why we adopted my niece Eryn.

- Hey Larlees, todays video is different. This is the story of why Tyler and I adopted my niece Eryn. This video was hard to film, and to be candid I filmed it 3 times and every time watching it back it didn't feel right. It was me sitting there telling the story of my sister, Eryn, and Tyler. I felt like these are not all my stories to tell. They should be here telling their own stories, so thats just what I did. I opened my platform and asked them the hard questions. I'm so grateful they were willing to be so open and share some of their most vulnerable moments with thousands of people. People aren’t perfect and never have been. Addiction is a real thing that affects so many people and families. My sister is working on getting better everyday. We are all so proud of her and her journey i'm so happy she is here to share her story. Thank you all so much for watching. We love you guys.
ps:
Lets keep the conversation going. Teen Pregnancy, Addiction, low income SO many people have struggles and they shouldn’t feel alone.
What were/are some struggles you have faced? How did you overcome them?

You could say that with most severe diseases though
I am about 40 days clean off heroin.
Congrats! Keep it pushing! You Matter.. You are Special.. You are Worth it ❤
Yeeeeey keep it up love you girl ❤
Keep it up kid xx
Every day you're getting stronger 💪
Congratulations!! Keep it up! ❤️
my moms currently in federal prison due to drugs and she’s been out of my life for almost 8 years I’m 16 now, and my aunt has taken me in, I am beyond grateful for her.
I feel so sorry for u :(

the same for me but i am only twelve.
Sofia Martinez: My mom is in jail right now for domestic violence but also is a drug user I’m so happy that you have your aunt 😊 my grandpa adopted me and my two sisters I’m the youngest I’m 14 . Drugs have made my mom schizophrenic which is a disease cause from using drugs and bipolar you are so brave for sharing this Sofia .
I love this. My mom and dad are both addicts. I grew up in the system. I ended up into addiction myself. But November 3rd 2019 I celebrated my 1 year clean and sober.
kali horner u are doing great, keep that good things and work up:)
congrats! I'm so happy for you!
Keep grinding! You’re strong
Aw well done, ur doing amazing, keep going
Keep at it!! Well done!
The way that Eryn uses humor to mask the troubling past hits me on a personal level..
That's the first thing I noticed about Eryn. But I completely understand because I did the same thing for a long time until I finally went into therapy. It has to be addressed at some point or Eryn could go down the same road.
@@JesusIsKing1980 i started therapy but i still do that, what have you learned now that helps you not do that? like, wat exactly is the problem?
i do this every single time

It hit me on a very personal level
100 days clean from meth and heroin❤️ recovery is possible
Wow keep going! Such an achievement well done 😊❤
Never look back! No matter what happens! You were strong enough to make it through the flames, and you’re stronger because of it! There is nothing in life that you can’t conquer now! Don’t ever forget it! 💙

It’s crazy how Tyler has always been a part of Eryn’s life. She has never known otherwise... he basically took over the role of being her dad
“Your future is not the situation you are in right now.” That spoke volumes to me.
Desiree Smith your current situation isn’t your future destination 💕
Say what you want about Laura's past mistakes, but she's definitely a better person now than she used to be. She's doing something right now because look at how happy that young girl is ❤️
@RedRebel2017 she shouldn't
RedRebel2017 why is that? Why should someone be known for their past mistakes? Do you live everyday in the past, or do you live everyday for the future? You learn from your mistakes and move on, not one of us is perfect.

“We all handled the childhood differently” - such a huge thing no one discusses
And beautiful that she views it that way. Many in her position are prone to thinking that if they can ‘handle’ the situation, another can as well as them.
Let’s talk about how mom is strong enough and loves her daughter enough to acknowledge her problem and be grateful to you guys for helping her.
a child's grades doesn't determine their intelligence, I love that you said that 10000% true
True I teach in a very low income school and you cant expect kids who experience trauma and abuse daily to ace their tests. You have to ensure their basic needs are met first, most of my students come to school hungry and sleep deprived. I try to be very patient with their emotional outbursts and short attention spans, that is how their processing chaos.

Amanda Motion I’m glad your students have someone who is compassionate and understanding to the fact that they are facing life challenges that impede their ability to learn ❤️
@@aereid6 if only the world had more people like you that views it that way. Your students are lucky to have that, bc most don't at home. A great teacher can make a big impact on a kids life.

