Great video about Maine’s craft beer scene! Sorry to have missed you. We have also started Maine’s premier non alcoholic brewery, 1820 Brewing Co., and these craft brews are all available at our tasting room. From March through December, our tasting room and beautiful beer garden are open Thursday-Saturday 12-5 PM. Come visit us where the east coast craft beer movement all started. 🍻
Woah! Thanks for stopping by! Both of your places will be definitely be on the list for the next trip!
If you are a parent and your young kid(s) are tagging along, the Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine is right next to Bissell Brothers. It was a fun place to hang out before Bissell Brothers opened. I did that with my wife and 2 year old daughter while visiting Portland for a couple days. Then afterwards you can drive back to where you're staying and do the walkable stretch of breweries like Austin St., Rising Tide, Shipyard, Lone Pine, etc. It's so awesome how easy it is to traverse the city by foot. It's a trip I would do again in a heartbeat.
Good point!
Portland is an amazing experience. My wife and I make an annual trip every spring. We always drive past Portland to Freeport for Maine Beer Co. then back to the city. We did 13 breweries in 1 day there once. Not the recommended dosage for a day though.
Thanks for the continued great content Steve!🍻
MBC is absolutely worth it as well! Its such a great beer town!
Try out Barreled Souls... and make sure you get a hotel nearby lol
I've been watching your channel for a few months. So much, that I purchased the Clawhammer 10 gal 240v today. I let them know I watch your channel.
I love beer and love cooking, so brewing should be a nice fit. Thank you for the great content.
Thank you so much!! I really hope you enjoy the system as much as I do. Feel free to reach out if you need any help with it.
I had the brightside ipa when I was in Maine a few years ago. One of my favorites to date.
Another excellent offering from Lone Pine!
Oh man. This brings me back to my trip to Portland.. my wife and I drank through downtown one day and then the industrial park the next. Without question the best beer city we’ve been to
Perfect! It is a fantastic place to enjoy some outstanding beer for a weekend
Great video, AB! Great list of breweries and very similar to the ones I hit. I went to Portland with some friends a few years ago and it was great! I love Lone Pine, GoodFire, and Allagash(best brewery tour). Unfortunately, we missed Rising Tide and Austin Street but I’m hoping to make it up to Portland again sometime soon so I can hit those places.
Thanks! The selection is amazing! Austin street and rising tide are phenomenal
Come out to Ft Collins! There’s a pretty great beer scene out here!
Also can’t speak highly enough of the beer scene in Tampa/St Pete. Sooo many great spots down there. If you really want to put your liver to the test go down for Tampa Bay Beer Week!
Noted! I'll need to get there sometime!
the lobster rolls from eventide are legendary
I hear only the finest stickers are in the Portland Bathrooms! Loved that place!
Haha there's quite a bit of competition and yours stood out!
Portland is one of my favorite cities to visit for my job, but I really only hang out on the water. I had no idea of the brewery scene! Can't wait to go back and hit list of breweries!
Hope I've helped make your next visit a lot more fun!
My favorite beer cities are the walkable ones!
Can't beat it, nothing worse than spending more money on ubers than on the beer!
Cool you met John & Mike. Their channel is another favorite of mine.
Great video!
They are awesome dudes!
Love this! As a Mainah that enjoys your content, I love the representation and have been to these breweries many times
Glad to represent! Its such a fantastic place to visit
Yooooo, Sacred Profane Brewing, sooooo close. All the Czech Lager hype. hype. hype.
Thats awesome! I'll need to check them out sometime!
damn, i had no idea. just another reason to visit (or live in) Maine. awesome mini tour.
It was awesome!
Dude, thanks for putting so much effort into this video. I'll definitely put these on my list the next time I'm in the area. Also, please do a collab with Brew Dudes if at all possible!
Glad you enjoyed it! We talked about putting something together, I would definitely like to work with them!
Thanks for creating such a comprehensive guide. It looks like you had a nice trip. That was cool that you ran into The Brew Dudes. Those guys are great! Cheers!
It was awesome and very fun to run into them!
I live right next to Portland!!! I go there all the time❤️❤️
Can't beat that!
hell yeah brew dash dudes, was that just a happy coincidence?
Yes it was, they spotted me before I saw them but it was super cool to see them and hang out for a bit. Great guys.
Sounds like a great trip. The brew dudes were on RUclips when I got into homebrewing beer around 2010.
It was awesome, and it was great to meet the brew dudes!
Cool video. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching!
Great Video AB! One day I'll make the Trek out to Maine.
Thanks man! It's worth it!
Portland is my favorite place to drink beer man! Gotta love those varieties
Very easy to walk everywhere which is awesome too!
I feel you nailed the ones to visit. Had you just stopped at Belleflower, this would be absolutely perfect. Your visit was comprehensive and highlighted the cream of the crop. Cheers!
I know! Next time I'll need to prioritize it
I used to visit Portland every summer coming from Canada up north. It changed a lot in the 3 years since my last visit. Seadog is a must go if its anything like it was before.
