  • Hey Larlees, todays video is different. This is the story of why Tyler and I adopted my niece Eryn. This video was hard to film, and to be candid I filmed it 3 times and every time watching it back it didn't feel right. It was me sitting there telling the story of my sister, Eryn, and Tyler. I felt like these are not all my stories to tell. They should be here telling their own stories, so thats just what I did. I opened my platform and asked them the hard questions. I'm so grateful they were willing to be so open and share some of their most vulnerable moments with thousands of people. People aren’t perfect and never have been. Addiction is a real thing that affects so many people and families. My sister is working on getting better everyday. We are all so proud of her and her journey i'm so happy she is here to share her story. Thank you all so much for watching. We love you guys.
    ps:
Lets keep the conversation going. Teen Pregnancy, Addiction, low income SO many people have struggles and they shouldn’t feel alone.
What were/are some struggles you have faced? How did you overcome them?

Not true at all! My mother has 7 children (6 daughters and 1 son). Only one became an addict, our only brother. We all lived the same life, witnessed the same addictions, the same struggles. I'm the second oldest and seen and lived much worse than my middle sibling or the younger siblings (our mother was sober by then). People get effected differently, and addiction doesn't discriminate...this includes age and what order you were born.

I have been struggling with addiction since 2017 and I could never string together more than 90 days..... BUT im celebrating 8 months clean on the 18th of August!! Its amazing what the Lord can do when you trust in him and work your program!! ✝️ Congratulations to your sister!! I pray she continues down the right path and that her legal situation is worked out the way God intends! It is not easy to stay sober but id rather do the work than be back in the misery of my addiction EVER again.
P.S. IM SO GLAD YOU TALKED ABOUT ADDICTION. You are helping the stigma around addiction. You are Lauralee and no one would have ever guessed that addiction affected you and your family! Your sister was RIGHT when she said its a DISEASE. We don't choose to be addicts but we can choose to get sober and help others who are struggling!!!! ❤❤

I’m so happy your sister can admit her addiction and accept your help and that you are able to help and give your niece love, stability and a home.
I can relate because there is nothing worse than watching and knowing from the outside that a family member is putting children at risk and also putting them through so much pain and through emotional abuse and being able to not help because they think there is nothing wrong with them and making out the whole family is against that family member. At the end of the day, children suffer through listening and watching their parents and can give them such a detrimental future in how they become as teens/adults... and that’s what scares me! It could go either way for my niece & nephews 😥
Keep doing what your both doing! Your amazing people! ❤️

Laura, I really hope you read this.
    🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'm recently coming to the realization that I may be adopting my 2 year old niece... My sister is a heroin and meth addict and in the last 5 years, has only been sober during her stays in jail. She's 27, I'm 29. She's back in jail as of a few weeks ago... Her daughter, Veronica, pretty much only knows me as "mommy". I have no children of my own.
This video is helping me accept and appreciate that I'm able to help Veronica in the way you help Eryn. I'm always so scared I won't be enough for her and she'll always be longing for "real parents".
Thank you for helping me understand that even though Veronica's situation is not IDEAL... It could be so much worse. Forever grateful I'm able to be here for her.
Love and respect to you and Ty 💓

Lor3nashl33 I'm 13. and my step sister, is 28. BUT. I am much more a mother to my niece than her own mom. her mom is into drugs. she's in prison now, for 10 years. When i get old enough i already promised myself i was going to try and adopt her. my niece is only 6.

Hi, that's great. Did you adopt her? Is she still living with you x

My niece is still living with me and her 3rd birthday just passed ❤ I have not adopted her.
My sister (her mother) is in rehab right now. She has been in rehab and consequently has been clean since a couple days before Christmas but still has a loooong way to go. Praying she stays strong. If not, I am here and always will be.

Thanks to all of you for being so open with your personal life. My family, my husband's family and any other family I've known has some sort of substance abuse and/or abuse problem to deal with/to get through/to hopefully get counseling for. I'm so glad that you all have weathered this storm and come out the other end happy and settled. Thanks again for sharing. Warms my heart.

i’m going to be 100% honest and say that i really lost interest in your channel for a while but this video has really made me have so much respect for you . thank you for sharing your story and being so raw with millions of people , and sharing such a personal part of your life . all of you guys are very brave , especially Eryn . i was emotional the whole time because this kind of hits close to home .. it’s incredibly hard being so young and watching your mother become an addict and have your life change completely because of it . Eryn is incredibly strong and she’s very lucky to have family like you guys that are able to take her in and support her through everything . you did an amazing thing and i genuinely wish you all the best . 🙏🏼❤️❤️