How unselfish of Tyler and Laura to raise her niece. Special people right there. Addiction affects everyone.
(selfless)
Who actually disliked this video? Wtf is wrong with people. This is a beautiful video. God bless you laura and thank God for you. Praying for you all.
Diane Hensley seriously!!! It’s like almost 3k. Wtf
I guess there is a lot of people that don’t believe addiction just happens
Sadly
That's exactly what I said! Do I need to bring some Hillbilly slappin' to somebody?! This is serious, you may not LIKE it, but it's really REAL! JMHO.... 😘❤🇱🇷
People messed up
As a social worker, I started crying the second your sister told you she was grateful. That’s such a blessing.
Very vulnerable for you to share so much of your private life with all of us, but I think you did it in an informative and respectful way. From someone who has lots of family issues and struggles as well, it's nice to know we're not alone. Thank you for the sacrifices that you've made for Eryn!

Thank you for your real life video

That’s amazing!!! I hope that you’re very proud of yourself because it’s not easy!!
It takes immense courage to step away from comfort (however harmful) and embrace pain. Scars aren’t a sign of weakness, they are a symbol of how strong people had to be for so long 💚 You started kicking butt 4 years ago and have been doing it ever since! You’re a badass

I'm clean 7 months off meth. I've been addicted to drugs since I was 13 and I'm 26 now. I take Suboxone now and it has saved me so much. Thanks for sharing your families story.
I am so proud of you
Congrats! Keep fighting, you can do it💪🏻
I’m proud! You got this! ❤️you are so strong!!😊
Congrats girl. Careful with suboxone. It's just replacing a drug with another drug and is just as addicting and withdrawals are worse than heroin.
@@jennifermariani8875 yeah i know. I've been taking them for almost 6 years. I just finally got off meth and it's been keeping me off of it this time.
Watching Ty talk about her and how it wasn’t even a question and how Accepting he was of the situation and knowing that it was the addiction and not the person is so heartwarming
HE IS LEGIT AMAZING!
I’ve loved them for evvvvvvvA
Ty is the whole package. What an awesome partner. Tears 😭
The middle child always goes through it and no one notices
Agree!
& the youngest
i don’t know, i’m the oldest and i’ve struggled the most with behaviour, drugs, alcohol and mental stability. i don’t think it’s just the middle kid
Not true at all! My mother has 7 children (6 daughters and 1 son). Only one became an addict, our only brother. We all lived the same life, witnessed the same addictions, the same struggles. I'm the second oldest and seen and lived much worse than my middle sibling or the younger siblings (our mother was sober by then). People get effected differently, and addiction doesn't discriminate...this includes age and what order you were born.
well maybe more often but don’t say always that’s so not true
10 yr sober Sept 21st. Didn't even know it was a special month! My kids only know the mommy that drinks soda.

This is my second time watching this and I STILL don't understand why there are so many dislikes. Coming from someone who had the same childhood and had to have a family member raise me, give me the life I couldn't have had otherwise... this hits deep and you guys are amazing people.
The fact laura went through so much n turned out so successful, it takes alot of inner drive to not turn out like your family

This was so well done. I'm adopted, and I'm so proud that you allowed everyone to say their part of the story, because it's always complex.
My mom is 4 years clean and was in jail during my pregnancy. The hardest thing we both had to deal with because it was always us against the world. Shes now an amazing grandma that lives with us and helps with my now 4 year old daughter. She getting emotional all the time thinking of what she did and how shes gotten better. Love will overcome!
Best video you’ve ever made. You’re shedding a light on such a big issue in a lot of people’s lives that no one ever wants to talk about.
Agree. Hands down.
which is so crazy! Why don't people talk about adoption more?!
Say what you want about her
This is pure human kindness that can be translated through all languages
The has changed my whole view of you because your story really hits home. I grew up in a household where my dad was an alcoholic and a drug addict and he was a violent drunk. When I was 17 I jumped from house to house and now I have my own home and family and I have vowed to never to allow that energy or my past effect my daughters
So thank you for sharing your story.
Natalie Stacey why do people not like her
From a young woman whose mother neglected me as a child due to alcohol addiction is difficult. Thank you for sharing this video. I have underlying mental health problems due to my childhood and my mother's addiction. This is so important to me.