It has definitely changed a lot, last time I was there for any long amount of time was around 10 years ago
Hi there.
I honestly don't have plans to visit Portland in the next couple hundred years, but I get a great english listening practice with this kind of videos.
Really enjoyed it
Greetings from Córdoba, Argentina
Glad I can help out that way! Cheers!
Looks like a great beer trip!!! I’ll put it on my list, cheers 😂
We gotta get you out to the east coast!!
@@TheApartmentBrewer oh man that would be sweet!!!!
Portland has some great breweries! I'm a big fan of bunker and battery Steele. Also - check out King's head pub just off of commercial st. Sometime. They have at least 30 micros on tap, mostly from the Portland area.
Nice! I'll have to be sure I hit it on my next trip!
Portland is PHENOMENAL! The state helps breweries to open by fast tracking applications.
I HIGHLY recommend the following along the coast:
Tributary - owned by Todd Mott (Harpoon IPA fame) - Kittery, NE
Banded Brewing - Biddeford
Lucky Pigeon - Biddeford (gluten free beer)
Barreled Souls- my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE brewery, bar none. An absolute must for any visitors. Just beware this place brews some potent beers: 10, 12, 14% ABV is normal.
Awesome! I'll put those on the list!
@TheApartmentBrewer I know they're outside Portland but Saco and Biddeford are pretty close... maybe 20 min or so.
Btw, when are we doing a collab? Would love to have ya down to brew! I'm in RI.
Not a brewery but Novare Res in downtown Portland is an absolute must of you’re there for the beer scene. It’s a world class beer bar. Literally.
I'll put it on my list for next time!
Agreed! They always have an incredible selection. Last time in Portland it was my last stop every night.
I’d be interested in you making a rice lager if you haven’t ! i’ve been combing through your videos because i’m interested in the hobby. Subbed
Welcome to the channel! I think the last rice lager I made was the american light lager I did with Lutra a few years back. I should do another.
I would need a life alert necklace in Portland.
Hahaha
Yooo you legit may have changed my vacation plans for Boston this august to have a couple days there lol 😂
Haha excellent! Start in Boston, work your way up the coast and spend a few days in Portland!
@@TheApartmentBrewer honestly the original plan was to go into Boston then up to Vermont to hit up alchemist. So definitely a lot of ground to cover in that beercation now.
Too bad you missed Belleflower Brewing Company! Their Barn Hex stands out from the crowd of NEIPAs. It's crazy good! I have been trying to mimic it in my home brew, but I cant figure out how they get their hop flavor and aroma to punch with virtually no bitterness and a smooth texture. It's almost like oat milk. I'm getting closer I think with cold side only hops and heavy oat additions... maybe. Only, now hop creep is an issue even with a diacetyl rest Adventures in homebrewing...
It's a cannot miss place for my next visit!
I’d love to take a motorcycle trip up the coast from Virginia to Portland with my wife and hit all of the breweries
Do it!
I do have to say, Seattle has really big big beer seen, great for if you want some West Coast style IPAs. The city itself has a lot of GOOD breweries and lots breweries in the cities that are satellites to Seattle. If you are ever in Seattle you Georgetown Brewing is a must. I'm real spoiled up here in the PNW. Bend, Oregon is also great place to go brewery hopping even though it's like 4 hour drive from Portland, OR. My Friend went there with his brothers and had a great time. Love the vids, Sounds like you had a lot of fun in Portland, Maine, looks like a great brewery experience.
I really want to do a big PNW trip sometime just because of how good the offerings are out there!
lol😂 In the transcript “the Brew Dudes” has transcribed as “the brew nudes”. That’s something I don’t want to think about!
Hahaha wow youtube certainly got that one wrong
A few years back I did what was called a brews cruze in Atlanta. Need to do another because a half dozen or more have opened since then. If your travel bring you to Atlanta my recommendation is school house brewing its also a full homebrew store as well. There is so much variety. Another about 45 minutes outside Atlanta drowned valley brewing have a seasonal hazy session ipa called fighter fluid it was my first hazy and kinda set the bar ridiculously high. My wife is from Lewiston, Maine so I might have to do your Portland run.
I was in atlanta late last year briefly but I have heard very good things about the beer scene there. I'll need to come back!
Bissell Brothers😇
Delicious!!
😎👍🏻👍🏻🍺🍺🍺🍺
Cheers!
Welcome to New Jersey anytime
Thanks! I'll have to make my way down there sometime.
If you liver could hack it a front range of the Rockies week starting in Cheyenne WY. and ending in Colorado Springs would give you over 200 breweries to choose from. Also Tampa has a few awesome ones Woven water, Copertail brewing and Cigar City to name a few.
I'll put them on the list!
Come out West to Portland, OR and I’ll show you a beer city!
Its on my list!
You need To go to oxbow man! There's a place called duckfat you need to eat at right there
I wish we made it there!
West Coast has the best by far
Have you been to the east coast?
@@TheApartmentBrewer I have not lol
It's all good PR. Per Capita is a massive caveat. Chicago, Denver and Seattle are all better beer cities when it comes to number and variety of breweries.
