  • Welcome back to another Irish video on European Rail.
In this video we visit Adamstown station in Dublin. The station is located on the Dublin to Cork mainline. It is served by various south western commuter services operating between Portlaoise / Newbridge / Hazelhatch and Dublin Heuston / Grand Canal Dock. Intercity services from Heuston to Waterford, Cork, Tralee, Limerick, Galway and Westport pass through the station non stop. The IWT liner which runs from North Wall to Ballina also operates through the station. In this video we also see some special movements including a 2800 Class DMU on transfer running from Limerick to Inchicore for maintenance. Two permanent way trains can also be seen. The first being a tamper on a run from Kildare to North Wall, followed by a spoil train movement from Portarlington to North Wall. Regular passenger services in this video are operated by 22000 Class ICR DMUs and 201 locomotives hauling MKIV sets.
I hope you enjoy this video and make sure to subscribe so you don't miss out on more European Rail videos.

Nice compilation! It seems that Irish trains follow the same design and standards as British ones (including the lack of electrification...)

Different track gauge, though. And loading gauge.

@@qwertyTRiG true, I didn't know Irish tracks are slightly wider. The loading gauge looks similar though, at least the trains have the same shape

Worth noting NI is the only UK nation to have a broad gauge railway because of this