I have been struggling with addiction since 2017 and I could never string together more than 90 days..... BUT im celebrating 8 months clean on the 18th of August!! Its amazing what the Lord can do when you trust in him and work your program!! ✝️ Congratulations to your sister!! I pray she continues down the right path and that her legal situation is worked out the way God intends! It is not easy to stay sober but id rather do the work than be back in the misery of my addiction EVER again.
P.S. IM SO GLAD YOU TALKED ABOUT ADDICTION. You are helping the stigma around addiction. You are Lauralee and no one would have ever guessed that addiction affected you and your family! Your sister was RIGHT when she said its a DISEASE. We don't choose to be addicts but we can choose to get sober and help others who are struggling!!!! ❤❤
You go girl ❤️
My mother was a drug addict as well, and I wish I had an aunt or older family member to take me in and help me out. So I wish the best for eryn and I hope she takes full advantage of the opportunities you give to her by providing her with this new lifestyle

Yay for social workers! I am too!
My mom was a drug addict all my childhood, my dad is still an alcoholic, I was forced to raise my 4 siblings at the age of 10. I have always felt like I needed to keep it a secret because people would judge me for it. I love your honestly and openness

I found my mom 6 years ago dead in her own vomit while she was watching my 1 month old son. She hid being addicted to drugs my whole life. If you are needing help, REACH OUT.
They were the hardest years of my life to try and understand. Thanks for the kind words. All it takes is for people to speak up about mental illness and addiction. People should never feel alone like my mother did.
God bless you. Sending you a big virtual hug.
Omg! I’am so sorry you had to go through that!
Wow what an experience. I couldn’t imagine the trauma you went through. Sending you love

That's great. Are you kids still with you x
I’m so happy your sister can admit her addiction and accept your help and that you are able to help and give your niece love, stability and a home.
I can relate because there is nothing worse than watching and knowing from the outside that a family member is putting children at risk and also putting them through so much pain and through emotional abuse and being able to not help because they think there is nothing wrong with them and making out the whole family is against that family member. At the end of the day, children suffer through listening and watching their parents and can give them such a detrimental future in how they become as teens/adults... and that’s what scares me! It could go either way for my niece & nephews 😥
Keep doing what your both doing! Your amazing people! ❤️

Laura, I really hope you read this.
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'm recently coming to the realization that I may be adopting my 2 year old niece... My sister is a heroin and meth addict and in the last 5 years, has only been sober during her stays in jail. She's 27, I'm 29. She's back in jail as of a few weeks ago... Her daughter, Veronica, pretty much only knows me as "mommy". I have no children of my own.
This video is helping me accept and appreciate that I'm able to help Veronica in the way you help Eryn. I'm always so scared I won't be enough for her and she'll always be longing for "real parents".
Thank you for helping me understand that even though Veronica's situation is not IDEAL... It could be so much worse. Forever grateful I'm able to be here for her.
Love and respect to you and Ty 💓
i hope all is going well for you guys, you’re very strong and kind hearted for even considering taking in your niece
Lor3nashl33 I'm 13. and my step sister, is 28. BUT. I am much more a mother to my niece than her own mom. her mom is into drugs. she's in prison now, for 10 years. When i get old enough i already promised myself i was going to try and adopt her. my niece is only 6.
Hi, that's great. Did you adopt her? Is she still living with you x
My niece is still living with me and her 3rd birthday just passed ❤ I have not adopted her.
My sister (her mother) is in rehab right now. She has been in rehab and consequently has been clean since a couple days before Christmas but still has a loooong way to go. Praying she stays strong. If not, I am here and always will be.
Lor3nashl33 wow I’m happy to hear that responding to her relply btw
Thanks to all of you for being so open with your personal life. My family, my husband's family and any other family I've known has some sort of substance abuse and/or abuse problem to deal with/to get through/to hopefully get counseling for. I'm so glad that you all have weathered this storm and come out the other end happy and settled. Thanks again for sharing. Warms my heart.

Love this so much. I have family members that suffered/suffer from addiction. I am now a foster mom and try to help coach parents to get better for these sweet kids. Thank you for sharing your story.
i’m going to be 100% honest and say that i really lost interest in your channel for a while but this video has really made me have so much respect for you . thank you for sharing your story and being so raw with millions of people , and sharing such a personal part of your life . all of you guys are very brave , especially Eryn . i was emotional the whole time because this kind of hits close to home .. it’s incredibly hard being so young and watching your mother become an addict and have your life change completely because of it . Eryn is incredibly strong and she’s very lucky to have family like you guys that are able to take her in and support her through everything . you did an amazing thing and i genuinely wish you all the best . 🙏🏼❤️❤️
Giving a person A Home is the most honorable and life changing act someone can achieve in their life . God bless you
I’m so thankful that there are people like this in the world. If there was no people like this in the world it would be toxic. Thank you Tyler and Laura Lee!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I've always liked Laura, I love her after seeing this. 100% respect to her and her family.
