two traits are the hallmark of the models face, yet neither one is found on the painted face.whats the model for , then?
Well noted and said Very. Bravo!
N G You are absolutely correct, nor would I want to, but how clever of you to know this, without knowing me or what I can or cannot do.

Hi Vera, your observations are spot on, but perhaps N. G. cannot see this or does not want to.

Nem is hasonlít papi.
It does not look like the model to the painting
Looks like Anne Hathaway and not the model. Likeness isn't there
Wonderful technique and painting, but where is the likeness? One would never recognize this girl from the painting! Nose, Mouth and shape of Face are incorrect. With due respect, perhaps he should read my book 'Why Measure?'
Perhaps you didn't understand Mr Saharov. He said he didn't try to paint a portrait but an etude on "how to start portraying a person"
+Andrzej Adamowicz but at the stage he is, he should have a likeness already
+Janet Garcia show me the rule book where his painting is supposed to adhere to your personal taste.
your argument became invalid when you chose to start trying to pitch your shitty merchandise.
lol honey this has nothing to do with my 'personal taste'
Please, tell this girl to sit down !
Your amazing psy no attention to the losers
I think she looks nothing like her
Mestpupet76 Thank you for you correct observation. I am getting 'stick' from N G because I feel the same.
Not true, although it may do you some good, if only to teach you some manners. By the way, do you draw and paint or are you always incognito?
Daniel McGowan jolok
If those were both looking at me I could only presume the same thought from each.
It is not a photographic copy exactly.
It is what the artist is telling me he sees in her appearance and character
this is painting not photography
Look at the Eyes also, beautifully painted, but they do not belong to this subject.
Have you considered that you look at the subject from a different point from that Mr Sakharov does?
Andrzej Adamowicz worst excuse
N G Yes, it is a self portrait, painted live and congratulations on your being the first person to give it a negative comment and by the way, do read what I say about Mr. Sakharof's i.e "Beautifully painted" was my quote and I also stated the eyes did not match the subject,, which they do not. values are off
Elle aurait pu être assise, non ?
Why does he paint with his fingers!! The brush work is what makes the artists work. This is finger painting. .I wonder if he could paint with a brush..don't think so.
does not look like her though
Looks nothing like her….
Beaucoup de blablas pour un résultat banal ....
wasted time. No ENGLISH!!! REALLy?
I understood everything he was talking about and I don't speak much Russian. There are English videos that you can watch before this that will make you understand what he is doing and what he is saying without understanding the language. Check out this site: ruclips.net/user/DrawMixPaint.
aha! now i know you arent good at portraits.....you painted a different person.
He's a sculptor not a painter. Fingers.. terrible ! The brush work is what makes the artists work.
Yes brushwork is important. But really the focus needs to be on the end painting. How you get there doesn't matter. The free, painterly brushwork can be put in at the end, as if to indicate it came out very easily. But it doesn't really every come out easily.
